i still maintain its an 80's toyota supra :P
The XRT looks so much nicer than the Starion. All pics I've seen of a Starion or old crappy cars...

there are other Station models which look exactly the same as our beloved XRT...you just got to know where to look...WTF, what a coincidence theres one on tv drag racing a motorcycle."winer - Starion turbo" wins
The XRT has a huge spoiler on it...
Quote from Drift_0k :i thought it looked like Ryosuke car in initial d.

At a guess it was a RX-7 FC. I think it is starion but there is some rx7 in there with the bonnet vent and spoiler.

Don't know what Starion is, but I guess it is another rebadged car, really don't get idea of rebadging, makes just things complicated.
RX7 is product of Mazda corporation, one of few cars that use Wankel engine.

What you probably did not know is that one Finnish guy did invent similar engine almost same time, however because lack of funding and some other issues he did not manage to patent it before Wankel did his and this Finnish guy's invention was abandoned and forgotten.
Story was first time published in one local car magazine at 90's, rather interesting it was to read.

LFS cars may look like some cars IRL, but they are perhaps not very well based to anything IRL, specs are so different and surely looks are not perfectly same as any single car, well, except MRT, well RAC and UF1000, there is of course this BF1 too and...

Famous rotary brothers, yellow FD & white FC. I wonder, do they need licenses from car companies to get those in series

The Starion is not a rebadged car. It's a car that was made by Mitsubishi and a certain model looks exactly like the XRT. Also, the XRT is nothing like the RX-7.. I don't know where you got that from!

Without reading badge impossible to tell which is which

IF you are standing with a blindfold on your eyes - then YES

One has four cylinders one has a rotary engine

Same for this ridiculous theory that people reckon a car with a flat 6 in the back is obviously a Ferrari because 'it looks a bit like one'.

Liscencing laws are different over in japan, and animation is treated as a legitimate artistic medium.

So it's viewed the same way as writing a book and noting that the main character drivers a celica.
It's a bit of a mix really.. I personally view it as an RX-7.. but that's just because I like them (says the guy driving a Porsche 944 haha)
Starion itself is the original model; the Dodge Conquest (released in the States) is the rebadged Starion that started the great(?) DSM legacy.
The XR series and Starion both also share a lot of styling cues with the '87 to '91 Dodge Daytona ... probably not a coincidence since Mitsubishi and Chrysler corp were doing a lot of colaboration at the time.

The earlier '84 to '86 Daytonas were designed in the same studio as the Porsche 928, park them next to each other and you see the little similarities ...
