"No reply from master server" ??
Hey guys,
Just bought LFS and the payment went through straight away Everything unlocked fine. Then I went to view some game servers and it sits there for a while and says "No reply from master server". I can get into demo games fine though. Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers

P.S No firewalls or anything, unless port forwarding is needed for S2 server lists?
It's probably Phlos stealing all the bandwidth...

On a more serious note, port forwarding is not needed, but the latest version of LFS is, so make sure you are on patch U, and you might want to grab U18 from the test patch section whilst you are at it.
Just tired on in the uk and works fine it might just something at your end, just try restarting lfs o if that does not work restart your pc hope this helps
Quote from Becky Rose :you might want to grab U18 from the test patch section whilst you are at it.

You should mean test patch 19

Browsing for demo and lisenced server should be exactly same. I can't see why one would work while the other doesn't.... Have you tried restarting LFS/Windows, does the error still come up?
Hey,
Yeah I have it still didn't work. It goes

Connecting to master server

then

Waiting for list of games

Then stops for about 10 secs and ............................................

ahh ok its just started working HA! As I'm typing. (I just tried twice after restarting)
Could anyone else give me a good reason why LFS always drops me from the server after about 6 - 10min? And its playing perfect up till then?
At a guess, I'd point a finger at packet loss somewhere between yourself and the server, in which case it'd be a problem with your ISP.
Nah I'v tried 2 ISPs lol Must be the distance then That sucks
What quite often happens when you are lagging in LFS is everything appears to be fine and normal.

Unless you are the person driving near the lagging person...

If you seem to have a lot of accidents when cars are close, or drivers who are way faster only ever overtake on a straight and give you a wide berth, then you might want to pop the ultimate question, "Am I lagging?".

What you describe sounds like you may have been lagging all along, but didn't necessarily get laggy packets in to you.

Most ISP's still offer very slow upload speeds despite the fast download speeds, so it's information being sent out that tends to lag before information coming back in.
What upload speeds would you say are required?
Anyone?
Well there isn't really a required, the more the better. I used to have 256kb/s and was alright with that. Now I'm up to just short of 500kb/s.
Were like on of the most behind on internet it suck (New Zealand), don't even have ADSL2+ yet its coming next year. But all the plans are 128k upload apart from usually the most expensive plan thats 3.5mb/512kb. Im sure games only require 64kbit up and down?
About 64kish upload speed should be sufficient, but if that 64kbit of data arrives late (even if constant in speed) or with variable packet timing (ie: badly setup wireless / p2p software in the background) then you're still going to lag.
