The decade season is now ready to be started and it will be opened right in the 1st monday of the new year in South City! The NewYear City Challenge has been featured in all 9 previous AWS seasons using different tracks and twice even using the slower AWD car. Not the case this year - season will be opened with the mighty FXR and run in the Town Course configuration. It's the shorter of 2 long South City configurations,running through the very twisty section,but cutting out the highway part before returning on the long front straight,which is barely straight and has a very tricky bend that dips under an overpass - plenty of challenges also in this configuration,which has to be mastered for 44 laps in this round.

Current signups list includes one of previous 9 champions,so everyone already can challenge him on track,while list also includes one of the two winningest all time series drivers. Who will make his name in the AWS hall of fame this season and who will update with more achievements? This is the round to start write your own history in the series!
Also worth to pay attention to all used to AWS being run in sundays - this year it's back to original day - monday!

nF·Mishu - receives a disqualification from this and next round for deliberate driving in oposite direction into oncoming traffic. There is just no excuse for such action. As per rules the driver will carry a warning for remainder of the season.

The decade season opened with a new all time AWS attendance record - NewYear City Challenge gathered a total of 26 challengers,one of them did not start the race,but 23 drivers were able to complete the distance requirement to score points towards championship. But that was not the only record broken in this round - due a simple organization mistake (a 1 figure typo when carrying schedule from notes to actual information) this round turned into the longest race in AWS history by exceeding 50 minutes mark,while nominal race length is aimed around 40 minutes. Since the faulty information was posted official and known to everyone,there will be no further action and results are official. Race Green Events apologizes for the 10 laps extra endurance challenge!

Season was opened practically where it ended - with defending champion taking series lead by scoring his 1st point when setting fastest lap in qualifying,but he had to concede his lead already in 1st corner of the race. Botsi regained his lead in 16th lap and kept in until chequered flag and took also the other round bonus point for fastest lap of the race. His teammate R.Kardol gained 3 positions during the race to finish 2nd,AWS all time shared winningest driver Dzidoris finished in same position he qualified - 3rd.

Standings after round one are of course in same order as results of the race,leader Botsi has 4 points lead over his teammate R.Kardol and 6 points over Dzidoris. Same situation is also in chase for FXR Master award.

Gemini95 leads the Rookie of the Year standings by 3 points over Fatass,3rd in this chart is Twincam another 2 points apart.

Team S1DUS grabbed all possible 30 points in 1st round and logically takes lead in Teams championsip,2nd are defending champions Race Green Autosports,trailing by 13 points,WCL is currently 3rd,19 points off lead. In Nations Cup situation is a bit different - Finland scored 27 points in 1st round and leads by 8 over defending champions Lithuania,Netherlands is 3rd with 14 points gap to lead.

Round 2 in 2 weeks time will be 1st of 2 rallycross rounds and 1st of 3 RB4 rounds - it will be a return of the short Fern Bay's RallyX Green configuration - a sub-kilometer oval-ish shaped course,partially paved. As always tyre management will be a very important factor for the race,while organization will relieve drivers with option to pit for new ones in the custom made pits area.
