[EXTREME] "Earthlings"
Narrated by Golden Globe Winner (best actor, Walking the Line) Joaquin Phoenix, featuring music by the critically acclaimed platinum artist Moby

Earthlings exposes the atrocities committed against animals, that if viewed in human terms would amount to the most evil crimes against humanity, and should (I hope someday will) be considered as such. It is an important and informative film, fueled by horrific images captured through an unflinching camera lens.

Yeah, we as humans have definitely something to be proud of. Amazing films by the way. What surprises me that no one on this forum has yet posted anything about these videos..!! People here are usually quick to voice their opinion

I have managed to get through the first 5 videos but it was very hard, i strugelled in places. I like animals and not just dogs, cats what people usually consider as human pets but i like all animals. I have more respect for animals that I have for humans and these videos clearly highlight why, I just cant believe that we as the supperior species disregard animals as simply objects, food which you can murder in massive numbers..

Seeing things like this really makes me ashamed of being human, i am disghusted!

I hope as many people watch these videos and see the reality of animal slaughter and how it is done. To atleast make one thing about the meat you are just about to buy in the shop...
"If everyone needed to kill his/her own animals for food, we all would be vegetarians", (or something like that what was said) pretty much describes what is going on.

I'm watching the 3rd one and I'm already struggling. I have seen this or similar film before and it is always just as shocking.

One thing bothers me though. On the 2nd/3rd part there were those cows going into the "processing" and they did seem to be conscious even if they were "shot to the head" earlier. The animals were defenately moving. Now, I don't want to be cruel or stupid but aren't those "moves" normal after death - post death compulsiry movements or something similar?

That's something I tell people who say "oh poor animals" and then eat a steak. My theory is that if you want to eat meat then you HAVE to kill and "clean" atleast one animal in your lifetime - if you still have the stomach for it then you've earned it.

Yes, I do eat meat - and yes, I have done the above multiple times.

+1.

The moral vegetarian has a good case. The aware meat-eater also has a good case. The I-don't-want-to-think-about-it-just-give-me-my-burger people do not have a good case.
Hey buds, just do your part, show to as many people as you can,and hope they do the same, you cant even imagine how much that helps allready...

my god - im not usually affected by things like this (not that i dont care, im just strangely distant to the world) - but i feel sick watching, i'm only at no. 4, but seeing someone throughing a live dog in a dust cart, and the whole of the slaughterhouse part has really scared me, and made me disgusted with humanity
OMG.... WATCH number 8... its about experiments on animals and there is a scene where they tie a pig down and use a blow torch to inflict burns on the skin of the pig (whilst alive!!) ... i was utterly and deeply shocked by that! the suffering the animal must have gone through!! all for science?

man what a load of b****

i cant watch it, i can barely watch the adverts on TV with the sad looking dogs, no way am i watching this.

Im not vegi, and its not so bad actually killing an animal which has actually been born for that purpose, but there death is like instant (im hoping), but putting an animal through this kind of torture is just horrific.
I stopped about halfway through the second one. Call me weak willed if you want but there's something about live dogs being chucked into a gas chamber by their necks that puts me off watching it.

EDIT: Also the bit before with the dogs being injected really got to me. I know it's the most humane way to do it but the way their bodies just flopped down really freaked me out.

the instant death did look wierd, but it seemed to be the "nicest" way, i stopped at 5, although am watching the part in 8 on animal research now
gets worse in 8... they place a metal helmet onto a monkey and thrust it with insane about of g forces to test brain damage.. they do this for research to see how the brain damages in crashes, boxing, american football.. etc....

and in the military research bit they test nuclear weapon blasts on dogs and other animals..!

just seen that bit - drawn the line, i feel physically sick and physically cannot watch any more

If you didnot watched , dont say anything either
Well Deko, who said animals are born here for the purpose of being killed...? all species on this planet developed together and we are just lucky to have had some really serious evolution to get to our state....

but it doesnt say anywhere animals are here to be killed.....

+++1. if i had to kill any animal to eat it i would. after all, animals kill each other and eat them, so why cant we?
You havent watched it did you clownpaint ? The matter is not if we gona kill animals or not, point is if we are gona do it racionaly or not, if we gona destroy our planet doing it or not, and if we gona 'do it' the correct way, whit the lesser pain possible, or we are gona do it like the guys on the third part, riping them off ALIVE,taking theyr instestines while still alive (they some of them still keep alive for a while more), and make them breath theyr own blood during that...

Also I
Quote : would also kill animals for food if I wasn't having it packaged for me. What would you do, eat leaves and die?

man i hope you where talking about a survival situation on a wild enviroment, if not, what do you think we vegetarian eat, only leaves hehe? About the point of your post, i agree whit it, not totally but, ye
Quote from Clownpaint :I would also kill animals for food if I wasn't having it packaged for me. What would you do, eat leaves and die?

