started this poll to see what FPS people are running at and to see if mine is low

Laptop 21-50FPS

51-90 (with a full grid), could hit over 130 all the time but without AA lfs is just... horrid!

You are gonna laught a lot, my pc only gives 20fps and with a full grid 3fps, so i turn off the sound when a race is gonna start so i got like 10fps, I can handle it

with a full grid about 70 fps with my new pc

Completely useless without comparing specs AND settings. I could get 5 FPS or I could get 100, depending on how I configure. Either of those extremes would be unplayable for me.

The unofficial LFS Benchmark is where you want to compare FPS using the same cfg.txt file and resolution. I think it is in a sticky thread.

If my FPS drops below 100 now I wonder what is wrong (maybe lots of AI). Running everything on max, except anti-alaising, which above 8x I see now improvement.

On my old PC I used to sacrifice a lot of FPS for the smoothness of 2x AA, which I think is a very important trade off. Without any AA the jaggediness gives me a headache (in any game), but FPS around 40 doesn't.

How can i get more fps?? i get so pissed when im going faster and sudently the screen stops! i just wanna hit my cpu and kill the pc (i dont do that cuz i dont have another pc lol) Help!

Well, what kind of rig you have then? There is no secret tricks I think, upgrading could be the only option if you want more fps.

I'm having, 56-20 fps myself. My good old 9600XT isn't that great anymore but I don't feel like upgrading because it's enough for my PC gaming at the moment which is only LFS and RBR.

Well i think thats the only way, i have 32mb of video and like 224mb of ram i can put 64mb of video, do you think is a good idea?

ftw! i on laprtop and i chose 0-20 cos ai dont see more than 25 fps , which gives me a headache.. but its ok cos you get used to it life @ 25-30 fps.

1280x1024x32 everything on full detail, no AA or AF nonsense, 60fps constantly, I have screen refresh rate at 60Hz so no point to put more fps to cause jitter etc. Also constant fps is much nicer to race.

I don't know how much it would be unlimited, 200 or more I guess ?

I get with al min. settings and 1024 res. with 3 other cars in the screen like 5-8 fps on laptop! This sucks!! And the only possible view is from the wheels. Got to get new pc!

PC 0-20 for me.

With a full grid i have gotten 1.5 fps. So i always like to start last or pull over and wait till everyone passes me at the start. IF i get 13 FPS online then i am the only person within a 300 yard radius. Around 8 fps i can get the sound to kick in again. Luckly, my dad says we're updating the system soon.

It kills me to see 20 fps max, my dad's laptop can hit 90.

90+ on the PC. On my laptop, 50-90

10-80 depending on traffic...so no option for me.

50-90 is way too generic. You should have at least done in 10's such as 50-60, 60-70, 70-80 then 90+ anyway. i usually get around 81+ fps, but oddly my computer slows down when i turn. I need to reformat really bad, once i do that ill probably back to the usual 90 With my laptop i get 50+

I get 100+ on my good old "made for LFS" PC (AA+AF maxed @ 1024) and about 30-80 on my WS laptop (2xAA 2xAF) depending on cars in view and driving view

EDIT: @ Jtbo, you are really missing out with no AA+AF with the ATI 8XX cards the quality is awsome

Oh, and I have all the bells and whistles on. All of them, so.. 1600x1200, full AA and AF, improved textures etc.

It's a fairly mid-range system, too. I don't see how people can get less than 60 fps on minimum settings with any half-decent PC.

ATI X800GTO²LE (underclocked X850XT basically, but not for me )
1024MB RAM

Well I have V-sync on to avoid tearing, but I usually get around 80-90fps at 1680x1050 with 4x AA. Mmmm new 20" glossy widescreen is SO nice

used to get 0 - 10 now 10 - 30 with a few tweaks to lfs ( no shine... 640 x 460 resolution) 20 is good... 30 is good 50+ is just insane
