Danny,

Let me clear the air about a couple of things.

1) I am glad to see that you speak with your potential team members on MSN prior to letting them join. I would challenge you to be even more selective, though. Most of the guys, if not all, that have joined CoRe Racing have been friends of the team for a period of time that let us be comfortable with them before we asked them to join. Notice that? "Before WE ASKED THEM to join." That means that after we were comfortable with these drivers and had raced with them for a while, did we decide to ask them to join. In some cases, even after they were asked, we still took a vote about whether to add them. Anyway, just remember it only takes one bad apple to ruin the bushel. CoRe Racing is also not concerned about being the "best" team, but we are extremely selective of who we add. And because of that, we do have a very strong team. More importantly, they are a very good group of guys to be around.

2) Preston was not kicked and subsequently banned from LOTA servers for wrecking in the sense that you may think. He caused accidents after joining mid-race, while being lapped, and then proceeded to use vulgar language to argue and lay blame on the other driver, who was clearly not at fault. After we warned him to settle down, he was kicked for continuing his assault. He came back to argue once more, again with a fair bit more vulgar language, which I won't tolerate. He was then perma-banned. A couple of days later, I got word from the Wrecker's Barricade that he had been reported. I reviewed the replay, and proceeded to perma-ban him from the CoRe servers as well. And YES, he was wearing a Moo tag when he was banned, but no, I don't remember the exact date.
Quote from Leifde :I know you may think it is a bit high but I have set 10 members as the limit. We will then get to know each other, well we're already doing that but never mind. I do not want to give up on this team, if some people leave then its their choice, I can't do anything to stop them but I will carry on. I have started this team with the view to make it pretty well-known, hopefully for the right reasons, whereas some of the other new start ups, such as Castrol, didn't I suppose. I agree with what you are saying, that the teams that just accept anybody generally go down within the first month, but our team is not like that. Sure, we'll accept people pretty new to LFS but we expect them to be good drivers, as proven by the fact I have already booted someone off the team for being on the wrecker's barricade. Most, if not all, of our members play LFS for fun, nothing serious, which was the mindset I had when creating the team.

I guess what I was trying to say above is that we are selective, just not as selective as some of the more 'major' teams, which, IMO you cannot afford to be when you're just starting up.

Who was it you booted?
Quote from th84 :Banshee is right, you really need to be more selective in adding new member's, which is basically what I meant by quality is much more important than quantity (and I dont mean quality racer's, but quality people overall).

We basically make people stalk us before we even consider accepting them (boosted, our most recent addition, is a exception to this rule because we/I have known him for quite sometime now). However, everything that we do now is due to mistake's we have made in the past and learned from those mistake's. But were not really concerned with being seen as a "top team" (hence the name :P), we just like to have fun. So, I guess your approach to recuriting should be based on the type of team you wish to have.

I think you will be fine Danny, just do what you feel is right. The only way you will learn from your mistake's is to make them.

I see another demo league in the future, and the winner get's, not only a s2 voucher, but a free ticket to join Moo racing!!!

"Moo Racing.... Got Milk?"

I see what you mean about getting members who can get on, not just any people who haven't even met the members but I wanted to get a small(ish) team setup and then get the team-members interacting. If any of them obviously don't fit in with everyone else it'll create tension and, I hate to say it but I will ask them to leave.

Yes, there will be another demo league in the future, maybe starting next month, I don't know, I seem to have no time at the moment. (I do really, it's just my excuse for being lazy ) I could offer the winner a place on the team but I'm not sure it some people would see it as a bad thing

1) I see what you are saying. I basically replied to this while replying to th84's post so I look up there.

2) Causing accidents and blaming other people, even if the accident was purely an accident, is still bad. The replay on the wreckers barricade is blatant wrecking and that's the reason I kicked him off the team. Thanks for telling me about him, I think I got a PM from you about him? Anyway, I'm glad he's off the team.

And lastly, this is to both of you, thanks for the advice, I have taken it in and I will use it, in fact I'll cap the number of members now, at 8. It's a start, anyway

@SketchyRollin564 - It was Preston4321
I wasn't aware of this team. Oh well, Moo is just their catchphrase anyway so it won't make any difference to the team.

You could change the name to Mooo racing
We had a couple of nice races tonight, i enjoyed it

Liked the first combo, quick one AS club reverse with F0X

I had the idea the team members are fine, nice guys and good racers. Not to far above my level, and not to far below either, its great to drive some different combo's then the usual ones with moo

Maybe we should start a (internal) thursday night league in the future, when we are settled
I really enjoyed tonight, sorry I wasnt on much though and I hated those combos. I like to new ones in my own time, not with team members around me

But, a regular thing would be great
I like new ones with team members, gives me a good indication of the times to reach.

Also i can learn alot from driving behind a faster driver for a lap, watch for the brake lights and lining

It's also a bit less boring in race, but you have to build up the speed to stay on the track. Otherwise the race is lost at the first time going off. Finished in top 3 a couple of times tonight by consistent not so fast racing(fast after that on the first combo, didnt like the 2nd)
Yeah, it was fun tonight and I think making this a weekly thing is a good idea. The only thing is its a bad time for our American teammates.

I think im the only american team-mate. What time did you have the races? Im looking forward to having a "real" race with the moo team sometime soon. The last one doesnt realy count, because that was more "crash everyone and their AI!" Either way, it was still fun.

HAHA! Blue flag one is awsome.

MOO racing PWNS JU!
Are there still places in the team? Cos im interested in joining
Sorry trebor901 but we're not accepting any new members now. I'm sorry about that though. I guess if you could get a majority vote from our members I'd have to accept you. (In other words, prove why you should be in the team )

@everyone - Our slogans now are:

"Moo Racing....Got Milk?"
"Keep it Moo.ving"
"Forget ValveTronic, VTEC and Turbooooooo, MOO POWA PWNS!!!!"

@Sketchy - we started at 6pm GMT. Maybe we could move the races to weekends to try and accommodate your time zone.

@everyone - I was supposed to be karting this weekend but that doesn't look so hopeful anymore, I think my chassis is bent
Quote from Leifde :

A little tip if you don't know is to measure the corner weights of the kart. Get hold of 4 bathroom scales (preferably the same as they need to be the same height, we bought ours from Argos) and lay them on a flat surface. Sit the kart on top (obviously with engine etc), sit in it and get someone to take the readings all the way round. If it's bent you'll find one corner of the kart with a lot of weight on it. That's what I used to do and it's what I did when locating where to put my seat and ballast weight.

This is of course if you don't have access to the proper equipment

If it's bent, ouch! My Dad's chassis was bent and we spent so many hours jumping on a bar, with a few heavy mates and the first outing with it the thing sprung back to its bent shape.

Good luck with your team guys and Puma Motorsports wants to face you guys in a bangers competition... add me on msn if you wanna schedule something.
Quote from Leifde :
"Forget VTEC, we have MOO POWER!" (I've forgotten the full version of this one :shy

Since i made it , Its, Forget ValveTronic, VTEC and Turbooooooo, MOO POWA PWNS!!!!

I managed to get my kart running for today so I went to race. I was second novice, 10th overall. I was 0.41 behind getting a trophy It was a fun day though.
Good news mate and sorry to hear about the close finish.
