nVidia problem
hey,
having problem setting up graphics card. In the screen below, it says that I'm using 22.8 MB, but my graphics card is GF FX5500 128mb (I know, not much ) How can I use more MB's, because I think thats the reason why I get framedrops..

Help! Cheers alliennas

No, you misunderstood. LFS currently uses 22.8 MB of your total available 128 MB. Your stutters must be caused by something else, because LESS memory consumption is actually good.

Please post your system specs, then we can maybe see what could be causing the framedrops.

oh..

Celeron 1700
512 MB RAM
FX 5500 128MB.. don't think anything else needed, btw, Direct x 9.0c
When do the framedrops occur? At the race start with many computer or human players onscreen? If so, the source of your stutters is "Celeron 1700". LFS is very demanding on the CPU, and a 1.7 GHz Celeron isn't exactly... high end. If possible you should upgrade your CPU. The graphics card should do fine in LFS, though.
so that's it.. usually, when I drive alone, I have 35-45 FPS, otherwise, when I'm online with +8 racers, my PC manages only 22+ and huge (!) lag through starts..
Check that you don't have applications such as "object dock" or winamp running at the same time on your desktop.

Because actually i also have some problems when they are running, and it is solved when i close them.
And also maybe try to run LFS in "high priority".
well there's one more thing.. at the time LFS is running, being a bit laggy, when I press "end task" in processes section there is something like "cmd.exe" and it eats 40% of pc "power", but that's not the main cause of lag..
So that means you have a DOS window (or application) running somewhere? Try to find the source of this and see if you can shut it down prior to running LFS. Maybe it will improve your fps a bit. Also close down as many background processes/programs as possible.
but I don't use any aplication (DOS), it just turns on itself in the middle of game.. no mods, no nothing.. virus possible?
Could be. Atleast I don't experience random cmd.exe's popping up, eating CPU time.
ok, thanks for help and your time
I have the nVidia GeForce 5500 FX from PNY technologies. I have low frame rate but I just learned to get used to it, I sometimes have to switch off the Aliasing when in big races, but otherwise its fine.
