I've been playing LFS since 2003, I was a very active Codemaster's forum user when Colin McRae Rally 3 was being developed and someone mentioned we should try LFS. I remember gaining points to unlock faster cars in the demo Big grin

Quote from JBiturbo :S3 however was a total disapointment, you payed the same for only 1 track and, who knows, maybe even false expectations ( but thats what i think, thats what history taught me ). So S3 was a big let down, 8 years and the devs managed to release only 1 track and charge the same!

Quote from JBiturbo :and coincidence, S3 was released right before Xmas, cause maybe money was tight and they need to raid their faithfull LFS fanboys for a last loot for Xmas presents! But thats my theory, doesn't mean its the truth.

That's a pretty serious accusation

Hadn't played LFS for a long time but last month I started playing one or two races with my brother during lunch break.

I decided to get S3 to show my support for LFS and the great effort you guys have put in through the years (well, and of course I wanted to try Rockingham) and I have to say I'm very impressed with the end result.

So thank you and keep up the good work Smile

Quote from AndroidXP :
However, what I don't understand is why the passwords are even decryptable. They should just use a good hashing algorithm and compare the password input to the hash instead, because even the LFS devs should have no business in actually knowing my password. The only "benefit" from decrypting the passwords is so that you can send it in the password retrieval mail, but as we know that's not a tangible benefit for anyone at all.

I don't think passwords are decryptable, they are just stored in simple text. I didn't know about the login retreive page traxxion mentioned, that's a pitty and I think it should be changed. Passwords should be encrypted

So the purpose of this website is to list websites that store passwords in clear text, thus being insecure.

So a friend of mine mentioned this website on twitter and I got a bit surprised when I saw LFS.net listed. I find that a bit odd so this is meant to be a heads-up for Victor, to either fix the issue (I doubt there's one) or to sort things out with the author of the website.

Quote from lalathegreat :you know the saddest thing about this whole thing is. as soon as the the new patch with the physics comes out, almost all of you will forget it was over a year late with nothing in between but changes like

Reduced minimum speed in SHIFT+U mode to 0.1 m/s

demo racers haven't got the right to complain

I waited till I installed so I could give proper feedback

Everything went ok during the install and the file associations/shortcuts are fine as well. Personally I would like the default folder to be something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Live for Speed".

Probably the only thing that matters about my specs is the OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
(UAC disabled)

edit: working fine

Quote from Takumi_lfs :Scawen, I moved the cfg.txt file and redid my configurations and it doesnt flicker anymore. Could it be because it used the older cfg.txt file it flickers?

Here is the debug

E: It really works

E2 : If I put the old cfg file back it still flickers.. I think that you should add a blank cfg file with the new patch.

you could also paste both cfg's so scawen can figure out what was causing it

Quote from Takumi_lfs :Still have the Black screen flickering when starting from windowed to fullscreen using Shift+F4 with test 3.exe

try running lfs.exe from z18 (start it in a window and then shift+f4 after it loads) and see if the problem still occurs when you go back to z19

Quote from Scawen :The ways to go to full screen :

SHIFT+F9, SHIFT+F10, SHIFT+F11, SHIFT+F12 (can be programmed in Screen Options)

Anyway, how about this Test 3 (attached)... I'd be surprised if it makes a difference but it has one more thing like Z18.

both test 2 and 3 are working now (after using z18 like I described in my last post)

Quote from Scawen :Which version of Windows? Sorry if you've said before.

Can you get to full screen at all if you start in a window, or is it just a black window and flickering mouse whatever you do?
What if you try different SHIFT+F9-F12 keys?

I got the Z18 exe, renamed it to lfsz18 and ran it on the same folder i got lfs z19. The game was in full screen so I quit and when I launched it again the window was smaller than the one I had in z19 and going full screen didn't cause any flickering.

The funny thing is that now the problem is gone with z19 as well

I'm confused

Quote from Scawen :Does anyone else get this bug?

And is that new, or the same in old versions?

I tried Z19 now and got the same problem, the only way I can get out that black screen is by bringing up the task manager and then terminating lfs' process while the screen flickers, which isn't very easy to do

actually! I found a bug, if I start LFS in a window and then try to change it to fullscreen, I get a black screen with the mouse flickering in the center. I can make a movie if u think it would help you

with Z19, I got no problem whatsoever with clicking the buttons, the only issues are:

- clicking on the bottom corners causes LFS to minimize (it shows the start menu if you click on the bottom left and the desktop if u click on the bottom right - which is where the show desktop button is located in windows 7)

- the rezise window icons are shown even in fullscreen

After getting minimized to windows I can still go back to LFS, I just need to click on its icon. Switching to window and back to full screen fixes both of the above problems.

With the test exe I no longer have the problems above but now I get the misplaced clickarea like some people are getting in Z19

Quote from Scawen :If any fishermen are reading, I'll just let you know that any closed beta tests are stored in a completely different location with an impossible to guess URL and the downloads are also protected by passwords, so you will never find a Scirocco or Rockingham by making up test patch names with high numbers.

damn I was going to use this quote for my sig but it's to long

the connection list looks good :-) most of the time i can't get over 100 fps so shift+u works fine

I was hoping it would be out when I got home but it's no big deal, I know what's like to code without sleeping
