Just to get back on topic briefly how many americans have caught up with the claims of (yet more) vote rigging in New Hampshire.
Yes, diebold strike again.

http://www.ronpaulwarroom.com/?p=681

And before I get flamed please at least check some facts.

The Diebold machines are considered responsible for rigging in the last 2 presidential elections, they leave NO audit trail and are easily hacked. ( Just google it )

Just remember that ' It doesn't matter how people vote, what matters is who counts the votes "
Quote from Shotglass :As long as politicians don´t figure out that effective lying means to lie inconsitently instead of all the time we´re good.

The "good" result is only valid if the realization would actually have any effect. As it stands, I doubt it does.
You know I been re reading all these posts and got to thinking....
First off, look at all the flags from people that posted... notice that most of the American posts were related to the gun issue. Think about this. I posted before somewhere that We as Americans don't really pay attention to the President. In fact, the Executive branch is mostly in charge of the foreign policy and dealing with regional. We get real upset with presidents that get too involved in domestic issues. And since by default, we are the world's policeman, the new centurions if you will, Why don't You vote for them instead? I mean he wouldn't have to be in charge of anything, just l have the sort of face you'd want to see on a dollar bill. Our little agencies like the the Military and the CIA and the FBI would be under the control of who SHOULD be in control. That's right, Accountants.

Also, think about this, even though you don't have the right to vote over here (yet :shrug, Things like these posts and stuff really do have an effect on the elective process over here. More so than what this effect has on other countries by far. I mean I notice we don't ever hear of much about Sarkozy on this forum either positive or negative, Same with Putin. When that luchesco or whatever dude got Radiation poisoned in England, did anyone even post a thing about it? China has intentions of influencing world policy for it's benefit. China. And you people are more concerned with overweight gun owners driving SUVs? And the EU... What does that actually do for y'all? It's like it's never discussed. Like it doesn't really exist. You'd figure with all the Europeans that play LFS and all the Europeans that post on political topics here in off-topic, SOMEBODY would have something to say about it.
I sincerely have big troubles in understanding the points you'd like to make so I'll avoid chopping up the understandable bits to answer. Forgive me, but the language barrier doesn't help.

Edit: I just hope this thread doesn't transform in a reportage on the influence of Botswana in this forum. I see the danger.
Hey Racer

I suppose a short answer to why the US gets so much discussion is something like: the US imposes itself on the rest of the world like no other country in history through its foreign policy, military interventions, economics and its enormous mass-media including films, TV shows & channels, huge music industry, the www and so on. What America does has an effect all over the world, for better or worse, so naturally it comes up in peoples' conversation a lot. While it's true that China certainly has the potential to greatly influence world affairs with its large population, strong military, booming economy and ever-growing financial strength, at the moment it still keeps largely to itself so doesn't often crop up in everyday conversation. America doesn't keep to itself much at all (especially since October 2001 - before that Bush was actually being labelled an "isolationist" with regard to foreign policy), so it naturally gains the lion's share of attention.

Right now, what Sarkozy, Putin and even Hu Jintao do in their own lands doesn't have as much potential to affect the rest of the world as much as the actions of a US president, especially when the US is fighting wars with two countries and continually ramping up the rhetoric about a third. US elections always gain a lot of attention because of the power a US president has. They're also bloody hard to ignore - US election campaigns are huge, loud, full on fanfare and emotion and shouting and seem to go for years!

As for the world's concern over obese American gun-nuts driving 2 mile-per-gallon monster trucks to work (forgive the hyperbole there ), a lot of people see that kind of thing as a worrying indicator of American culture or maybe a microcosm of the entire nation - America in a nutshell if you like: heavily armed, overly consumptive, arrogant. Of course, that's an overly simplistic stereotype and it's completely unfair to judge a nation by a small proportion of its citizens, but right or wrong that's how lots of people see the US.
Precisely. That's why we don't talk about Botswana.

Edit: well, maybe a bit, lately
Yes, Botswana's come up a couple of times recently ...

