Hi, a simple improvement is to make GTRs with more lock degrees. I think that 24 degrees is very few. Why no 36 degree like a XRT? or more? If you are racer and don't want more dreeges, just don't use them. For racers has no difference, just put same of always, but for drifters, the posibility to put a XRR with a 40 degrees is a world...
Please! is only a very little change, only one number. All drifters (much of the players) will appreciate it!!
1, SEARCH. This is something that has been asked for again and again and again.
The reason for low lock on the GTR cars is simple. They have HUGE wheels and the cars run low. Both of which limit the lock you can use without body rub etc. Also more lock required more space inside the car to allow the turning of the wheels
Also they are race spec cars, not drift cars, and hence do not need huge lock. If you need big lock in a race car you are driving it wrong.
Out of interest the lock of all the cars was reduced to REALISTIC levels a long time ago. I doubt it will ever get raised and should not.
MODS: Can we merge this into one of the other 10000000 threads on this subject
I dont understand the people (a lot of people in this forum) like you. If you don't like a think, ok I understand, but if don't affects to you in any form, why are you opposed to change that, if this is changed is better for other people?
It is a simple number that you will never use, and never will affects negative to you... NEVER!
I repeat, if you dont want to use more degrees, so... dont use!!
It is a simple change, that does not harm anyone, and it benefits to others.
And if 10 million people have opened a thread with this subject, it confirms that there is a lot of people who are interested in more lock.
I tried "valuemod" it is only for 1 player, no online, and no replays = no drift competition with XRR.
did you miss the part where he said that it is completely unrealistic for a race car with racing tires to have a bigger lock? the wheels would rub. the fact that LFS is a simulator means that you can't just throw whatever numbers in there that you want just because you can't drift.
i don't know if anyone else has ever noticed this before (i assume someone must have seen it) but if you look up drifting on wikipedia, there is a picture of LFS haha.
But this IS a race simulator, so I guess it's just made for racing, and no improvements for drifting are made.
I mean, this still will have to be a racing simulator (with possibilities to drift ofcourse)
also Napalm, just to answer your question about why people don't like drifters. its because people like you don't understand anything at all about cars other than the fact that you want to slide them around a racetrack. i actually feel kind of bad for actual drifters because you give them a bad name.
As I have said. The STRUCTURE of most race cars DO NOT allow for more lock. The cars are built with race in mine not drift.
The GTR spec cars in LFS are NOT modified street cars like most drift cars you talk about. Yes the number could be changed BUT when body rub and the like is added to LFS it will have to be lowered again.
A RACE car is NOT a drift car. 1000bhp DOES NOT make a modified street car into a race car. It just makes it into a modified street car with 1000bhp.
This has been talked about again and again but it does not change the simple fact of life. Wide wheels = lower lock.
You should read a little about car construction before you spout on about its only a number. LFS aims to be a hardcore sim, not a game. So allowing values that are not realistic does not fit.
I think S3 should add a more powerful drift style car and we can put an end to all this crap and keep race cars as race cars.
Just stop complaining and use the road cars in LFS e.g FZ5, XRT and LX6. If you need more power to drift these cars properly, then i think you need some practice.
Luft, play nice mate. Insults won't help anyone's persecution complex.
Anyway. A car with paint on it and 1000bhp doesn't make it a race car, as has been pointed out. Race the car in that picture against an actual GTR race car and watch it get owned by the first corner. Also, a car that's called a "GTR" doesn't make it the same as an actual GTR race car like the ones in LFS, which are modelled on the cars used in RL GTR race series around the world.
Huge horsepower isn't the only thing that makes a race car, it's the way the power is managed and applied to the road. [Bloody obvious alert] A race car's suspension, transmission, tyres, chassis etc are all tuned to prevent the wheels from losing traction as much as possible so as to maintain corner speed and enable high exit speeds. The cars in LFS reflect this reality. It's obviously the other way around in a drift car, where the object is to keep the driving wheels spinning the entire way around a corner.
People here don't hate drifters. What people here generally tend to object to is people making demands without even checking if their idea has been suggested yet (which is a very easy thing to do). The patch with realistic steering lock was released maybe two years ago. The amount of time between the release of that patch and the first thread asking for more steering lock was only a matter of a couple of hours IIRC. So you're only a couple of years late asking for this.
Another thing that's objected to is people demanding drift toys when LFS is a specialised racing sim, not a generalised driving/ricer game, and then complaining when they're reminded of it, or acting like they're being persecuted, getting all offended and kicking off flamewars. One thing I've learned from this forum is if you don't want to get schooled, do a little research before asking for anything.
