The online racing simulator
Well,you gotta set your priorities straight! Wink

On serious note: Fern Bay Green reversed configuration has a first chicane that can be cut very easily. Therefore the tyre stack has been increased to motivate drivers not to cut track. I don't want to go hardcore and put barrier in the chicane and it is possible to clear the tyres away,that's why everyone should stay fair and keep at least 2 tyres (full width of them) on the legal surface (curbs count as legal surface too) in case the tyres have been cleared by driver ahead. Anyone cought using advantage will receive penalty - in qualifying loss of the points brought by the fast lap,in race 10 seconds penalty added to finish line (or more if advantage gained very often).
you could had put some concrete pieces on ground, where you can still cut, but with price of suspension damage.

But then again, no shortcutting at all, why not just leave as it is? Does not everyone respect this rule already?
I think those flying tyres may cause some accidents in the race.
I didn't expect to end the race on 2nd lap Big grin. No hard feelings toward Michal, stuff happens and I wasn't really expecting much from this race Smile .

The 3rd year of RTFR XL was opened in Fern Bay - in it's fast and tricky configuration named Green reversed. The selected car FBM,a very light single seater car without much power,but still made some difficulties for many here as shown by finishing rate - from 13 starters only 6 cars crossed the finish line with 7th completing the 50% requirement to be in results.

It was only the 2nd XL race appearance for 13-time RTFR race winner Botsi (started 2nd,but did not finish the race),but he made it count - he earned pole position in qualifying and led 49 of 70 laps in race also setting fastest lap of the race. On his way to victory lane Botsi lapped the whole remaining field,becoming the 3rd driver to do so. J.A.Katila was 2nd extending his top2 streak to 3 races,10th top5 finish for him,his teammate T.Soini repeated his best finish by finishing 3rd,7 top5 finished in his account. The best non-finn was the swede Snoopy in 4th place,4 top5 finishes in his account and top5 was closed by Rony,14th top5 finish in his account.

* FUN FACT OF THE MONTH :
The race was finished by drivers only from 4 most northern Baltic sea countries,despite having starters also from UK,Canada,Czechia and Lithuania.

* CLOCK PITTER OF THE RACE :
New year,same deal - T.Soini is again the clock pitter of the race,as he was the only one to make a stop without work (10.51s),his teammate J.A.Katila had a shorter stop,but did refuel.

* FIELD RUSHER OF THE RACE :
Starting from back of the field is the best chance to get in his paragraph. From 13th to 5th - a +8 performance by Rony.

* HONORABLE MENTION :
3rd fastest lap,good overall pace,but few incidents including blown tyre entering turn 1 with 2 laps to go - the new FFM recruit Kamikas still did not gave up and completed the race as last running driver. Better luck next time!

RTFR XL now goes into it's normal 4 weeks break,next race combo has already been sumbitted - it will be the 2nd appearance of the slowest LFS car UF1 and it will be run in Westhill National. But already next week normal RTFR will return with one of the road legal cars. And before that already this sunday - 3rd round of this year's AWS season,the Winter 200,which will start AWS 2 race streak on ovals. More details in AWS2019 thread in this forum,signups still open!

Pitting rules:

Race requires a minimum time spent in pitstall of 10 seconds. That can be done either with single pitstop or sum of multiple pitstops. Driver who has spent less time will receive penalty time added to his finish time,which will be calculated by tripling the missing time to complete neccesary minimum time and adding additional 5 seconds. Drivers failing to pit at all will receive 1 minute penalty added to finish time (10s*3 + additional 30s).

[FFM]ˆsermilan - receives 26.48 seconds penalty added to his finish time for minimum pit time violation.
[WCL] Eza - receives 27.32 seconds penalty added to his finish time for minimum pit time violation.
-longi- - receives 60 seconds penalty added to his finish time for not completing pitstop requirement.

- - - - - - - - - -

The slowest car of LFS turned out to be relatively popular despite it's handling characteristics - it was the biggest grid since the 1st event of last year. There was plenty of close racing initially,but naturally the field stretched out at some point of the race and the racing with some exceptions was mostly trying to catch or to pull away.