By the way, can a mod please correct the spelling in the title of this thread? It's driving me barmy!

+1 It's getting to the point where I can't read "candidate" without also thinking "candadint" :scared:
I'm just wondering how someone from the largest English-speaking country in the world got that one word so completely wrong
Quote from Racer Y :When that luchesco or whatever dude got Radiation poisoned in England, did anyone even post a thing about it?

Litvinenko. I can't remember if he's been posted about. Maybe if he'd been shot seven times in the head by our rozzers in broad daylight like Jean Charles de Menezes, or if he'd decided to take a walk in the woods and turned up with his wrists slashed like Dr David Kelly we might be keener to put the boot in.

Russian and Chinese influence don't get talked about so much because they're not busy blowing up bits of the world right now, or roping the rest of us into it. And, of course: Bush. There's no escaping it, he's a real novelty.
I'd hardly call a trigger-happy US president a novelty

He's probably the first Connecticut Yankee trust-fund baby to pretend he's some shitkicker from Texas though ...

Hell no. That would just spoil it all. I've subscribed to this thread just so I get to see it in my User CP and chuckle or snicker - I occasionally snort too. That's got to be worth keeping around.
Gosh darn you to heck.
Quote from Hankstar :Gosh darn you to heck.

Well shucks mister, ain't no reason gettin' all worked up to darnation about it.

Shoot, y'know what? Here, 'ave this here skin, gosh darn it if it ain't 'propriate.
I gladly welcome the start of the deBotwanaisation of the LFS World

I imagine an occasional visitor stumbling on this forum and saying, "hey, so many people from Botswana, what's this all about?", and he starts reading until he figures out the nonsense

(Just consider this post of mine a keepalive , candadints must survive. Hand me my ticket to Hell, please :nod
Hands ticket!

Cheese n' rice, that's purdy
You know who would make a good president? Abraham Lincoln.
Quote from wheel4hummer :You know who would make a good president? Abraham Lincoln.

It'd be awesome to see a "clone" of Abe. Also, it reminded me to think to myself- why do all the good presidents get asassinated/almost asassinated? (Except Bush, he sucks. For those that don't know, someone threw a grenade at him but it was a dud.)
The following video shows exactly how the Diebold machines can easily be hacked and voting totals can be altered.

Also remember that your votes are controlled by private companies who are answerable to no-one ( bit like your Fed Reserve really )

So who does the New World Order want to control Amerika next ?

John Silvestro and his small private business, LHS Associates, has the exclusive programming contracts for all New Hampshire voting machines, which combined will count about 81 percent of the vote tomorrow.

Silvestro IS the New Hampshire chain of custody

Or at least a very large component in it.

Last fall, with the help of some New Hampshire citizens, Black Box Voting began working on a "New Hampshire Chain of Custody" project, in which we identified some of the areas of concern that might affect many jurisdictions at once. First on the list is LHS Associates, a vendor with inside access to every memory card in New Hampshire, as well as to the chips containing the "brain" of the Diebold optical scan machines.

LHS Associates programs all the memory cards in New Hampshire and Connecticut; about all of Vermont's voting machines, and has a lock on almost all of Massachusetts as well.

RARE VIDEO FOOTAGE

In an unusual confluence of available video, we obtained footage of Silvestro grappling with Harri Hursti, the master hacker who had his way with the Diebold optical scans in Leon County, Florida in the famous exploit that was showcased in the film Hacking Democracy.

The exact same make, model and version hacked in the Black Box Voting project in Leon County is used throughout New Hampshire, where about 45 percent of elections administrators hand count paper ballots at the polling place, with the remaining locations all using the Diebold version 1.94w optical scan machine. Because the voting machine locations tend to be urban, this represents about 81 percent of the New Hampshire voters.

The video shows Harri Hursti testifying on Sept. 19 before the New Hampshire legislature, attempting to explain significant vulnerabilities requiring urgent mitigations; throughout his testimony, Silvestro inserted his own comments, opinions, misstatements and speculations.
