ill go wit that 20 inch acer one wall mounted one which mcintjry said
You can pretty much get wall mounts for any LCD monitor these days iirc. If not, it's not exactly hard to fabricate something that works. But like ajp71 said, why get a really nice card, but skimp on the monitor, it's like the "a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link" thing.

ok...i understand now, no point having a good vga, if you got a crap screen, ok ill go for 320mb vga, and a nice 22 inch 100 quid acer screen lol WALL MOUNTED! Smile

22" screens tend to have crappy panels from what I've heard (have a look in the monitors section) and £100 for a high quality 22" screen isn't going to happen Uh-hu
but he could get a cheap one and overclock it lmao

why dont you shutup ok?....at least some of the kinder people on this forum are being nice, and helping me out with buying a new pc, i bet thats all you'd do in your spare time...e.g. You come across a jug of milk or something, ooooh i know this will be my next joke, i bet all the fellas on the chatroom forum will be impressed, he'll use it to cool his CPU! wrong again slim, where do you get these idea from??
Quote from harjun :YEH BLAD! SHUTUP!

erm no. you seem to forget (very fast too i might add) you have made multiple threads asking for help overclocking your "stuff" and in that time you have managed to lie to everyone who was helping you, break everything you've touched and now your "building" a new system which in the title you said you will not overclock (title: Just some advice on new system (no overclocking it) ) and 7 posts later we get this
Quote from harjun :as i said....ive decided on the 640mb...it will increase fps loads...i hope for fps always above 100...no matter what, will that probably be the case?...and i will overclock the cpu only to 2.4ghz, its my lucky number Smile

which monitor and psu should i get then?

and i haven't even gotten onto the colin mcrae adventure you had.

i'm sorry, but not only have you walked into every comical garden rake, you're a classical joke wating to happen with every post you make......................please continue Thumbs up

Drop the Zalman for a Tuniq Tower, i'd onl get that mobo if you want RAID as the P5K is a better overclocker and why o' why are you going for a generic case?

Jakg, would it not be better if harjun gave you his max £ budget and you spec his system for him? it could end up alot faster than this method of shopping. just an idea
#38 - Jakg
This build was specced up buy a guy from another forum who knows a shed load more than me - He's added some crap (ie the Zalman) which is pretty rubbish.
shame, imo you'd do a better job and it would be more "harjun-proof" (if you get me Wink) because you know him better. m8, you have more patience (play on words harjun)than the nhs. fair play to you.
oh crap, no way could i get that, jakg, my budget is 500 quid....thoat things gone up to 830 quid inc. vat...Frown

jakg, please could you just suggest me a GREAT computer, great vga, good for playing games, keeps temp down, good for overclocking, wanna overclock when im a few years older and have common sense and GREAT for playing LFS on, my dads just gone, NO BOY! only 500 quid!!! please jakg Frown i wish to buy from e buyer as you know, and its gone up to 830 or something, and thats WITHOUT a psu Frown please jakg, help me

Seeing as i suggested something that's the same price give or take a tenner as what i suggested i fail to see how it's £800, unless you didn't remove the old mobo/CPU cooler/Case

Perhaps it's time to drop the Quad Core for an E2180?
ok...well its all the same stuff i forgot to drop the mobo...and case, sorry, but its now 620 with vat no screen or psu Frown

and that comptuer wasnt suggested by a guy from www.overclock.net....that was a different one, the one with the dual core, this one with the Q6600 was completely mine...apart from i stole his dvd writer he suggested Smile

so anny suggestions jack?

Drop the quad for an E2180, drop the GFX card for the cheapest 8600GTS you can find.

Should knock £150 off the price tag.
What you could do is look into some companies that make up powerful systems, such as alienware etc. Most of them allow you to 'build' a rig online and show you the individual component parts before you place an order. DON'T actually buy the PC from those sites, but shop around and get the items individually. You will save a lot of money compared to the list price by doing it this way.

If you are unsure of what goes with what this approach saves a lot of guesswork..

Hope this helps..

1GB should be fine.

FAIL!

Why buy good videocard and good processor, but only 1GB ram ?
Harjun definately get a 2x1 GB GOOD RAM!
Just an info about my system specs and what I've paid, maybe you can get a picture of where to save some money.

C2d 6550 boxed(as fast as the 6600) 150€
2x1gig of geil ram 100€
sapphire radeon hd2600xt 130€
nesteq 450W 70€
sharkoon rebel9 eco 35€
msi p35 neo2-fr 100€

That's a nice rig for 585€ (something around 400 pounds), I took the hdds and dvd burner out of my old computer.
My screen is an acer al2216wd, YES, it's a bloody tft and it was cheap, but its enough to play, do skins and watch tv on.
On a normal lfs installation I get at least 100 frames (at 60Hertz :-)), mostly around 180. I've got high res skins, tyres, tracks and the like, full graphics and still around 100 fps.

IMO you should buy stuff to USE, not to show off having good numbers standing in your sig. Don't ask for a new 911 when you can only afford some used Vauxhall ;-)

The 8600GT is faster than the 2600, tbh the 2600 is a bit naff.

I posted what i thought and got no responce *shrugs*

depends on which review you read:-)

the card I've got has the faster gddr4 ram, in some german benchmark sites the card is mostly between 8600gt and gts, but for me the thing was just cheaper, eats less Watts (something around 50!!!) and is cooler and more quiet than the gefarts.
