With the new VERL season nearing the opnening round of RTFR 2023 season 2 was run in a classic VERL combo - the Formula V8 in the Westhill International configuration, allthough the distance was shorter than VERL's 200km. Still the race was attended by 2 last VERL champions, the latest however was with the new VERL car. A total of 24 drivers qualified for the race, however only 20 were standing on grid waiting for green light,17 endured the 33 minutes race to see the chequred flag.
The last VERL Formula V8 champion Gábor was on the heights of duty once again, outqualifying the competition by 0.4 seconds and scoring his 16th pole position in RTFR. He led all 20 laps on the way to victory lane, clinching his 23rd RTFR racewin and on the final lap securing also fastest lap of the race - his 18th. The hungarian has now a total of 48 top5 finishes and lead in 2023 season 2 standings after first of 10 rounds. The defending VERL champion (the one who won series with new car) proved himself being a worthy FO8 driver too being the only driver having the winner on visibility range whole race long, finishing with 5.5 seconds gap. That was Fatal's 20th top5 finish. The late race semi-distant 3-way battle for 3nd place was won by Sean, who scored his highest RTFR finish (improvement by a single positon) and 3rd top5 finish. Despite running most of the race 3rd,Zesty threw the chance for his best RTFR finish away on his own, eventually rescuing 4th place finish to have the complete repeat of his best achievements yesterday - 3rd in qualifying and 4th in race, adding 3rd top5 finish to his list. Ayoub Maroc completed the top5,scoring his 10th top5 finish in his 30th overall finish.
