Editing tail/head lights
I just got into editing dds files and I wanted to know how to edit lights so they look realistic I.E the 180sx tail lights someone made, they look clean and not cartoonish. I have been trying to find out how to make the lights look good but I can't find out how..help?
can you show us a picture of what you want and what you call "cartoonish"?

What I created:

It doesn't fit in, looks cartoonish, and no way of it looking like a real light..

Something I want my lights to look like:

They fit in, look nice and like they came with the game or something. Unlike mine!!

It's Quite simple. When you done it, you have painted it all black, and then painted in the colors of the Light ( red, white, orange) If you "paint" it'll look cartoonish... what you have to do is paint it all black using another layer, and "chop" tha parts you want to light... instead of painting... so you'll use the original texture and it'll look more realistic... i hope you can understand what i tried to say...
because you have ovals that just plain dont fit in

i cant say i've ever come across oval brake lights, if anything make them circles

So I just make a new layer, paint over the light , then just use the original and cut out designs how I want them?? But for the fxo, since there are 2 parts of redness and theres a black line, do i just copy a part and paste over the line??

what i said is :

better way... you paint the hole tail light black. Then you select the forms you want not to be black ( you have to know, where is the brake, signal and reverse lights ). and then use the Historic Pencil... it'll be the original texture where you ewant to ligh up.
hi

And to the next poost above this, WTF?
On this subject, what file lets you edit the headlights and tailights of the car shown in this thread? I think its called the xr gt turbo?

He means, in English: "I really do like those rear lights that you posted in your pictures, may I please have the opportunity to download them, but since I do not know how to install them I will need guidance on that also."

I have never messed with rear lights, but front lights are easy to change.

Just get Paint.net
It's not the same as paint...
paint.net is freeware (or shareware) almost as good as PS, (with layers)

search on google for paint.net...

Don't do Illegal things on this forum or you might get banned I guess...
And don't do illegal things, cause that is just stupid
AND FREE!

but on the other side, paint.net is also free... LEGALLY free...
