Well because it could be better with a different engine. Not really a hard concept to understand, people have done engine swaps in cars before.

You wouldn't have to chop up the bodywork at all, you have to remember here I actually know what I'm talking about so making passing comments like that isn't really going to lead anywhere. That said I know people who have chopped them up (and other other Fiesta's) and fitted Cossie engines and running gear etc. Again this isn't unheard of in the car modifying/building world.

I seem to remember a few posts back you saying you were more passionate about cars due to your likes/dislikes. I think we've shown in this thread you don't really know a lot about them, which is fine, but doesn't really give you a leg to stand on when it comes to valued opinions.

edit: Yes the 16v Zetec is bigger than the engines available in the MK1, but to be pedantic the 2.0 and 1.6 are exactly the same physically outside.
They damn well fit with fiddling about with the engine bay and stuff.

http://www.2muchtorque.co.uk/70.html - Can you really say you wouldn't even want to have a go in that BlueFlame?

So basically you are saying the biggest bore engine, the 1.6 isn't good enough. So you would need an up to date engine to make the Mk1 Fiesta worth having? Well the Mk1 Golf, wouldn't need an engine change, yea, sure people have done it people have gone mental and had 2 engines in both running the front and rear wheels, but the 1.6 VW motor is tuneable as German engines are, much like the Japanese, whether the chassis can take it, is another matter.

Edit : I could quite easily say no, I'd rather drive my colleagues TDi Golf very very quick off the mark and around corners so im told now he has had his LSD fitted on the front.

Just honestly, no I would rather drive a standard Audi Quattro, or Audi 100...
No I didn't say that at all. I'm getting pretty sick of people (not just you) not being able to read. If you notice, I used the word "better". Which it would be.

Sure you could tune the standard 1.6 up nicely, people have done. Not sure why you even mentioned that though as I was talking about getting a low model variant and doing it up.

I have no doubt the German engines are tunable, however I have no experience with them at all, so I can't really comment.

Damn right they have.

Got a Performance Ford mag here infront of me with the cars which attended their Daddy Thrash.

One S1 Escort RS Turbo is pushing out 360bhp from it's 1.6 8v CVH, and it got recorded doing a top speed of 173.4mph. That's effin' quick for a little 1.6.

Ford's have so much tuning potential, yet a lot of people don't realise it.
Ford has made some great engines in the past. People talk about "japanese" engines and their potential yet fail to remember that engines like the Toyota 4A-GE are based (uhh basically a roadgoing copy) on the Cosworth BDA.
Was the cosworth engine built by ford though? Built as in, developed and manufactured
It's only £1040 a year on my own policy. Oh and btw, I know.

Who are you insured with? The best I can get is £3600 in my Skoda. Somethings obviously screwed up. What is a a 2litre 6cylinder BMW? and a 1.9 Nonturbo Diesel Skoda? Difference of about 140hp
Quote from pearcy_2k7 :Thought id post an update on the white beast, is nownot sure whether it is red or white, kinda like micheal jackson, 520bhp, and more lightweight and it spits flames like a good'un

It's only the 1.6 4 cylinder. With 110bhp and capable of 130mph. Still, more than fast enough for a first car... My insurance is so cheap because I live in one of the safest places in Britain.

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :If your going to take pictures atleast clean it first ffs...

Normally I do, but I just whipped out my phone and took a couple snaps. I liked the way they came out, so posted them in a bid to stop the whole "I love Ford - I hate Ford" shit.

Be lucky - I live in a "black hole". No crime, but all the quotes are £500 more than all my mates are getting in the same cars with the same setting.

Doesn't help when people drive hell for leather in their first cars and crash, with major concequences leaving us honest new drivers with more money on our insureance claims, than we will ever have in hot food.

I have read about expensive insurances what are judged by the engine size... But my god those prizes are horrible. Finland is normally judged as a expensive place, for a car owner too, but I pay "only" 500+ euros per year for my car. It has a 2 litre engine, although it does not matter because our insurances are not judged by size of the engine... And Sierra is considered as a expensive car to insurance in Finland.
Pretty crazy best quote i got for a fiesta ST was 6k, but i can insure an elise for 4k and a seat leon cupra R LOL! seems like they have no clue and are going off engine size...
Crazy expensive in the UK. I only pay €35,- a month for my MR2, that's not even the cheapest insurance. Windshield(s) is insured, passengers, theft and all damage to other parties of course.

UK insurance policy made me fall off my chair when I first read it from here, but things get more even if you compare the taxes.

A briton can walk to a car dealer and buy a brand new BMW 523i for 33 000 euro (22 000 excl tax) euro, when his fellow finn pays 55 000 euro (31 000 excl tax) for the same car.

It costs €50069 here, for the saloon version. Rediculous, isn't it? You can get an M5 for that price in the US and A.
