I've always wondered and i'm guessing most of you, what happens when we die?

My theory is we get put in a continuous never-ending dream, but if i'm right in thinking that, who's to say we aren't dreaming now.

I believe it just stops. Nothing. Less than nothing. There is nothing left with which to sense nothing. It's unimaginable. A bit like, perhaps, what it was like before you were born (but without being able to visualise history; in fact without being).

I agree Tristan. Death is unimaginable because we lose the ability to sense anything, you can't imagine what it's like sensing nothing.

I say it's like we never existed.

But what do we think, what did we think before we we're born because I only remember my life from a certain age and certain things i did as a young child, i'm actually interested in what will happen when I die.

Exactly - we have no memories before we came into being. So why should we when we go out of being? That doesn't make sense. And if reincarnation occured, what would be the point without being able to remember previous existences? And the odd people that say they can, occasionally, recall memories of a previous existance, could that not just be an overactive imagination?

And, technically, it's one of the mysteries of death!

Anyone watch Derren Brown last night? The 5 mysteries and getting 'experts' to say he was legit at all of them? Shows how easily tricked the human mind can be.

I'm not good at typing what i'm thinking, but this may sound strange but i'm actually looking forward to dying, obviously when i'm older.

But what if you're wrong? Gonna be a bit let down! Well, it won't, because if you are wrong and death is just nothing, then you won't be able to feel let down, but it would be an ironic ending!

I don't want to go through the old man phase, i'd rather die, but it makes me think I want to live my life to the fulliest and take every chance I get to do things and enjoy life.

I'll agree.
Death is absolute, there is nothing with it, death is emtyness, death is total.

What about living the afterlife as a sprit/phantom/ghost?

Well no one knows how it is after you die. If you ask me, I say you wouldn't feel a thing. You seize to exist so you can't feel anything , but If you want to know how it is to die, well that's another story. It seems that it is very pleasant. You seem to be pulled into some kind of multicolored tunnel while sometimes having your life literally flashing before your eyes and no, Lerts didn't told me this, I once watched a documentary on N.D.E. (Near Death Experiences) so don't flame me about "Have you spent 10 minutes in a closet with Lerts?"

You'll feel differently when you're a lot nearer to it (unless you have a terminal disease or if you really have lost all hope at that stage of your life)

That's not a bad attitude to have tbh. If you can maintain it without stepping into wanton recklessness then you'll be almost assured of a fantastic, thrilling time. But sometimes it's the unexpected things that happen to us and how we deal with them that are the most challenging and perhaps rewarding aspects of this weird thing we call life. And if you think about it, if your life does turn out to be a thrill a minute, why would you want it to end when you're still young. Yeah perhaps we all cringe when we see OAPs lying in a hospital bed with a load of tubes and machines sticking out of every orifice. But that doesn't mean your gonna end up like that. There's still guys shagging women and running marathons in their 90's. So if they can do it why not you ?

As to the original question of what happens after death. I've meet and talked to 2 people who were clinically dead and came back to life, and i know one person very well who claims to have died and come back to life. But, i'm getting distracted by the golf here (it's good stuff) so will tell you what they told me a bit later.

Unfortunately, I agree with Tristan, nothing happens, once your body stops making enough electrical impulses to fire off nuero signals, thats it, game over.

As for the "old man" phase, your outlook of things changes, alot, without realising it, as you get older, you do become different, I sometimes worry myself now and think, damn, I just sounded like my parents.

As for heaven and hell, pure figments of peoples imaginations, invented by people who wanted to have a control of vast numbers of people, it's genius, if it wasn't so contrived, "be good (i.e. do what I say), or you'll go to hell".

In my opinion, you'll feel like when you're asleeping, the first minutes.... no feelings.

It's exactly the same when you're dreaming.
You don't remember your awaken life and thus are unable to realize that you are actually dreaming (well most of the time).

The fact that you don't remember something doesn't mean it never happened. You think that there was nothing before you were born! maybe you just forgot it!

I think the same as Tristan, im not a religious person, mainly because if i had an imaginery friend called Bob that i said created the world in 7 days and worshiped him every sunday id be sent to a mental hospital but if i call him Allah then all is good...
