Quote from The General Lee :One word...irony.

I think European irony and American irony must have a different meaning...lol.

Quote from The General Lee :Buying things with your own money does not make you a real man, obviously. But it is one step that youngsters need to take en route to adulthood. They have to get into the rhythm of paying for things and paying their way. Because when they hit 16 (maybe before, maybe after) their parents will say "If you want something, get a job and pay for it yourself" I'm sure you will agree that to become an adult you have to earn money to pay bills, albeit family, car, telephone, whatever.

Well said...not to mention legally held accountable for all their actions.

Quote from The General Lee :You cant be considered an adult unless you are out making a living for yourself and paying for things that need to be paid.

Don't tell that to a politician!

PS- that skittles game looks really fun!!! If I was where you are, I'd probably be playing that game once or twice a week...and enjoying a delicious brew (of course) :drink:

Quote from The General Lee :I think you are the jerk.

If we treat this kid like he's a God, he will expect to people to buy him things and one day it will hit him hard when he has been kicked out by his parents for not bringing in any money.

No one is treating him like he's God.

Quote from The General Lee : mrodgers is no jerk.....He didn't make a post saying, my car has broken down, please can someone buy me a new gearbox.

Yes he did.

Quote from The General Lee : Don't expect anyone to help you or symphasize with you, what I and others have said may sound harsh, but thats life. The quicker he realises, the quicker he can become a real man.

Become a real man? Aside from the fact that the kid doesn't even shave yet...lol. So saving enough money to buy things defines becoming a real man? Chances are you-yourself probably put this game on a credit card...which means you're not actually giving the money, but you're going to pay the credit card company back at some point later in time (Even if it is within the first payment...it's still borrowing (with interest):nod. But to go along with what you said, if becoming a man is simply saving enough money to buy things, then there are plenty of real men in jail, who cheat on their wives, who take advantage of their friends, who steal from their neighbors, and who get in massive amounts of debt....Right, dude. Maybe we should re-prioritize what it means to become a "real man".

Quote from mcintyrej :I'm 14, have had LFS for a few years now.

I worked hard for about a month to afford S2, All mrodgers was saying is that you can't have the things you want, when you want. Hey, some people may be able to do that, but alot can't.

Playapimp - You should consider doing jobs for people like neighbours or your friends, its a good way to make $5 here and there. Pretty soon you'll have enough for S2. Just keep trying!

Now that's more like it!!

Bravo young man...BRAVO!!

Quote from mrodgers :Gee, I have a wife, house, 2 kids, upkeep on 2 cars, etc, etc. My wife's car is a $330/month payment with only 5000 miles on it. I just bought it. My dishwasher and stove just broke, so I had to plunk down $1200 on some new appliances. I'd really like to have an actual graphics card (I'm on onboard) and would really like to have a G25, but I can't afford those after buying an $18000 car for the wife and $1200 in new appliances. Would some kind soul buy me a gfx card and a G25, because I really really want those, but don't have the money to pay for them!

Oh, and since I had to scrap my truck and buy the new one, I inherited the wife's old 1996 Altima with 150,000 miles on it. The radiator support I just noticed is rusted through and needs replaced and the windshield just got chipped the other day by a rock and is now cracked halfway across. But the worst part is, it's an automatic and I can't stand driving an automatic. I really need another car for myself, but since I just bought the new one, I can't carry another payment, so I'm stuck with the Altima. Could someone please buy me a new car for myself as well? You don't have to buy me all 3, the gfx, G25, and the car. Just split it up between 3 of you to make it easier. I'm not picky about the car. It doesn't have to be new, just something with a manual tranny and under 100,000 miles please!

Thanks! I await patiently for your PM.

You're a jerk. The kid is 13. How about simply be a role model and offer encouragement rather than broadcast to everyone in the world your financial blunders.

Good luck with those, though. Life is full of decisions...I'm sure you'll make the best ones for you and your family. (Although if you're complaining about your financial responsibilities, I'm going off the assumption that your wife makes all the big financial decisions in your house. Probably because you've pinned her in a corner where she had to grow the stones or watch her family commit financial suicide...so have fun playing video games!! (See where making fun of a 13 year old gets ya?))

Quote from banshee56 :We can certainly think about doing a Figure-8 race, but not in the MRT series. I watched from 20 meters above the track. There were only about 10 on track, but that was very cool to watch! And the pit procedure worked very well!

That's awesome! There is a circle-track here in Indy called the Indianapolis Speedrome...they have a weekly Figure-8 points series raced by some pricey modifieds, plus a 3 hour event at the end of the season. It is a simple small track....with basically tires for the corner markers and a completely asphalt infield...but really, that's the beauty of it. It is a very exciting and unique form of racing. If you would like, perhaps I could try and design the track somewhat similar to speedrome (thanks to the advances in google maps) to check out.

