I got my toyota corolla (89(?) Hatch) back after a few months of lending it to my brother (he managed to crash the damn thing pretty bad) so i took it out foot to the floor down a hill and it wouldnt go past 120kph I've had it up to about 130 on a flat peice of road before. Not gonna let my brother touch the car again!
Although its used in the Audi adds, its still German
My dad had a 2.5 v6 and you couldn't go over 100mph (on a private road *shifty look*) because the suspension was so soft, you could easily lose control.
Just Saturday, my buddy who owns a hayabusa, slightly modded. Stretched and lowered, unsure of the other things besides exhaust, asked me if I wanted to go for a ride. I trusted him quite a bit considering he does a lot of racing so I hopped on back. On a empty part of the freeway we got up to 160mph in a very, very short distance. He said he was only in 3rd gear, we were still accelerating hard, but his good judgment, he decided to slow it back down. Best fun I've had in a while.
Here's the bike:
Its road legal with that length? Surely the longer wheelbase makes it much harder to corner? The acceleration of the hayabusa is incredible especially when nutters throw turbos onto them.
I'm doing 130km/h quite often (when 120kph speed limit) with my 1983 240 D6 (top speed), it is not scary at all, but doing 70kph in Nissan Micra from 1986 was really scary :o
Pfft try doing 99mph in a '71 toyota corona.
On a 780km road trip back in early 90's I decided to see how fast it would go on a very long stretch of road. It took about 15 minutes to hit top speed but it nearly got to 100 mph and it was over 20 years old Actually it wasn't scary at all once you got over the shaking and vibrations around 60 mph it became errily smooth
One of my favourite cars was actually a '72 corolla to most it appeared to be a grannies car but they had great little engines with power bands from about 4500 rpm up to 6000 rpm standard, and just were alot of fun to drive if you weren't shy about reving them out the engine never used to drop below 4500 often
since i'm only 16 the fastest in a car has been 120mph on the m57 just outside of liverpool, same speed twice, two different cars, both times scared, because the two noobs driving were looking and talking to me, when in the back. Best experience of going fast was 100mph in a merc s55 amg (in the blink of an eye) but felt completely safe (helps knowing the driver is a former clubman rally driver). Fastest i've ever driven myself was 40mph on a public carpark, in a Nissan Primera. I don't trust other people driving fast, apart from my dad as he took the advanced driving test for driving fire engines, and only dropped one point , because i don't like to feel that i'm not in control.
I'm not that crazy, driving old Toyota above 60kph (something like 35 ancient units, I guess ) is pure maddness, about as safe as driving a bike
My smaller Volvo don't like too much from speed, it seem to need wider road that there is available if you try to go past 160kph, but it does require some attention to suspension, 19 years old bushings might need some fresh rubber
Been driven at 140mph in my cousins cavalier (2.5 V6, but not the sri model. cant remember which one it was!) fastest ive done.well, i havnt really. although my cousins friend owns a runway so i shall take my capri out on it soon! (once ive got another 20-30bhp from it) hoping for about 120mph.
theres a new commercial on tv and ads around the place with people who speed. no one thinks big of you (and the chick wiggles her pinky to show that the guy speeding isnt big)..
i dnt really think people feel that way too much, but around here, everyones shit scared to speed now cause the whole point they speed in the first place is to be a dickhead and show off..
the fastest ive hit (16 now) was when i was 15 hit 180 on a highway.. yes very stupid but i know that NOW.. never made a mistake or anything, but what if i did.. yeh flame me i guess..
should be setting a new pb for myself.. gong to help work on some lump o crap supra with a 200 mph top speed so id say ill get close to that when testing the car to ensure everything works :P
