Quote from pearcy_2k7 :LOL! Sorry, well basically my internet has been working fine but recently started to loose connection so downloaded AVG to see if it was a virus problem, did a scan and removed 38 things from my computer, there was a couple of things i noticed like McAfee not working any more etc before the scan, its came back.

So, you're running both AVG and McAfee? Get rid of one of them, and only have 1 antivirus installed. Anything more just invites to all sorts of problems.
Well, McAfee i don't use, but never had a problem with it, ut it just came with the computer and the firewall still works, starting to have problems again now and its running desperately slow, can't afford for it to do this as my dad uses the computer for work.
uhm, how many firewalls u have atm on ur pc turned on?? I hope you didnt have Windows firewall and Mcafee's one on??
Pearcy: just remove McAfee and let AVG still run on your PC. Problem Solved

What's mission critical systems? Never heard of it tbh
Well removed AVG and computer seems to be working pretty good now...
duh, two AV's on one computer just doesn't work out, now install AVG (free) back again or buy it and remove McAfee and listen for once who works in a pc-store and SEES THOSE THINGS EVERY DAY - ME! (and Jakg and some other)

Yeah, get rid of McAfee. If it came with the computer, it's probably just a trialware and will eventually stop updating itself, if it hasn't already.
Well ive had my computer about 4-5 years now and its worked fine all that time on just McAfee, i removed all viruses AVG found so i don't need it anymore and im reluctant to re-install it incase i have problems again. Ill leave it for now.
no, u'll have problems if you leave McAfee on it
Just trying to help you....
Yes and i appreciate that but its worked fine for 4-5 years so i don't really feel the need to go about changing things that could make it perform worse, especially if my dad is relying on it for work.

Thanks anyway.

some PC's come with bloatwar- i mean Norton pre-installed but most don't.
All the PCs over here in the US mostly come with Norton, but theres a few that comes with another but I can't think of it atm.
Sorted It now, thanks guys i used HJT
Quote from Jakg :The only reason Norton sells is because PC World sells it.

Trust me I work there

Why the **** do you want to work in PC World, as long as your not one of those who try and sell a computer to someone and tell them its amazing when in fact it's crap lol.

what section? Are the repair guy's regulated or watched in some way? just curious...

ATM i'm a "Customer Advisor", which means I'm meant to roam the floor being a salesman, but atm i'm still being trained and doing till work.

I want to work in the "Tech Bay", but according to my manager I'll have to wait for one of them to die first as theres only going to be 2 people working there and they've been there for over 10 years each...

What sort of regulation / restriction do you mean? i think all internet traffic is logged...

...i mean general privacy of the customer when PC's come in for repair, to work in the tech-bay would be to have access to all the pron and vvarez brought to you. I imagine there must be guidlines and regs for the technicians not to go here and not to go there, but they probably do anyway. Perverts
IIRC...If a techie is working on a puter and they find standard pr0n or vv@rez, they tend to ignore it..however, speaking from a personal perspective, if I found disgusting stuff like kiddiepr0n or plans to blow up London, then I would accidently forget who bought the computer in, and take it to the local cop-shop instead
Dunno what guidelines PCWierd have, but would imagine it to be similar.
