M3 Challenge *Free* Driving Sim
I know we all love LFS but who can say no to a FREE driving sim!

www.m3-challenge.com gives you the chance to take the new M3 Coupé for a spin around the Nurburgring GP track. I took it for a quick spin and its pretty sweet, well worth the download

I don't get it, how can ANYONE complain if all it costs is the time it takes to click the download link? :insane:

At least the graphics aren't from GTL, the track is way more detailed than the one in GTL... And as I doubt GTR² wouldn't feature the Nürburgring, I'd say he's right...
Im sure its based on the GTL engine and done by the creators of GTL..

Even if you had to pay for it, its been converted to GTR2 anyway so, i dont care :P

same with all the RACE07 stuff, thats coming over aswell

Quote from www.m3-challenge.com :The authentic racing feel of the “BMW M3 Challenge” is based on the international game success “GT Legends” award-winning technology, which was customized to duplicate this year’s M3 model in collaboration with the BMW engineers. The car’s performance, sound effects, visuals and the detailed reproduction of one of the most demanding racetracks in Europe, the Nürburgring, provide a thrilling, realistic test drive experience of the new sports car under racing conditions.

I will. As would a racing enthusiastic propably say no to free pedal car.
Tried it today.....dear...god.

First off, if thats how the M3 handles then thank christ i don't have one, i'd say its like driving the tank on TOCA lol, it's not too bad with the TC on level 1 and ABS but it kind of feels like cheating having them on.

Secondly, the internet lobby is a complete joke... i tried for 3 hours to get a race and all i got was application crashes, connection to server lost and connection to lobby lost... very poor.

Thirdly, I don't think you have a hope in hell of them adding any patches to it, which is a shame because it could be a great little free racing game, but at the moment... well its about as useful as the oval.
MmMM i imagine this was close to being in LFS too,(M5). seems similiar to the BF1 but I guess it would have to be for free.

Doubt it - the devs would have wanted the M3 in S2, and the BMW guys want a seperate game for the M3 - i don't think Scawen can take several months off with no development without some members of the community getting very annoyed.

its free for a reason, i played it and that sums it up..
hm, if the M3 and the nürbi were offered to be implemented into LfS with the premise that it would have to be free, then they could have always added it as demo content...

On the other hand, if one real track and car was in the demo, then buyers would have been alienated by the mostly fictional content in the S1+2 licenses.

But I guess that even a seperate "BMW" demo, with only the nürbi, the M3 (and possibly the Sauber) with no option to unlock S1+2 wouldn't have been so much of a hassle, at least to codewise.

Rattus - it would not advance LFS, though, only the devs pockets - while i can stomach that because they earn and 6 figure offers, LFS already gets criticised for being slow on development as it is.

AFAIK didn't rF get the BMW thingy because LFS wouldn't make a private game for them?
Since getting LFS I have never bothered even trying another race sim, this makes me glad I never have. People give out about LFS graphics, I played this at 1600x1200 all details maxed and I still prefer the clean smooth look of LFS. Same for the sound, worse than LFS imo. And the handling? didn't like the constant rumble in the wheel and the FFB in general didn't feel good. Never tried the multiplayer.

Not too bad for free I guess, not my cup of tea though.
I doubt it would take months. seeing as they would prob have support from BMW
