manual clutch
hi fellow racers,

i was on stcc server today and i got my gold licence:trophy: ,i went to drive the FXO and said CUT TROTTLE ON UPSHIFT and that was ok,my first question is,is this much slower? i had to use this beacause i do not have the G25 so i couldnt use a clutch pedal, but that is were i was wrong as i messed around for awhile trying different setups i said ahh sure why not try a manual clutch,so i assigned the clutch pedal to the "0" key on the steering, and its GREAT! took abit to get use to but its worth it,
is using a manual clutch faster? also is there anyone in the same case, let me know your setup

thanks
What, you are using button clutch? Thats not manual, could be considered as cheating as it's a lot quicker than a proper clutch.
yes the "0" key on the DFP wheel its handy because there is where my thumb rests so easy to use ,try it out
Yes, check my mighty edit (was faster than the forums, yay!).

It was thought as cheating in S1 I'm sure, don't know if it's the same in S2 that you can gain some time with it.
Cheating is a strong word, but, unfair advantage maybe?

Was faster than the forums for the second time...yay!

In S1 you could set a button to do manual clutch using macros, that was cheating, button clutch is OK because it simulates the time it takes to press the pedal [etals:]
haha,is it know the be "cheating" i didnt know that
No it's not cheating. It was faster back in S1, but that has been fixed long ago. Having a H-gate shifter is still the fastest, though I hope the quite unrealistic pre-select shifting technique will be removed one day.

Hmm...was that method called as button clutching then?
Because I'm pretty sure the talk was always about button clutch, so did the people actually mean the playing with the macros? But even without macros, you could press clutch and shift up simultaneously.

No no! I said it wasn't cheating! :talktohan:stan:

You can't do macro clutching anymore, so button clutching is fine! :Handshake

I knew it as macro-clutching, bearing in mind this is 2 years back in S1 days though!

Basically the macro meant LFS thought your button was an actual analogue clutch pedal moving very fast.
ok thanks guys,i found it better, especially in the areas in trying to slow down any of ye try it ?
anyone experiment this ?

You can just disable the aid even without clutch. All it means is that YOU have to lift off when you change gear instead of the aid doing for you.

Unrealistic and (with a seq. stick) very confusing. If you miss a shift it's hard to tell what gear you're going to select next time you dip the clutch.

No, STCC requires it off at the higher levels along with other aids.

What this aid does, when enabled, is quickly cut the throttle when you change gears to stop the revs going too high.

When the aid is off, as required by STCC, you are responsible for the lift off while you shift. I think the only aid STCC allows is clutch but I could be wrong.

Just turn off all aids apart from clutch unless you run a clutch
