Something about Chernobyl

I did a school report on the town on Pripyat (the town isn't called Chernobyl) and its crazy. Schools are left just the way they were with lessons open on the desks and everything. I saw a history channel documentary on how they are studying the rate of decay of Pripyat to determine how long our mark on the planet will last. Not very long surprisingly...

Very creepy pictures
Quote from Jakg :
I can't find the video now but theres also one taken inside the reactor after it exploded including the massive "elephants foot" which is basically a huge solid lump of ex-molten radioactive crap.

you mean this one ?
I found this essay on Chernobyl by Paul Fusco to be very good:

EDIT:
Forgot to mention - it can get pretty graphic at times. The actual results of radiation are much more disturbing than anything game designers can come up with.
Oh god... those poor children.. you really don't realise the effects that it has on the people untill you see something like that.. i really think its one of those places that people should go to sometime during their life, just to put things into perspective.
Quote from ACCAkut :Just found it again in my Bookmarks, this is a very special site from a woman who makes regulary trips on her Ninja through the Chernobyl area, and she made unusual pictures. The sites commentary is in german, but the pics speak for themselves.

I've been on the site many times before, it's a weird place that I kinda have a desire to go to with my brother. It's just.... I don't know..Shrug It's the story of how it happened that sends chills down my spine, the fact firefighters tried their hardest only to be shunned by the blaze and to be killed. To go there to try to stop it, to never come back.
