i would say that the best thing to do is just get a feel for whats going on, im using the dfgt and i find that when i drift I'm nearly at lock to lock and that when i transition i need to brake as i transfer the weight. really the only tips people can give for drifting are setups and pointers, but if you want to drift you need to figure it out on your own. and above all try to stick to a easy layout instead of real tracks because the bumps and hills can mess you up as a beginner.

Quote from Shade Of Neon :I'm new just got a s1 licence and upgrade to s2 when I save up more money since I'm really tight with spending, but I'm from Australia and I usually drift or gymkhana style. Ahahaha hopefully I wouldn't lag? Plus at the moment I'm using AWD and it's the most fun drifting I've ever had

wanna drift sometime?
if so i can message you my Skype and we can work out a time to drift

Quote from TandemMonster :Im from North America btw. Im trying to drift on the keyboard but not working at to well. Trying to get a wheel, and you have a point no one does really drift that are not from the english setting.... As soon as i get a wheel or whatever im sure ill play with you and i dont have s1 or s2 license i want one but dont have the money right now to spend... I try my best to drift with kb. If you want to drift with me or whatever just send me a message, even though i dont have an s1 license ill be glad to drift. : D

I have a DFGT and its alot of fun, but a reminder, you need a small enough desk that will be sturdy enough to hold a wheel. but yeah I might drift with you but thats when you get s1 or 2 because i hate the XRG... anyways hit me up sometime when you get it and let me know when your available.
S1 drift lobby?

ive been drifting for a while alone now and it has been fun but it also has been stale just drifting alone and it doesn't help that the only drift lobby's are for demo or s2 so i was wondering if anyone would be willing to open a drift lobby for s1?

Quote from RiddinGT :WTF Drifting is not Racing?! Drifting is ALL about Racing and speed!!!

Drift is the fastest way of driving a corner, especially on a Downhill.
The only reason why they dont drift in most Motorsports are the Tyres. Cause they drive too many rounds and need to safe there tyres.
But on Mountain you race Max. 3 Minutes so Drift is a good option to drive good times on a Mountain, even if not that easy.

And about Points
Indeed its just a waste of time to drift for Points.
We're not in D1GP here, we have no skilled judges just some realy dumb server sided Point-System what u can Cheat with Drifting on straights ect.

Thats it.
The most Points-Drifter are just kidz who has no idea about Drifting and Drives Slalom on straights to get more points, and call it Arab-Drift haha XD.

They just ruin the real Drift, a advanced Racing Technique to drive corners really fast.

im not sure if you understand but if i was in a xrt drifting around a corner and a xrt was grip racing on the inside line while i was attempting to even get a straight lline in the inside i would get passed and destroyed, when someone drifts its about having fun. and that's how the sport started with people driving on the mountains and going sideways for fun.

as for the track i think we would all be happy with having ebisu on the game, personally drifting the japenese touge would be be fun and all but if it was in the game you would need to have a sustained challenge like driving on the right side of the road in a right hand drive car with traffic in the middle of the night. and i think that would just be way too much to sustain the fun factor and after a while it would get boring going on the same touge over and over again. so i think a randomizer for the track would be a fun way to keep it fresh or maybe have the akagi and osaka touge from real life. idk, i think that its a cool idea but it would soon wear off on me so id just like all of the ebisu courses.

Quote from Gunn :Check the resolution of the image (length and width in pixels). LFS skins are square images, if you use an elongated image like a long rectangle it will stretch and distort. Additionally, the actual size makes a difference too - if you use a tiny little pic LFS will try to apply it to the 3D model and you will get distortion and stretching. Common skin sizes include: 512 x 512, or 1024 x 1024 etc. I hope this info is useful, good luck.

yeah i found out that the file was just about 200x200

Quote from Silverracer :Looks alright to me.

Make sure the other skins that you download from the internet are saved just like that.

It is quite likely that the skin that you downloaded might be of the wrong size, or for a different car.

For example, if you save a skin made for the XFG as a XRT it would look weird...

Anyway, I'll keep an eye on this thread. Post if you got more issues to deal with.

Thanks, you give me hope that the LFS community may be a little better than the GT5 community

Quote from GenesisX :I'm out of Toronto too. I'm not sure where all the other servers are located, but AFAIK, never had much lag problems. Ran frequently on BL1 servers, and some drift FE / AutoX servers. There should be some S1 servers running only the XRT, FZ, and AWD car (w/e it's called lol). We should get together sometime and just LAN Party XP

sounds good to me, how can i contact you to set up a time for us to drift?

Quote from Silverracer :Hmmm. Have you managed to save a skin from the internet and got it to work without it turning muddy/stretched?

Anyway, try this: http://www.lfsforum.net/attach ... d=107320&d=1279967028

That's a skin I've made a while back. Click on the link above, right click on the image and save it as "XRT_MMC EVO TOMMI.jpg" your /LFS/data/skins folder.

Now, in LFS, go to the pits, select the XRT and click on "new colours". The file "MMC EVO TOMMI" will appear on the list and you will be able to click on it to use it from now one.

Does that skin appear fine in-game? Or does it still looks weird?

You can take a screenshot in-game by pressing CTRL+s. The screenshot will be saved in the /LFS/data/shots folder. You can attach that image here so that we will be able to view it...

Have a go and let us know...

Thanks i will do!

Looks like this

turned out great!

Quote from Silverracer :Hi there! Can you attach the skin-file (the .jpg) image to your next post to see if the skin file is ok?

It also would help if you take a screenshot of the skin in-game so that someone could try and see what could be wrong for the skin to turn out muddy or stretched...

i got it from google and it just had the layout of the pic, and im not too sure on how to take a screen shot but ill see if i can do it

Just a question why are there no s1 servers that allow the use of the s1 cars or just drift servers for s1 in general?

Quote from tbofram :what part of canada are you in? when i was in canada two summers ago i didn't find i had any crazy issues with lag even with Euro servers let alone american ones. I was just out of Ottawa, i would agree with GenesisX as you would 100% need practice on same layout/setup as if you are anything like me when i first gave drifting in LFS a shot i kept changing servers and setups and i never really got very far as i never got used to anything

im just a while away from toronto which is south of ottawa
