Poll : Wet Weather?

Yes
177
No
12
I think I'll start one asking if people would prefer jail or chocolate cake
yeah this is probably one of the most pointless polls ever lol.
What the &^% happened to Steve Irwin? And who in blazes is "Tristian"?

Edit: Never mind, saw thread about Irwin. That sucks. But I won't talk about here... Umm.. Rain is good... yeah....
I need wet weather to be competetive! lol, I drive all racing (real and sim) with way more understeer than most people because I find it more comfortable, and my arms tire if I drive with oversteer. So of course when the wet weather arrives suddenly I go setting fastest laps ... I can't wait!
Quote from frokki :I'd like to hear some arguments from those 2 who voted no.. I can't see any reason why someone would resist wet.

Well, maybe they prefer to have the (considerable) development effort spent on other features...
I have been thinking about the same thing, why we dont have rain and wet roads... You could have wet roads without having rain in the sky but would also be fun as hell to have rainy weather... Probably would have to have a windshield cleaner for users that drives inside the car.....
Quote from GWADanny :i think having the wet would be good a show the good racers from the crap

Not really the case, Senna started off being crap in the rain when he raced karts. He could beat everyone in the dry but in his first wet race he was terrible.

First though before dynamic weather we need the rubber being laid on the racing line to actually affect the cars properly so when it rains that part of the tarmac is smooth making it quite slidey in the wet. Thus you use the `karting` line on the rougher part of the tarmac where the tyres can bite better.

Keiran
i want rain and snow and mud(on cars) and fog. and window wipers. and night times.
I'm recommending you for a smacked botty.

I wont forget Senna driving a Toleman around Monaco chasing down Alain Prost. Was he really that bad to begin with?

Mind you I remember my first ever outdoor kart race was icy and I sucked at that and spun more than a spider on a web making frenzy, the next wet race I won by a country mile...
Wet weather races? Hell yeah.

That would be awesome, especially for championship racing.
I'd like to see snow as well. But dynamic weather should only be available in licenced copies.
If we had wet weather, we'd also need an option to display a little warning on the screen:

"The oval race was cancelled due to weather because all you nancy boy left only turners can't handle a bit of moisture"

Otherwise it just wouldn't be realistic Wet circuits I'd love though.

Hmmm, just think - if S3 has wet weather, and it's not allowed on the oval(s), then the oval 'people' will get less features for their money. Meaning they were conned out of money. Proving that oval races aren't as clever as circuit racers
Wet weather would be great, as i've said on similar topics many times!
But first like someone said above we need to have a dynamic racing line.
So when driving on a wet track the normal "dry line" would be the most slippy part of the track because there is more rubber on it.
Also we need to have a drying track so where ever on the track most of the cars are driving will dry faster than "off line".

I think wet weather would work better if there was a server option so a server admin could set his server to follow "LFS World weather / wet wether / dry weather"
  • LFS World Weather would be a wether forcast given out by LFS World and any server running this setting will have the same weather (also depending where in the world the track is, i.e. BL = England, FE=Jamaica)
  • Wet would just be a plain wet race
  • Dry just a plain dry race.
Now that would be cool! imho
In every game/sim that includes wet weather I've turned it off/to sunny wherever possible.

I'm slow enough as it is
I would love wet weather but personally I think it will be at least two years.
i do think so.
the question in the poll is quite awkward but, nevertheless it seems lfs has (would have) better timing with that feature as gtr rainy weather is playble with plausible fps only with highend machines.

I think it is quite a bit different cornering at 120-150-200 mph on an oval than at 50-80 mph on a road course. Add water to the mix and I'd think that cornering on a 150 mph oval would be impossible. I still don't understand this "oval racing is for sissy's" mentality illepall . Racing is racing, no matter what the course is.
i would like to see snow that melts on the track and stays on the grass. When My dad was a kid and he went to Watkins Glen for f1 it snowed one year.

edit: Mrodgers- Your quote reminds me of the Indy 500 qualifying soooo much when it was drizzling in turn 2.
But they are still allowed to race in the wet at Indy in F1 on the banking at 180mph? Or through Eau Rouge at 150? Or through Grande Curve at 190? Or round Monaco at 100? If it rains on an oval I think they should still race - they don't HAVE to press the throttle all the way down you know.
Quote :(also depending where in the world the track is, i.e. BL = England, FE=Jamaica)

That could be a problem what with most of the current tracks being in England Especially consider that every 'batch' of tracks is based upon a much larger circuit and you end up with lots of tracks getting washed out together. Cool idea, I just dont think it will work with LFS until we get more tracks in more locations ... Although tropical storms at Kyoto would be great

I agree 100%

I remember that race, a very expensive mess...
Put too many cars on wet oval and you get very little grip, no visibility and you never know what hit you

And it's veery dangerous when you drive extremely close to each other while driving flatout. Uhm...