Just few days before the event Botsi set a new world record in this particular combo officially claiming his advantage over competition - and he proved to be right by earning pole position in qualifying and winning the race allowing the best of the competition to slip by only for a short moment in 1st/2nd lap. He also set the fastest lap of the race - all these achievements are his 2nd while he is now the 5th driver to achieve a winning streak in RTFR XL. R.Kardol was the defending UF1 winner and he did all what he could to defend the honor - he even slipped by Botsi in the main straight at the end of 1st lap. Soon after that he had to concede and settle for 2nd position,which is his 5th top5 finish. It was 2nd XL race for J.Pickard and he did much better than before,upgrading 8th position to 3rd as his best finish here. 1st time joiner Maddee finished 4th,5th was Sermilan at the finish,but his pitstop was way too short and he received time penalty,so 5th position was taken by Rony,who collected 15th top5 finish.

* FUN FACT OF THE MONTH :
The race distance is calculated quite simply - 75 minutes are divided with world record laptime and the result is always rounded up to full lap count. When distance was calculated for this race,the WR at the time was just 0.01s slower to make the race 1 lap longer (WR was improved after info was posted). Currently the situation is the same for the selected combo for next race - if world record gets improved before info is posted,the race will be a lap longer than it would be without improving.

* CLOCK PITTER OF THE RACE :
Yesterday Maciek pitted for 10.10 seconds without any pitwork before racing back to action - noone else got a shorter legal pitstop.

* FIELD RUSHER OF THE RACE :
Unite started from 11th position and finished 6th in final results - a +5 positions gain for him.

* HONORABLE MENTION :
This time we'll honor the first time driver at this event with 2nd lowest online experience (lowest had Dyanamite,but he retired after 2 laps) between the competition - Dstan set the 9th best lap during yesterday's race,but finished 12th. Hopefully a valuable and interesting addition to his 27 megameters of online distance.

In 4 weeks the next RTFR XL will have another front wheel drive car - the turbocharged FXO will be run in urban environment of South City in it's longest official configuration. Between now and then there will be 2 normal RTFR races,the first one of these will be run using one of the road legal cars,more info on that as usually in the weekend before it. But during that weekend the 5th round of AWS2019 is scheduled with it's most classic race - FXR rallycross at Blackwood. Signups are still open (info in AWS thread),but it will be the final race where new drivers can still jump into AWS action.

Race statistics / Event rating and other statistics (will be updated during the week)

* PENALTIES :
Botsi - receives 10 seconds penalty added to his finish time for pit exit line violation.

- - - - - - - - - -

Purely statistically FXO is the most popular car in RTFR XL history - 32 drivers per event. But that was 2nd RTFR,which is still the most attended XL event and the only time FXO was used,until this week,where it returned. 14 participants in this one leaves FXO on stats top with 23 drivers per event. South City's longest configuration was a good workout for most and a good lesson how to race conservative and keep the right pace.

Currently both RTFR events have been taken over by Botsi,also in this race he dominated qualifying with laptime 1.4s better than the competition and crossed the finish line just over 1 before everyone else after leading every single lap. But his minute advantage was reduced due penalty for crossing the pit exit line,which he could easily afford. Botsi is now the 2nd driver in RTFR XL history,who has a streak of 3 or more consecutive wins. Win wasn't the only 3rd consecutive achievement - it was also the same for pole position,fastest lap and top5 finish,all of these are also his totals as he never finished a race before this streak. There were few duels in this race,some for many laps,some for just few. The first of those was for 2nd place - R.Kardol was the better one here taking 2nd runner up position in row,6th top5 finish in total. Michal had to concede in this battle by less than half second,3rd place finish for him,great improvement from his previous best (and only) finish - 8th. The gap between 2nd and 3rd was much bigger than between 4th and 5th - just 1 hundreth seperated the final straight run for 4th. J.A.Katila barely defended his 4th,taking 11th top5 finish,which is still 2nd most. Rony made couple positions on pit strategy and just could not find way pass struggling competitor,5th place finish,adding 16th top5 finish to stats.

* FUN FACT OF THE MONTH :
Finland becomes the 1st country to have 3 consecutive wins - the previous 4 win streak was made by a driver not racing under flag of any country,therefor not collecting any national stats.

* CLOCK PITTER OF THE RACE :
The very 1st pitstop of the race was 10.01 seconds long,close to impossible to beat - Rony is the clock pitter of the race. Jeff did repeat same time,but he added fuel to his tank.

* FIELD RUSHER OF THE RACE :
From 10th to 5th - a +5 race for Rony,9397 was the 2nd best with +3.

* HONORABLE MENTION :
A true passion for racing - despite joining late and not having any chances for better position than all other finishers,Sobis still was racing,finishing with 5 laps gap to winner,3 to closest rival. 12th position in his stats,but his fastest lap suggests he might have been into fight for top5 position.

