Hey Guys

Time for a change of non-lfs in the forum. I also take FS9 (FS2004) very seriously and has helped me all the way through my training to become a real pilot. In the meantime, here is some edits.

I moved your thread to off-topic
Thanks Sam

In terms of FSX and addons its rubbish. I can rull it on full capacity graphics etc and still get 40-50 fps.

I prefer FS9 due to the high volume of addons and the still yet demanding popularity over FSX.

Incorrect - I have my own cockpit. Its perfectly common for people to build their own cockpit - either as a retired pilot / or someone that just can't afford the £60,000 to become commercial. Some pilots even have their own home cockpit to train.

Its not taking it too far.

mutt107: Yes it did get deleted for spam.

That's correct.

Nah, lot's of people build their own flight sim cockpits. My uncle has been interested in airplanes his whole life, and if it hadn't been for a car accident in his youth, where he lost an eye, he probably would have been a real pilot now.

Btw, took a couple movies of it too. Bad quality since it was with my cell phone, but anyway...

Looks like he's running it on the Precision Manuals 737 software also.

Apart from low down ground textures, FS9 with it huge amount of scenery/plane add-ons pisses all over FSX.

Nice pics OP! A nice cockpit view of something on final to Portland would be nice (Portland is probably the best bit of scenery ever made for FS9. I never tire of pottering about in my DO-27 around that area)

oh sorry then
Im getting FS9 this weekend any sugestted controllers for it joystick ore wil my trustmaster(gamepad) or keybourd do?
Any joystick that has twist-rudder and a throttle will do.

A gamepad should be ok, and although you technically *can* do it, you'll struggle with just the keyboard.

While we're on the subject of FS9, http://www.freewebs.com/lpma/

(blatant plug for my scenery I'm making.... )

How's building a fullscale racing cockpit normal, but a fullscale flying cockpit overkill? I agree, some people look at my steering wheel and think Im a maniac, some people look at cockpits and think people who build them are, but SIMULATORS are best used with one of these, so it's not "too far"

That's twice I've been cyber-stalked on here this week now.. :hide:

Wow, dude.. my uncle is in exactly the same situation..!:twirl: he always wanted to be a pilot, but he lost his eye in an accident when he was a kid. He hasn't built a cockpit though, but he does play flightsims quite a lot. Plus, he's from Northern Norway too.

Wouldn't surprise me if they know each other then. Especially if your uncle is also flying online on Vatsim.
