Swiss motorsport ban repealed!
Yes, finally!
Has Bremgarten been built over? I imagine it hasn't as supposedly they have had revival meetings there ... It would be in no way usable now but as the track was used in the 50s it has motorsport history.
I wonder why the hell it was banned so long? I mean pretty much any law made in the 50s doesn't usually apply in year 2007. When I first heard about this law few years ago that I thought it was a joke.

I doubt Bremgarten will ever be brought up to modern safety standards because of the fact it's very long and give the long forest stretches would provide issues organising run off areas, plus I imagine it's still on public roads and I think that trying to close roads off for motorsport may just tilt the Swiss back the wrong way again.
Bremgarten was dangerous back then, it'll be dangerous now.

Apparently it has only passed through one level of parliament, and in the past the "upper house" has voted down similar proposals.

I'd be glad to see racing back in Switzerland, there are so many Swiss teams, it's a bit unfair they never get to race at home.

Circuit length: 4.524 miles/7.279 km
It dosn't even look like it would be safe...
hopefully there will be soon somekind of city-race for touringcars... Maybe the DTM would start there or the WTCC next year

Although there are this problems I am realy happy to see Switzerland's racing back in buisiness (I mean the Swiss F3 have got Hill Climb races. To have real races they had to go to Austria, Germany, France, Italy...)
OK, I posted without thinking about Bremgarten ...

The DTM would be a good idea, but as seen as there are no tracks anyway I guess some street circuits would be used

The prohibition dates from 1955, when more than 80 spectators died in a crash during the Le Mans race. [from the link in 1st post]

There was a race in Les Mans where 80 people died in ONE crash???
Yes, an Mercedes crashed into the barrier if I remember correctly and the car and parts like the engine flew right through the crowd of spectators.