I'm sure most of the guys who were hanging around crashing and chasing each other for 2 hours after the track disappeared would be down with something...And if that takes off, maybe have a weekly points race. I'm just throwing ideas out.

But to stick with the topic....I tried to show up for practice on time (even a little bit early). I don't know if this happened to anybody else, but if it did...it's simply because you need the latest test patch. Only then will the servers show up. (It was pretty frustrating!)

That was so fun last night! Even if I did join pretty much half-way into the second race.

We definitely need to do hundred lap figure-8 or something...just for fun...like an all-star race!

Quote from Shoe Maker :You tell me that Im stupid to try and pass you while you are out of control on the grass, do you honestly believe that you can go faster on grass than I can on tarmac ? Well you can think what you like, it doesn't make you right.

My servers have rules, if you read the message that appeared when you connected to them, you would have seen that, you broke the rules, and you got banned, thats how it works.

Just try not paying your taxes and see how 'arrogant' the IRS will get, rules are rules, you don't get to brake them just because your American, despite what you seem to think, you don't own the world, you don't run the world, your just a bit of it like the rest of us are, your not special and you are not entitled to preferencial treatment.

For the last time, you have no statutory rights on my servers, I run them how I choose, and I am not obligated to let you use them. I don't come on the forums and start posting that you disrupt races and you don't know what the word 'sorry' means, but you come on here and start posting like I had no right to ban you from my own server ?

After causing 2 crashes, you never once thought to say sorry, and that makes you arrogant in my book, no consideration for others. You seem to think that because your on the server, the rest of us just have to make way for you, or we have to slow down and not try to pass you if your out of control on the grass' ? And if we are unlucky enough to get taken out by you, it's our fault ?

yeah, right...

I know some very nice Americans, lovely people that are not full of their own self importance, but your not one of them. Importance is relative, outside of my servers, Im just an S2 licence holder, the same as all the others, however, no matter what server I am on, if I screw up and wreck someone's race, or lap, then I have enough consideration for that person to appologise for my mistake, you don't, and people like that are not welcome on Redline.

The ban is already in place on all my servers, and so at least I can agree with one of your statements, your definitely not going to be using my servers anymore

If you wish to continue this discussion on the Team Redline forums, you are more than welcome to, however if you continue to attack me in the LFS forums, I shall continue to respond, check, your move.

You make no sense whatsoever. You're arrogant because..."the ball is yours...you get upset...so you're going home." I don't let you go home without saying that you're a jerk...and of course you have a problem with it. What that has to do with the American flag next to my name, paying taxes, or the IRS....I have no clue. I guess nice try with the analogy...but it's an invalid argument.

We weren't racing....it was qualifying- and it had been previously restarted...and you had either the first or second position...and you had to know I wasn't wrecking you intentionally. Like I said...it had been a while since I played...and didn't know what was the chat key. I'm not going to apologize for my ignorance...I simply didn't know. I own it...I accept the consequences.

You, however, could have went a number of routes....you could have offered to help...perhaps asked nicely what was wrong, or something to that effect...especially since you don't know me. But you chose to flame....true it's your race, and you can react however you want...but when you act like a 5 year old , it doesn't say much for ya. Good judgment call though, Danica.

I'm not attacking you. I'm simply stating what is.

Quote from Shoe Maker :If you want to make a set, do it off line when your not going to crash anyone else off the track, oh and by the way, that Evo person happens to own Redline.

You were told once about getting in the way, and you proceeded to do it again, you caused two crashes and not once did you think to say sorry.

You asked what you did wrong, I explained it to you very nicely, even though you told me I was stupid to try and pass you when you were sliding on the grass , that was the last straw so then I told you, and I quote 'your time here is up', and I banned you for 1 day so I could get some peace on my own server. Yeah I do need to work on my language, don't I ? Perhaps that phrase is considered swearing where you come from or something

As I have said many times on these forums, I am not obliged to let people like you use my servers, they are not run for your convenience, I pay for them and I run them how I please, and in that situation, it's best not to piss me off, coming on here and complaining about it like you have the right to or something, just earned you a life time ban from all my servers, nice going.

Ohhhhhh....Obviously I didn't realize who I was talking to. Obviously I couldn't fathom how important you are. I deal with arrogant idiots like you on a day-in-day-out basis...But anyways- way to be original...way to be clever.

I never asked what I did wrong...you definitely volunteered that information...and you definitely got a little too upset over a video game. Perhaps the f-word is considered swearing where I come from...but then again, perhaps it's considered swearing anywhere.

That's funny...how do you know what I'm thinking? I didn't say sorry because I hadn't played the game in a while and forgot how to chat. It wasn't until I pulled over and checked how to chat in the options menu did I talk to you...and by that time, you had blown your illogical lid.

