I have been with LFS since the demo days and always appreciated its approach etc. but having learned how to sim with GPL and early being spoiled with netKar namie I never liked LFS tyre physics. The last ones I had tested were shortly after tyre temps had been implemented and they still sucked IMO.
Now I got a new computer und installed LFS to test my hardware (because it always works flawlessly) and what do I notice?

It's perfect! Tyres regain grip properly and I'm finally able to drive like I would drive a car!!!

I spent some hours now with the FZ50 and the Raceabout, the latter which is finally driveable and the fun it always was supposed to be, soon you'll see me online!

When were the physics so dramatically updated?

Patch U was the last physics update, and yes the tyres are much much better

Also going from an older PC to a new one will always make a defference to the feel of a game like LFS...

Well obviously always being updated but there was quite a change in the april update earlier this year. Dont know if thats when you were talking about though.

The latest breakthrough in tyre physics came with patch T on Apr 21st, together with the addition of the BMW Sauber.

It's said not to be perfect yet, but the April update was a big step forward no doubt.

Yes, nothing is perfect, but anyways it feels much much much much better than what it felt like for what was it? 4 years?

yeah the tyre physics are good, but not excellent yet.

Well, they're pretty good. I had a bit of a "wow" moment recently when I put the BF1 sideways into a corner. It stopped 90deg to the track and I thought I saw a bit of sideways "wobble" as the tyres were stressed so I played back the replay in slow motion and had a really good camera view of the car. I was amazed to see the flex in the sidewalls as the car stopped - very much like the real thing, wobbling it sideways.

You can see the tyre flex on normal cars if you look at the wheels-only view and steer hard left/right, especially coming from grass to tarmac with some lock.
