VR6 Sound with K&N Filter
Hey Guys...

I`ve just got one question: is it possible to get a carsound in LFS like the VW VR6 with K&N Filter? Maybe you know this unbelieveable sound, just like ....wuuup....or .....beeeaast....hm...the nearest sound i got with lfs tweak was with a V 11 combination with 2,8 litres...maybe one of you knows the perfect version for this sound....thans for your replies...and maybe fonnybone could say sth. to this thread, too....

keep on racing

I know this great VW sound! And with a racing exhaust this sound comes much better.

To make it with the tweak isn't easy. But I try to do it...

What we need is a configurable, that changes the volume of the intake sound, and like in old days, exhaust sound. I think it would be best, if they could be done separatly.

Though, don't get your hopes up, don't think that is going to happen, ever.

This one has a turbo, but oh well, you get the idea. I knew the guy that is leaning in the driver's side window btw, he said the car was crazy. You could be driving down the highway at 75 in 5th gear and floor it and the front tires would light up.

Neither do I! Crazy people from Denmark and Germany do though!

we'll just stick to our V8's then..

i had a hard time figuring out if that was a v6 at all.. :P

Then we'll stick to our turbocharged inline 4's

Without a turbo, just with a kn filter, the VR6 sounds pretty good i think, and i do like the sound of a massive muscle car, that just shakes your internals loose, when it fires up. But, i can't help it, i'm an inline guy
Twin turbo Corrado VR6 .Hmm.İ hear this sound every day :P
Hmm, says at the end of the video it was twin 3" exhaust? Oh well. That VR6 GTI made 640 hp with a single turbo and nearly half the displacement, in a car that weighs nearly 1000 lbs less. Hey, I love american V8's as much as the next guy, but sometimes there are better ways to move a car down the road.

The vette would handle much better than the VR6, there's no denying that!
There are great sounding V8's, but stock exhaust Corvettes are nothing to write home about, at least not LSx-powered ones. They pretty much sound like any other V8.

VR6's on the other hand have a very unique sound that sets them apart from other 6-cyls. They produce a distinct deep resonance around like 4000rpm that you just don't get from regular V6's or I6's.

You can hear it in these videos right after the driver shifts:

I assume a lot of this sound is down to the unequal length intake and exhaust runners of the VR6 head. There are 3 cyls with short intake and long exhaust runners and 3 cyls with long intake and short exhaust runners. So basically you have a 15° V6 with two different sounding cylinder banks, and I guess that would be difficult to replicate in LFS.

Every cylinder in LFS produces it's sound all by itself. So using different sounds for different cylinders really shouldn't be a problem.
