Never understood the "tryout" concept.. Surely all you will see in a short amount of time is someone's speed.. it can take weeks or months to discover if you can really trust whom you are racing alongside.

Go for the long wat Nitwon, it will give you a better appreciation of what a team is about.

Huge number of laps/miles doesn't make you experienced imo.

Good lap times and phew laps/miles does.

Fast lap times doesn't make you fast really, well, it does but just for hotlaps. You need to know how to race sprint/endurance races also fast.

Well I'd say fast laps do mean you're fast. What else could it mean?

What I would agree on is that fast laps do not necessarily imply a good driver since you have to take into account nerves, racecraft, etc.

like i said already, i don't get nervous and i'm good at racing clean/not crashing

Fast laps mean you are capable of going fast over a lap.