You pass judgments on me...which is fine. But do I not have a right to call you an idiot when you prove to me that in your lack of judgment you are one? In most places that's true. In most places that's just saying, "Hey...wake up over there." So..."Wake up over there."

Life-time ban or not, I'm definitely not going to be using your servers anymore.

I was working on a set-up in Redline 3...trying to bust out some laps on a terrible set-up. That Evo person starts yelling at me because I made her go in the grass or something stupid. I didn't yell at her or anything...just told her that she made a stupid pass...maybe be more patient (I definitely would have gotten out of the way)...then flames at me and bans me. niiiice.

Goodness gracious, gents, let's all please remember the golden rule here: Do/say onto others as we would like them to do/say onto ourselves.

Listen- we're all racefans here, there's no need to get in a huge tiff. Just because someone doesn't like something doesn't mean it's the end of the world. Plenty is revealed about a person when they voice their opinions, and the manner they do so...people have the ability to choose their "internet buddies" and what they believe to be true and not to be true about a subject.

If someone thinks Fragmaster is awesome, then who cares...it's really not that big of a deal. If someone thinks Fragmaster sucks....it's really not that big of a deal either...there are plenty of great servers/teams out there.

It's a big LFS world out there....and it's never too late to show someone respect. Just remember the old proverb- as iron sharpens iron, so should one man sharpen another.

But to stay with the topic of the board- haven't heard of you guys until now. I did the oval junkies server a couple times and got kicked, but not sure why, so I haven't been back. Perhaps it would be more fun with something other than the BF1- maybe mix it up. I wasn't a fan of being kicked either, haha, but no big woo- I just found another server to race in. I know you have to eliminate the people who think it's a banger server, but maybe it's too sensative on the ban.

Peace out!

Hey guys, this is my first layout!

It's sort of modeled like a racetrack we have around here in Indianapolis called Speeedrome. They have figure-8 racing every saturday night...and also a big race called the World Figure-8 Championship race...It's three hours long...I know, awesome, right? lol

But anyways, it's a simple, yet fun little track I made in a few hours, and would definitely be a blast with a lot of people playing.

Let me know what you think!!

Quote from SamH :By saying being forced, I was rather meaning being indoctrinated. I'd hoped to say it succinctly without having to reiterate.

No, Americans don't enjoy religious freedom. Depending on whereabouts in the country you are, you can find every type of objector, from those in the South who would have everyone forced to live and breathe a Christian way (the bible-belters) to the polygamists in Utah, who would have everyone else just leave them alone to do their thing.

Yes, I've read the constitution. I've read and studied the declaration of independence. Quite extensively, actually. My children pledge their allegiance to the flag of the United States every morning at school, in fact. I helped them learn it by heart. I also helped them learn all verses of the American National Anthem, My Country 'Tis Of Thee (same tune as God Save The King/Queen), and many others...

I'll stop there, and recommend strongly that you don't dare suggest that you must be right, because I don't know what I'm talking about. Just don't.

I'll be honest. Your intimidation technique is lacking substance to the debate at hand. I don't doubt you have much knowledge of the subject. As I said before, you are correct in that they aren't forcing anyone into Christianity- I never said they did...however debating the existance of references to God in our government documents is undeniable. And currently they are trying their best to remove the references. And for the record, forcing something is completely different than indoctrinating something. Oh, and also, if you taught your kids all the verses of "My Country 'Tis of Thee" perhaps you missed verse 4-

Our fathers' God, to thee,
author of liberty, to thee we sing;
long may our land be bright
with freedom's holy light;
protect us by thy might, great God, our King.

which could prove your knowledge of american patriotic songwriting invalid. So is your argument on americans with religious freedom. I'm american, I enjoy religious freedom very much.....Argument busted.

I'm not trying to be mean about this guys, but if you give me weak arguments in an intimidating way, what is being proved, discussed, or what point is being made? Let's all remain calm! haha

Quote from XCNuse :so the only reason why america is christianly based is because of the founding fathers, not because the government said so

founding fathers of what? you mean to say the founding fathers of our country aren't the founding fathers of our government? The moment our country came in existance is when we declared our government...aka decided upon by our founding fathers.

Quote from SamH :I'm not at all interested in contributing to the thread, if it's going to go this way, but I thought I'd point out a small but glaring error.

Actually, it was really about not being FORCED to believe in Christ, or to do so in any particularly dictated fashion. To relay historical context, you really have to invert your statement. There aren't many states in the world these days where you're either forced to or prevented from your pursuit of a religious doctrine, and I suspect even less of those that would frequent these forums.

