LFS & graphical text issue [SOLVED]
sorry i've been bothering you all with my problems lately, but it seems like something has gone wrong again. I signed onto [FALKEN]Drift and was fine for a while, until the game lagged harder than I've ever seen it do, my car turned white, and every letter turned into a square. I suspect someone else other than me is responsible, but then again I always do .
I posted a picture of my main screen and I will definitely not be going on that server again. I can't play anymore AGAIN until I fix this problem somehow.

edit: when i tried to sign into a server again, LFS shut down and I got an error report.

Seens drivers problem or just kill your Vd card

Free joomla themes
i tried to start lfs again after the error report and i got the F-U ding from the comp and just a blank screen. I really think I got F-ed here because every other game i have works fine with no problems. Maye I should re-install lfs, but i dont think i have any more unlocks left.

edit: I re-installed LFS and it started ok with the opening loading screen, but halfway through the loading thing the same problem started. I dont think it would be a good idea to mess with my drivers cuz everything else works fine. Im really pissed that LFS has been so crappy lately.
System reboot to temporarily fix. Reinstall/update graphics drivers. It's been seen many times here. I had the problem on my old system. Solved it with a driver update.
i started a single player race. my car was see-thru. I started upside down on my roof...in the area behind the blackwood pits...all textures were gone, but i checked DDS and they were all there. I want my ****ing $$$ back

sorry for swearing. I restarted and it was better. Are you saying it won't stay like this? I can't really update the drivers again I have the newest ones.
I have seen this before... but mrodgers said to Reinstall / update the graphics drivers... so even if you have the newest ones... just reinstall them.

I believe this is how the problems were fixed for other people.

Just search the forums about it. You should be able to find a thread were they found a solution.

Every issue i've EVER had with LFS has been with my computer - this is a common DRIVER ISSUE.

Try removing the drivers completely and installing the latest ones.
Hey wait a mo... Did it happen when you had your last older versions of drivers? If it hasn't then it must either be your GFX card or the newer drivers.

Wrong. LFS is poorly written. That's why it is able to malfunction for every ~thousandth person.
I used to get the same thing. I don't remember anyone ever narrowing the problem down to drivers though. Seems to happen when you're doing a lot of alt-tabbing in and out of LFS, or just switching between programs, or have a lot of programs open. I completely clean my system of old drivers before I install new ones, I update my drivers every month, and this still happens to me very rarely. I think it's more to do with running out of graphics memory because you're doing something weird with LFS or other programs. Like when you're computer slows down after a time because you've been using it for too many different tasks. Sometimes you just gotta reboot.

In any case- it's no virus. And it shouldn't happen very often if you don't push your computer too hard.
my graphic card Radeon 9800PRO did the same thing before death.
it never did this before i updated. I reinstalled the newest drivers, and after that, CMX viewer started doing it so i rebooted to fix that. Before all this shit started, I had 4X AA and 16X AF and got 60+ fps. Now I get 15 fps with the same settings, so i have to turn them down to nil. Of course, Flight Simulator still works perfectly because it is well written.

I'll bow down to your Superior IT Intellect.
I'v been getting this latley after about 2 hours playing. Could it be caused by slighty overclocking your(my) graphics card?

Its been overclocked for a looong time now bearing that in mind.
Go back to your previous drivers and see what happens. If you were getting 60fps before, and now you're getting 15- I fail to see where LFS is to blame.
hah, i wont get into an argument with you about LFS vs. Flight Sim. I've seen what happens when people argue with you. Anyway, to electric kar, before I updated drivers, I got 15 fps with above settings. Afterwards, I could run 60 fps 4X/16X. then this "crash" (for lack of a better word) happened, which brought me back down. Anyway I'm done dealing with this and I may just get a better GFX card. I have 3 gigs of ram, i should get a good card to keep up.
that happens to me about twice a week...but all i do is go into another game for about 5 min then its fixed..

I even redownloaded it 3 or 4 times...but still happened...
yeah i just reinstalled the drivers for the third time in two days
wonderful

Well, in your opinion, what would that accomplish if, as you claimed, it is LFS's fault for being such a "crappy" program?

I'm confused, you state LFS was fine, then it all went weird on you. Then you state you have the latest drivers. Finally, you state that you had 15 FPS before (which is definitely not "fine" as you describe first), updated the drivers (so I now assume you did not have updated drivers when LFS was "fine") and it went weird again.

Did you or did you not update the drivers? Meaning did you have old drivers that LFS ran "fine" on, then errored after updating? Or did you just reinstall the same driver?

When you update your drivers, it's a good idea to rid your system of everything related to the old drivers first. There is a utility to do this for nVidia and ATI graphics cards. You do it from "Safe Mode" so that the graphics drivers are not loaded. Clean old drivers off, then reinstall the new ones.

ok i'll try that, thanks for the tip

* Corrupted dll/vxd files (video card driver files)?
* Corrupted LFS.exe file / missing file/files in LFS directory?
* HD bad sector/heavily fragmented disk?
* Malware?

I think one or more of those things messed up somehow.
this happened to me when I had LFS on an external hard drive that had unplugged itself. I had to restart and plug the drive back in.
mine happens a lot and mine is on my harddrive...Its the video card
Can we change the thread title or stop bumping this. You can't get a virus through LFS.

If driver cleaner + driver reinstall doesn't work then GPU is dying.