New ruling this year says a driver cannot pick combo for more than 2 consecutive races,this came into play this time and the honor to pick next combo was given to 2nd place finisher R.Kardol. And he selected something never seen in RTFR XL - rallycross. LX6 is the chosen car and it will be a great challenge in Fern Bay Rallycross configuration. The race could be scheduled for 65 laps,might still change in case of improved WR. But before that we have 2 normal RTFR races to complete - next week one of the road legal cars will be used,but 2 weeks later the anniversary 200th RTFR with community voted combo. A total of 48 RTFR participants has the chance influence this voting by suggesting car and track for the 200th event,unfortunatelly the amount of replies is low (13),so the options for voting might not be very interesting - all who received the PM still have the chance to reply until sunday!

the WR lap of this combo is epic
Quote from lucaf :the WR lap of this combo is epic

tbh, so are all WRs for that combo, apart from UF1 and XFG. Even in FE5R, half of the WRs utilize that one bit of grass that doesn't give a shit about HLVC Big grin
A difficult race is awaiting us today. For those,who need raceline as a help and are unhappy to not have it in this combo,here's a workaround:
Make a copy of file lfs\data\knw\FE5_LX4.knw in temporary location (desktop)
Rename it by replacing LX4 with LX6
Paste the renamed file in same folder

Of course braking and acceleration might be a little off,but at least you will have a cornering line guide as LX4 is somewhat similar in terms of handling.

[MRc] Michal - receives 10 seconds penalty added to his finish time for pit exit line violation.

- - - - - - - - - -

Without a surprize this tough combo turned out not being crowd pleaser as it repeated lowest numbers in both racers started and finished stats rows,but as usually - even with low numbers,there was plenty of racing.

The combo picker R.Kardol was the fastest in qualifying picking up his 2nd pole position (coincidentally he scored his 2nd pole position also in normal RTFR week ago),but due personal reasons could not start the race leaving the chances for others. Jeff started the race from 2nd position,made a move for lead in turn 1 and never gave it up again for all 65 laps - and for the 1st time in RTFR XL history winners honor leaves Europe. It was 2nd top5 finish for Jeff,his previous best finish position was 4th,also he is 17th different winner in 28 RTFR XL races. T.Soini kept close distance to leader all race long,but not close enough to make a bid for position - 2nd place finish (2nd closest finish in RTFR XL history) which is 1 position upgrade from his previous best position,8 top5 finishes now in his account. T.Soini also set fastest lap of the race,which is 1st for him. 3rd and already 1 lap behind was Rony with 17th top5 finish,just 5 seconds behind him was Texas repeating his best finishing position - 4th,2nd top5 finish. 2 laps behind leader in 5th was Michal,scoring also his 2nd top5 finish.

* FUN FACT OF THE MONTH :
This was the first RTFR XL race to exceed 80 minutes - race distance is calculated using WR time,seems like this combo has much better WR than normal race distance.

* CLOCK PITTER OF THE RACE :
And T.Soini is back in this mention with his 10.33s work free pitstop.

* FIELD RUSHER OF THE RACE :
There was not much field rushing in this race - 3 drivers had 1 position gain between start and finish,best of them is considered the one,who finishes higher and it is the winner Jeff!

* HONORABLE MENTION :
...goes to all 6 drivers yesterday - it was difficult,challenging,but also rewarding to complete this little endurance race. One thing is keeping the car on best line for over an hour,other - keeping the rear wheels behind front ones in powerslide on the slippery parts of this course for this long. (some had their breaks in this though)

The new winner has already submitted his next combo choice - it will be the 4th appearance of XFG and 2nd appearance of 9397's Blackwood industrial layouts. This time the configuration named Boreas is selected - despite having best laptimes already posted also for this car (currently 1:29.81),combo will be set for almost 2 weeks testing after next RTFR has been completed. Next week we'll return to normal RTFR action by starting the 3rd century of the event with one of the road legal cars and that won't be the last race in the week from RGE - the new league STARL will start it's action in 5th may with the prologue race at the Dirt Oval of Westhill.

Good, but take that wind off please. There is no wind on RTFR races... Uhmm
Combo for next race loaded in server Ronys Tuesdays Fun Race for testing purposes - since it's not a standart combination,possible laptimes have to be found out for distance calculation.
According to layout creator's website,current best possible laptime is 1:29.81,which will be used for distance calculation unless someone will set better laptime.
Combo is XFG at Blackwood Boreas (BL4X)

Combo will stay until next RTFR race (scheduled for 14th may) will be set up.