I understand your concern, but have you read the american constitution? Our declaration of independence? Our pledge of allegiance? It screams Christianity.

By the way- about "being FORCED to believe in Christ"...you're standing at the threshold of a theological discussion you have no part of wanting to take in.

Quote from Funnybear :Mate. Don't worry. I won't get offended. I rather enjoy a discussion with a little more substance. As I hope that you will not take my comments as a malicious attack in any way. These are my views and my views alone, you are more than welcome to rip them apart.

Gotta love philosophy And it's important to know that I ask a lot of questions in my answers because I want you to be able to do the same for me...and to let you know i'm not preaching from a "soap box" (a term we have adopted here declaring that a speech or presentation that is being given is the end-all of discussion).

Quote from Funnybear :But I am still struggling somewhat to get your jist in the matter. Are you . . . Is it that . . . . Should I . . . Nope, sorry. I really can't get your meanings.

Hmmm...well, let's see if this helps. I'm going to go off your moral "high ground" for this one. Perhaps this will sum it all up- is it truly moral high ground for someone who has been a victim of an act or attitude of hate to respond with an act or attitude of hate? I would say no, because in their mind- the act has already been completed.

Which now has me confused on your position. Earlier it sounded like you hated america, which is not taking the moral high ground.

Quote from Funnybear :AS regards to your sign off. I have no problem with it as a decleration of your belief I myself are from a very religious background. Although independance day is not a religious celebration, its a political statement. Celebrating the fact that you triumphed against the oppressor, that you sunk their ships, burnt thier buildings and murdered the infidel in their thousands (As did we, we have no moral high ground here. I do, but then I wasn't there and I always claim the moral high ground) Does all that sound familiar?

Allah be with you.

I honor your beliefs, and you probably understood that I already presumed your faith as well. The age-old war, is it not?

Independence day is not a religious celebration, indeed. But only because the spirit of the holiday, the reasons for america's independence and original colonization of america have all been lost over time....moving in favor of a secular nation founded upon protestant christian theology.

You want to know something that should inspire hate? I'll tell you- Living in the middle east, you more than likely have an umbrella of Islam over your head that persecutes Christian missionaries...giving you freedom and peace of mind to practice your religion however you please. America, founded as a Christian country which has separated church from state, and is slowly eliminating the freedom of religion from every context of state- while at the same time allowing other religions to practice. So as a Christian, I am called to go into the nations that despise Christianity and even in my own country which is showing to eliminate Christianity to preach the message. Would it be appropriate for me to hate my position because i'm jealous of the Islam umbrella in the middle east? Maybe, but it would be wrong...like you said, take the moral high road

Quote from Funnybear :I'm really sorry. I couldn't get any of what you where just talking about.

I'm not being facisious but if you could just explain yourself better because I must be having a dense moment.

Honestly, I don't think I could have put it any simpler.

Quote from Funnybear :I also assume you didn't mean for your sign off to be ironic in any way did you. No. Thought not.

I don't see that it is irony at all. A very major reason our country was founded was based on the principle that we are able exercise freedom of religion...which is right along the lines of the 4th of July...so if anything, it gives someone like me doubly the reason to be thankful. If you hate my sign off, is it appropriate to say that your problem is not with america, but with the fact that america has no problems with me having faith in Jesus Christ? (The reason I bring that up, is because it seems you already know) I'm very interested, so please don't get offended.

Quote from Funnybear :I'm not going to rain on your parade, have your celebration. Chink your glasses, throw some firecrackers, drink your beer. Just don't shout it out to the rest of the world. Because the rest of the world doesn't need any more escuses to hate america.

Ok, i think i've seen enough- this guy is a classic example. Here we are given one extreme presented under the premise that americans are imposing our political prowess in places where we shouldn't be, resulting in a "hate" felt by non-americans (and americans, mind you) that need not arise. However, his argument is given from the same position- one that is given in a place that is more than likely not welcomed, is given to change america's political stance, and more than likely will result in american's hating him.

Now here's the deal- i think it's easy to assume that he doesn't truly believe what he's saying because he's retaliating the very way he's offended...which i guess is normal, but as most of the world sees america, it's sort of "barbaric".

I'm not saying don't have a point of view, because it's important that you do. But when you hate america because they have proven they hate your foreign affair policy, it doesn't make it right....the same is true when america doesn't like certain middle east foreign affair policies by hi-jacking planes and destroying the world trade centers, and part of the pentagon. I guess it's important to realize the coin has two sides, and usually it falls one way or the other- it's very hard to get a coin to balance on its side.

By the way- remember that our country was mainly founded by europeans...only some 230 years ago. So we got the best- and worst- of all your governments...haha...and we're still trying to weed out the worst.

Happy 4th of July! Grace and peace to all of God's children in every kingdom!
