Quote from pb32000 :Obviously not enough to loathe a company based on opinion alone lol.

Each to their own.
Blueflame... Your argument is very weak. Mechanically and visually EU and US Fords are completely different.

There's 'Ford America' then there's 'Ford Europe' (look! 2 different names!) :o

They are built to different road rules, different specs.

Also, if we went along with your argument then Opel are British, are they?

Look at the amount of people disagreeing with you... Doesn't that tell you something... That YOU might be wrong?

Plus the Wiki says "Ford Motor Company that is based in America." If Ford Europe was based in America then it would say "Ford Europe that is based in America." Yes, Ford is American... But the ONLY American thing about Ford Europe is the 4 letters that spell 'Ford' That's it... Just 4 letters in a blue oval... EVERYTHING from design to build is European within Ford Europe... Otherwise it wouldn't be called Ford Europe.

Yea, Ford's are American, I was waiting for someone to say it. Even if it is just the badge as you say but I don't know WHAT you are talking about when you are saying my argument is the same as saying Opels are british... Opel were created as a German company before World War 2.... There is no connection with Britain. Vauxhall on the other hand, have a connection with Opel. As Vauxhall feed off Opel and Holden for new cars to add to the UK Market. Ford were introduced to Europe, it doesn't make that part of Ford not American, it just means that they are making the most out of the car industry, knowing that their American cars wouldn't sell at all in Europe. They are still American, they haven't been bought out by Europeans...... Their high command is Ford USA. Opels high command would be GM. Except Opel are a different company to GM as GM bought them. Ford Europe has not been bought, it's an independant part of the Ford Motor Company, making it American, but distanced from the American market.
Quote from BlueFlame :but distanced from the American market.

Which is why you can't compare it to a US Ford.

...what about the Ford Ka?
Quote from Jakg :...what about the Ford Ka?

Nice little buggers, slow as hell though and not very roomy (although I fit in the back seat and I'm not really short). They are a fun drive though and have a lot of "expanding" potential
I never really carry anything around, and my budget is about a grand... Going to see a Ka later today.
lol its a girl car xD
It's better then no car, scrabby..
Quote from Scrabby :lol its a girl car xD

Yea.. Understatement.

Actually, I would really rather walk. I'm serious. DEAD Serious. I have sat in the back of a Ford KA once, and jesus. I wish I hadn't.
The KA isn't as bad as some people make out, its great around the town and is nippy as hell in the right hands. The only thing I disliked was the poor leg space in the back, which is why my mum spent most of the time in the back as she is shorter
Friend of mine had a Ka as a courtesy car once, it really didn't seem that bad.

Seemed more solidly built than a 106, and the 1.3 has a little bit of nippyness to it (I said nippy, not fast).
Tax and insurance should be cheap for a new driver, economy should be decent as well.
I don't like the Ford KA and I would also walk then have on of them. A lot of people would proberly say a KA is for girls.

Yup cheap to run, £115 for 1 year tax (soon to be £120), and around £30-£35 a month for insurance... not bad at all
If I was going to go for a car that size I'd be looking at a Puma over a Ka. A friend of mine had one (no idea if he still has it, been a while since we saw him) and he drove it damn fast

I'm starting to look for my first car now, but I've not had much luck finding a Seat Leon in my price range. I really like the mk1 Focus, but I never hear good things about Fords so I'm a little put off.

It's a girls car if it is pink and has 'Powered by Fairy Dust' stickers.

A car is a car, and when you are choosing your first one you are pretty much limited to small hatchbacks due to the costs of the car itself and the insurance.

I know, I just dont like the KA's the back of them is to high and wrong in my eyes and I don't like the front of them either.

And you can see neither when you are driving it.

I just don't like the cars in general, just my opinion.
Well OK, the KA isn't that bad but I really don't see a man drive in it. Why don't you buy an old Civic or some Swift etc...?

I've got a Ka (pretty much the only small car I fit in easily, given the 'domed' roof), and have had for nearly 3 years, I think - it's a decent little car, nothing spectacular, though. The 1.3 makes it far from sluggish, and it's generally quite nice in the lower end. The amount of body roll, and the feeling of being quite a way off the ground both make for quite a fun ride

As for the tax, I just got back from the Post Office (literally, 10 minutes ago), and the tax this year is £145.00 (for 12 months) - absolute rip-off. Insurance... IIRC, I'm paying around £600/year, fully comp. Obviously, just waiting to hit 25 and it'll be a significant drop in price, then - blasted boy racers...
