Sequential Gear Change
Please forgive my ignorance here, but I thought if I turned off Auto Clutch in the Sequential gear change cars, MRT FBMW FXR & GTT, that I would need to use the clutch to change down the gears?
Is this the way it should be?

I don't think so, those don't use clutch in gear changes even with auto clutch on, only with FBM and MRT there is no ECU that would cut/blip engine when shifting so you need to make those manually, but auto clutch does not affect to that, only situation it affects is when you spin and when you start.

Would it be a correct assumption, IRL, that you should clutch on the downshifts, rather than just pushing the shifter without clutching....?

With FBM and MRT, perhaps, but it still would be possible to shift without clutch, as far as I know. It would just upset car a bit more as gear would change suddenly.

Fair enough, i've had motorbikes, so know a tad about sequential gear changes, but have never changed down with out using the clutch, but I can understand what you're saying!!

Nevermind, not the end of the world.....
Thanks

Andrew
Can easily change down without a clutch on my bike, infact, on the track I rarely use the clutch at all.

Mind you, my bike does have a slipper clutch, I wonder if the FBM would have such a thing?, I don't think the MRT does though.

OOOHHHH, my trx 850 and zx7r didnt have such luxuries, so i would never have dreamt of doing that.!!!
Pretty sure all V60 (Rotax 1000cc V-twin) Aprilias have them, they are not foolproof though, I can remember backing my bike into the esses at Snetterton quite a few times when the slipper clutch didn't want to do it's thing

Sideeeeeways on opposite lock?

It's got a Hewland FTR gearbox (so nothing bike sourced) with an integral clutch. The clutch could is likely to be a conventional racing clutch.

Mrt you need a clutch, I belive

Doesn't matter, could still have one.
I'm just guessing, but the MRT is supposed to be based on the McGill(?) students entry into formula ford or something right? Now if I'm not mistaken part of the requirements of the car is for it to cost X amount of dollars per 1000 cars if it was to actually be put in production. if that was to be the case, wouldn't a slipper clutch shoot the cost up? If that's all true, then I don't think the MRT should have a slipper clutch. Well unless they actually had one on the real car.