These videos are just evidence of what happens in a world where importance and power is measured by little bits of paper with fancy drawings on them (money). If people don't want this to go on, reject money, reject the system, and there won't be a system. Or.. you can keep pretending you really NEED those little bits of paper and let the system grow.

In a perfect world, money would not exist and humans would work to better humanity itself. Instead we work to increase the amount of money we have. I am a strong believer in the line "money is the root of all evil".

Edit: The moral of my post is, systems like this only exist because of people working for money.

Or, as the Bible puts it:
Timothy 6:10. 'For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.'

money isnt the route to all evil. peoples greed is. if we didnt have money, then people who where greedy would just ask for something else in turn for meat/clothes/whatever.

i have my own opinions on what the route to all evil is but i dont wish to offend anyone so ill keep them my own.
I won't give any numbers but:
1) If all human did not eat meat we had enough food for whole mankind
2) A huge amount of all crops goes to the animals' food to provide us enough meat. Imagine how much food 1,000,000 cows need and how much food does 1,000,000 humans need. Still, the 10,000 first humans want their meat, so the 990,000 have to starve.
3) ...

---
And lol, cp, it is not about surviving, it is about at least being humane. Lol, "What would you do, eat leaves and die?". Come on
Quote from Clownpaint :*Captain Slow - I did say "in a perfect world"

yea, you said in a perfect world there would be no money. if there was no money then how could something which does not exist be the route to all evil?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I WIN!!!

im only funnin dont take me seriously. im excited cos i discovered the chatterbox on lfs world.
Actually leaves are etable you could survive on a diet of greens... as thats what vegetarians do everyday and they live. Also if you dont eat meat you can always eat other things like wheat, corn, vegetables, rice and many more foods which you would survive on....

I myself dont eat vasts amount of meat, i havent had anything to eat thats meat for atleast 4 weeks... i dont eat pork or beef but i do ocassionaly have the od chicken here and there...

Hyperactive raises a very good point, a lot of food is wasted on feeding our animals for meant which then only gives enough food for a few people whilst the amount of food consumed by that animal is vast and would feed a lot more people.... I eat a lot of soya, micoprotein and meat free products, they are more nutrisous a healthier to eat that meat, but this isnt a discussion what is healthy and what isn't, its about how we treat animals who we share the planet with, the suffering we cause, the desctruction we cause which is all unecessary if only people would give up a bit of that money so that atleast the animals can live more peacefully before they are butchered to be served on peoples plates. I look at the killing of an animal as murder as i cannot distinguish what the difference is between the death of a human and an animal. To me they are both living things, they feed, they breed, they feel, they live in groups, they have legs, eyes, ears and brain and just because they look different and dont have the developed brains as humans have thats gives us the right to treat them like they were nothing??

Sorry but i disagree...... the only thing humans have done is overpopulate the planet, destroy it along the way and we are still destroying it on a daily basis, start wars, cause hunger and disease.... arghgh i can just go on

its a topic i feel very strongly about....
I don't know if this film implied any of this.... but sure there is animal cruelty all around the world... but look how big this earth is, and how quickly the population of humans has grown!!! Humans use all the resources they can to live, and whoever made this film wouldn't be around if it wasn't for ancestors slaughtering animals in the forests and whatnot.

Sure it is sad seeing what the treatment of animals is like, even with pets... but I think there is no stopping it with the rate humans are filling the face of the earth.

These filmmakers every hear of a damn FOOD CHAIN????
I think people are missing the point, which actually isn't "eating meat". It is about:

Quote from Madman_CZ :but this isnt a discussion what is healthy and what isn't, its about how we treat animals who we share the planet with, the suffering we cause, the desctruction we cause which is all unecessary if only people would give up a bit of that money so that atleast the animals can live more peacefully before they are butchered to be served on peoples plates.

It is as simple as this: "imho, killing an animal for food isn't basically wrong, but killing for fun, killing for pleasure or killing for pain certainly is"

Tweaker can take his food chains with him... food chain doesn't mean that cooking pigs alive is right.
It's not the fact that the animals are getting killed to be eaten, it's the way they're killed and abused AFAIK

EDIT: a bit late
#25 - need
Quote from Hyperactive :I won't give any numbers but:
1) If all human did not eat meat we had enough food for whole mankind

We produce enough food to feed the whole of mankind anyway, without the above idea.
There is enough food stockpiled and then dumped each year by the so-called 'developed' nations, ie. USA, Canada & the European nations & a few others, to supply all the nations experiencing food shortages with more than enough to get by on.

The fact that they don't do so, is about politics and money, so not really a conversation for here.
