Testing the physics of LFS
I was just wondering, what kind of monitors, you physics developers of LFS use for testing it afterwards.

I'm asking because today there are so many different LCD monitor out there with big screen, different types of panels and so on... blabla

The point towards I'm going is that most of this pretty big screen monitor have really huge input lags attached to them, hidden by the the company, who is making them.

I had only 2 different LCD monitors during the past 2 years, but one of them "Samsung 215TW" had a so big input lag, that it was horrible playing any racing games on it. My current one is Samsung 226BW with the lowest input lag for a 22" monitor I could find is light years better then the last one.

So I'm just wondering what types of Monitors do LFS developers use, if at all a LCD monitor and what do the drivers use for playing the game as well.

Check out this link for input lag on newer LCD monitors.

well, i'm using a trusty old Sony Trinitron Multiscan 17" CRT monitor built i think in about 1997. works a treat, no dramas at all and fantastic refresh rates at higher res.

although i might upgrade to some sort of lcd sooner rather than later.
Sony FW900 24" widescreen CRT (about the same size as a 22" widescreen LCD)
Max res: 2304x1440 @ 80Hz
Current res: 1920x1200 @ 85Hz

It's fricken enourmous (100 lbs) but I don't get any lag at all.

There was a pic floating around here somewhere of Scawen's setup which included three 21" CRTs hooked up to a Matrox Parhelion video card. I seem to recall that he has since upgraded the video card. I'm not sure about the monitors.
I'm using a 17" Samsung SyncMaster 701T TFT-monitor (yes, its old :shrug with 12ms response time. its ok for me
well yeah but response time is not same as input lag. But yours shouldn't have any problem with input lag anyway. To old

Also here is a link for newer and bigger monitors. So if you own something expensive and newer it most likely will be here and tested for lag.

Samsung 940BF with 2ms response time here, no idea on input lag but i've never noticed any. I chose it because it has no weak specifications, contrast and brightness are good and it doesnt have blurring when travelling fast.
I recently switched from a 17" Samsung Trinitron CRT to a 20" widescreen Acer LCD @ 1680x1050. Took me about a week to adjust to the difference but it's back to normal now.

IIRC he has a widescreen Dell (not sure about the size) now. It was in one of the baby pictures.

I have a Samsung 205BW myself. It works
I'd be wary of TFTs with ultra fast response times. Last I heard they made a huge jump from like 20ms to 4ms - turns out they were cheating and had a internal frame buffer which delayed what came from the GFX card by 3 frames, giving it time to prepare the pixels for changing thus resulting in faster response times. The obvious drawback is a delayed image that is especially noticeable in first person shooters.
I have a Daewoo. I guess Daewoo monitors are so terrible that they didn't even bother testing them.
Benq FP202W 20.1" widescreen with 8ms response time. I can play LFS perfectly, just as I could on my old CRT monitor.
Using a HP W19 with no problems whatsoever. Then again most modern TFT monitors don't suffer refresh problems like they did when they were first available.
22" Mirai widescreen, one of the cheapest available I would imagine.
Samsung 226BW. Pretty crappy monitor to be honest, but it's nice and big and cheap.

I'm tempted to go back to CRTs but they're so heavy, and I move house quite a lot...

21" Sony CRT. I work a lot with graphics, so I can't go TFT. I got sick of listening to friends telling me their TFT was as good at colour rendition as their old CRT only to find the truth mockably different. CRT FTW for the foreseeable future. And anyone else who tells me that the Mac TFT monitors are any better may as well just go jump off a bridge, to save me the effort of pushing them and their Mac monitor off, after wasting my money.

wise choice , i guess i have same DML522W100 works nice with no vsync
I picked up a ViewSonic VX924 a couple of years ago and it's absolutely flawless. One of the best things I've ever bought, actually.

Xerox xM3-22WB - 22" Widescreen, super cheap but i like it!
Hahaha, some of those Leo snaps are awesome. Great to see he's an LX6 fan.
Shotglass turned me on to the input lag issues with LCDs and I was a bit worried since I've only had mine (Viewsonic VX2235wm) for 3 months or so. Luckily, although there's some input lag, it's pretty minimal (according to that site) and I don't really notice it. In fact, I'm pretty sure any image response issues I have are directly linked to my cheap-o low-res/low-refresh-rate wireless mouse :P.
21 " 1280x960 ( I just like that resolution ). 1600x1200 or 1900x1200 is not an issue also.
