Hey people

after 3 years of playing Live for speed my external harddrive crashed with all my music games and pictures i just wanted to congratulate THe Devs and all the people who made this game 100% everyday this game never got boring and of all the people ive raced with thanks. For making my time with LFS enjoyable im really down right now because ive lost over 9,000 songs and over 17,000 car pictures not too mention lfs so if you guys can do anything to cheer me up add me [email protected]

So your weekly backup device failed too? Bummer.

LFS can of course be redownloaded, the music can be re-ripped over a few weeks. So no problems there. If the car photos are from the net, you can get them again, if they were your own, I'd imagine you must have got a few printed?

Still got your game password? Download LFS again and you're up and running again

Did it wipe your S2 forum account from the internet too?

U have been playing LFS for 3 years or w/e.... did u ever buy an S2 license? or are u just a demoer? Cause if ur hardrive crashed, you would still be S2 licensed on the forums... and you could re download LFS and unlock it again with ur pass and username....

music is going to take agggeeesss to get back same with the pictures all that time spent gone. and i was a demo racer everything was on A external hard drive and its long gone ive take it in to a computer shop they siad theres nothing they can do all my graphic work is on there everything and its my birthday in 3 days iw as getting a ipod. but ic ant now since i have no music im so sad right now everything is gone..

It happens to the best of us mate. With my old PC it happened every 3 months

EVERYTHING was gone! But I didnt just give up I held my head high and carried on!

Edit: Back then, I had 600 tracks and I was royaly pissed off. Now I have 50GB of Music...imagen how pissed off I would be if I lost it now....*BSoD* *Hard drive fails*

i wish i could but ive had a really bad day because the cooling system on my laptop isnt working so thats in the shop too.. and what do i do now i know i can redownload lfs but i have no computer to play it on for 8 weeks . and ill have to remake all my setups and everything

Its happened to me a few times, but i have never got upset, just maybe abit angry.

Just cheer up fella and plough on!

Do a google for a program called GetDataBack NTFS, it got all my data back when no one could access my second hard drive when it died. Windows refused to recognise it and even so called "experts" said it was a lost cause.

It scanned the drive, found 99.9% of the data and I was just able to copy it to my master drive. Might be worth a shot for you buddy.

Dude I had to re format my Hard Drive about 6 weeks ago and guess what I had to do? RE DOWN LOAD LFS, I backed up as much as I could, transferring from one hard drive to the other. Yeah so what if I lost all my pictures and music, I just took the time to get all the music back and now I save it to my second Hard Drive, along with pictures and some programs that are out of date and you can hardly find anymore, so there for if my PUTER decides to take a SHAT on me next week I'm good, Life goes on

precious data needs to be backed up.. people learn that the hard way, I am of course no exception..

I now make a yearly backup on DVD's and a few times a year i copy the stuff to my second HD (i.e. its on HD1 all the time and HD2 is never more than a few months older)..

If the drive is physically still running, you might be surprised what 'restore' software can bring back. Bad partitions / accidental formats might be no problem. If its physically crashed you may not have as much luck. People do sometimes find an identical drive and replace the electronics, which might work, unless the heads are welded to the discs that is..

You can get the data back most times it just depends on how much money you've got and are willing to spend

One way is find a second hand drive that is identical that still works, swap all the electronic boards accross and you may get a resurected drive.

I've had another occassion were a system no longer recognised a hard drive because of bad sectors. Believe it or not, I was able to retrieve the data still by putting the hard drive in the freezer for 30min before trying to boot it again

So don't believe your average tech if they say nothing can be done. Things can be done but it can also cost alot.

Don't give too much hope getting the data... Even if the data is still there, it might be still corrupted and un-readable. At least that was case with my hd crash few years back. I guess I didn't learn much because I haven't really taken any backups since then

Call the cops and tell them you think it had a few gigs of kiddie porn on it - they'll recover the data for you.

Now ur at home with no computer or hardrive... U do that and your computer and hardrive will be at home and you will be the one busted :P

Guys after a long time at the computer shop my external hard drive lives it turned on and they are getting the data off it now im soo happy !!! im getting everything back and i have use for a ipod now!!
