Question of formatting hard drive partitions
I recently bought a new hard drive and installed windows on one partition of it. no problem...... the other partition was unformatted (unallocated)..... i'm not sure how to format it.

do i make it a primary partition or an extended partition? it will not be holding any operating systems. it will only be storage.

thank you,

Steve

Right click My Computer > Manage.

Click Disk Management in the left pane, you should be able to see the unallocated partition on the right.

Right click it and assign it a drive letter etc.

that didn't answer my question.

You should read something about it to understand the difference of Primary or Extended Partition and Logical Drives etc.

It's explained in an easy understandable way here:

If you got it you can answer your question yourself really easily
thank you, that was a very helpful link.
