TO the movie masters:a question of quality.
I have Fraps, and I have Windows Movie Maker. Now I have an idea, a typed out storyboard, and a selling pitch to a certain individual who does coding for this game. It will take me an estimated 100-200 hours to make this, but when I do finish it, it will be spectacular.

Can I make something of quality with these two programs? What do YOU suggest? Adobe Premiere?

Keep in mind my patience is virtually endless, so I can deal with "sub standard" programs.

100-200 what? Teacakes?
That is a lot of teacakes by anyone's standards.
100-200 hours to make. Fixed.
as a Adobe fan... I'd recommend Adobe Premiere.. .and if ur patience is as endless as you say.. i'd say to get Adobe After Effects as well.

Others might come and recommend Sony Vegas, I have it its pretty similar to Adobe Premiere ON FIRST SIGHT... many ppl say they can do the stuff Premiere and After Effects do together in Sony Vegas alone.

so have fun

btw you might wanna have a GOOD pc...

have fun

I agree.

Only reason I'd recommend Sony Vegas,is because it is a litlle more streamlined(as in,things are a bit easier to follow for a beginner),and has(well for me it does) a little steeper learning curve. If I were you, Jay,i'd download trials of Premiere,After effects and Vegas, and do some testing, and see which one suits me more.

To summarise: Vegas: Better for beginners and amateurs, things are done easier. Not as advanced. Cheaper.
Premiere+After Effects: Harder to use. Combination and knowledge of both can produce some spectacular results (Unokeva's vids anyone?) Both cost more. For professionals.

For comparision,some of the videos:

just a link to the thread...but I bet you have seen it.....http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=20985

I think that by watching these videos will give you a good insight on all video editing programs mentioned.Of course, having an idea about what kind of video you want to make, its story,is the most important.

Hope this helps.
^ Not sure is that right way to compare Vegas & Premiere... different videos, different makers...

I'd recommend Sony Vegas too. For me it felt much easier (interface) than Premiere, from the first second I used it. Premiere might be the "ultimate" editing software in the end but especially if you're new to video editing, you won't running out of features in Vegas anytime soon.

http://forums.creativecow.net/index.html - this page has lots of tutorials, also other than Vegas. there's a message board too where you get pretty quickly answers from experts.
