imo, everyone i've seen so far has been going on about this after anyone has posted a .bmp, so is it possible that we have bmps scratched off the list of upload choices?

i would come up with a list of reasons why to get rid of them but i figure its kinda obvious lol

who cares about bmp - but i would care about some movie format.
like swf or avi. might be hard to put it all in a limited file size.
but ppl converting movies to put em online could fit essential scenes
in a low res under 1 mb.

especially the new flash movie codec is incredibly good.
i'd love to see swf's as attachment.

Well I dont know about videos, I dont want another youtube lol
but disallowing bmp seems good, even though it will hurt ppl who want to upload small bmps.
So maybe add a php script that recompresses BMPs as jpg if the size is too large

Agreed, nobody would consider posting a video in uncompressed RGB, then why should we allow bitmaps?
