Does anyone here drive autocross events in real life? There's an open event coming up in a couple weeks nearby (October 8 at BeaveRun Motorsports Complex--about a half hour or so from where I live) and I'm thinking about going and trying it out. It looks like fun.

Been doing it since I was 16 (5 years). I normally just use my own car. Had a 2nd generation RX-7 (a lot like XRT), but that wore out from Autocrossing. I have an Integra now, but that is nothing special or fast (just a plain old commuter car). But I've driven some faster cars, and it really is a fun sport when you have something quick. I got some ride-a-long's in our friend's collection of Sunbeam Tigers, and man those are quick!! Also in a Cobra kitcar and a Viper GTS. Really fun times can be had at autocross events, and you get to meet some great people.

Now my family got a Boxster, and we will start to goto our Porsche club events to tear up the cones there (Porsche Club Golden Gate Region). We might even goto Thunderhill Race Track, but for now we will just stick to Autocross, as it is cheaper and easier on the car

My dad took me to go watch one time and it was awesome then if you ask around some people will give you rides it's so cool

I plan to fully embarass myself in my car (it's a 2001 Cavalier two-door..2.2L OHV four (iron block, iron head), bout 100 horsepower, handles like mud. The closest thing I can compare it to for those of you in Europe that don't have this car is...well it's about the size of a Vauxhall/Opel Astra, rides like a go-kart and handles like a Cadillac with a boat anchor strapped to the hood.

But I'm sure I'll have a blast anyway.

Yeah I've been autoxing for a year or so now. You should try it out, always lots of fun.

If anyone is in Texas the A&M sports car club has an autox every month during the fall/spring semesters. We have an awesome site(old airport runways) and it's always a lot of fun. Our next event is October 8th,
