Quote from uiop :so why didnt u eased things on the gas pedal? u could then draft him the hole race isnt lap1

with the bird view you can clearly see that just before the impact they are not only side by side, but senna is clearly ahead, and on the racing line.

i dont see any reason to give up in such case.

100% his fault?

I wonder how he could justify this ramming.

Quote from ayrton senna 87 :more proof that it is slow guys in T1 that cause the accidents

http://www.dragon-karting.com/tempimages/flip.mpg

i would have rammed him personally, instead of swerving.

Personnally I would call that "The Slower and the Stupid".

We just can't say whether the latter is faster because it didnt even managed to reach L1/T1 :-)

Actually you are a funny guy Dendy Boi.

I remember few weeks ago a race in SO classic, where I slightly touched you when braking in T1, with absolutely no consequence.
The lap after you sent me to the air, and you explained that it was a 'reply'.
Despite my apologizes for the first little contact.
What is funny is that you take this long thread to explain that a contact from behind is nearly a blue flag for a faster driver, but when it happen to you you seem to feel it as an unacceptable offense...
not a very convincing driving attitude.

see you in T1 mate.

the shortest and best definition of ISI physics I've ever read

i did it and it works perfectly, in LFS and GTR, rfactor,....
i bought a very cheap saitek gamepad, which provides up to 16 buttons.
it comes with a keyboard mapping software, which allows to map any button with any combination of keyboard keys (including shift for pit, restart,...).
several game profiles allows to select different mappings for every game.

note that adding more USB controllers may induces some lag (display freeze).
i found that 4 devices is a maximum in my config (nforce2 chipset).

at the end this device is a must when racing online.

I own an ECCI 6000 system for 2 years.
I would say that the best added value of it is the pedals.
the feeling is so close to real race car pedals!
the heavy weight of pedals provides a very accurate 'feedback' of the actual position.
much better than speed7 pedals for example.
regarding the wheel, I think the feeling is great too. the passive hydraulic system mimics a real powersteer and provides great precision.
of course some feedback on front drive load is still missing.
I dont miss vibrations and the like, but feeling when you loose the front would be a true enhancement.
anyway its a great system.
is the price right or not, mainly depends on how much you are ready to invest in your simulator.
do you want the best parts whatever the price, or do you want the best price/quality ratio?
WRs are usually not achieved with best in class devices, and dont expect to become an alien with such system. however you will probably gain in consistency, on long league races for examples.
its a good choice for sure, especially in the long term. this system can probably last a decade without problem, just think to change pots.

Quote from B2B@300 :Following that idea wouldn't it be fairer to collate all the finnish times from the different divisions and calculate each individuals standing from that?

I know there's possible abuses of that system, but whne you stop and think about it, maybe its not as stupid as it sounds... e.g. if a potenial div A racer qualifies slow on purpose to get a clearer run in a lower division for example.. it may aid him in the opening stages, but being an enduro he would soon be lapping traffic and having to repeatedly be dealing with slower traffic, so the initial advantage could quickly become a disadvantage

I know, I know dumb idea... :P

i totally agree with this idea.
at least some points could be gained according to the number of laps and times.

another way to eliminate the risk of abuse could be to use the overall championship standing - or last race standing - to set the whole starting grid.

Quote from KayJay :
If I'm racing competitively in Div A for 1 hour and 50 minutes and my tyres go, yes it's partly my fault, but I'm going to be really frustrated that someone in a lower division gets more points than me!

if your tyres go before the end and you didnt manage to pit in time, i do think you are not racing competitively in a endurance league (especially in divA), whatever is your PB.
to me, if one wants to get points in a 2 hour race, the first step is to finish the race.

its true for any race, by the way.
i may be wrong but I cant remember any real life race where not finishing drivers get more points than finishing ones.

the split in divisions is just a mean to overcome the limitation of number of racers per server, but we are all driving in the same championship, and we all have to finish the race to expect some reward.

different divisions does not mean different classes, like NGT and GT.
at least its my opinion :-)

I agree too that a DNF should not give much points (what about no point at all?).
the purpose of the league is to do endurance. if someone does not finish, whatever the reason, he should be ranked behind all the finishing racers.
like in F1 for example.
having made a better quali should not count. again, just like in real life races.

looks very good.
I like the idea of doing qualifications monday and/or tuesday before the race. more realistic and easier to schedule with others real life constraints.

two suggestions:
- more chance to have wind? like 30% for no wind
- what about allowing composition of new teams only for a season (independently from established teams)

I agree shorter seasons is better. But it could be interesting to maintain a overall standing over seasons, namely an lfsendu standing.

thanks for your work.

i think that the team event registration has been closed at same time as the regular season.
however, I would be very pleased if single drivers already racing in the regular season were allowed to build teams for this team event only - independently from the real team they may belong to.

In this case I would be ready to belongs to such occasional team.

EDIT: oops I misunderstood your suggestion at the first read LawVS. anyway I am still favorable in re-opening the team event registration for active singles.

intentional wreckers usually wreck and wait for being kicked or banned, or leave before it happens and go to another server to do it again.

the ban system is ok, but could be valid on all servers, not only the server where it has been voted.
something like the delay before re-attempting to join after too many clicks.

regarding a lock system, I dont think it will help because wrecking is a behavior issue, not a skill issue.
newbies or slower people should always be welcome to join, ask good setups and learn online from the others, as long as they follow flag and crc rules.
moreover, slower, lapped people is part of the race, and quite interesting to deal with.

even fastest people behavior can be questionable, no need to recall famous names (not talking about mistakes we always do - shit happens, but intentional, very aggressive driving).

the LFS community should work hard, and harder these times, to stay open and friendly, patiently waiting for wreckers to move away.
it will certainly happen since new sims appears every 6 months.
1 year ago, there were few wreckers in LFS S1, but *a lot* in GTR.
S2 is new, and more popular than S1, so morons are coming like flies on a halogen light.
rfactor, GTL and GTR2 will hopefully be their next target.

in the meantime, we should take it easy, public races are not league races or hotlapping or a ladder competition, just a good place to practice racing and have fun.

bty, are there plans to re-activate the ladder system?

yep, same feeling here.
the counterpart is that the race will be very open, and probably it will really deserve the term of endurance.
like in some 24H races where the winner is the team who spent the less time in repairing the car :-)

fortunately we have the automatic yellow flag system.

i find 2 hours almost perfect.
different pitstop strategies are possible, and you really need to drive consistently.
more than 2 could be possible, but maybe not necessary.

it may be interesting to start a poll to understand why are there so many misses.
i think it is mostly summer holidays.

apart from that, it may be good to accept as much season registering as requested, even after the season has begun.
then, just allowing the 60 fastest drivers to race, for each race.

in others words, having a race per race registering (limited to 60); and in parallel maintaining a season standing.
it would allow to have 3 full divisions at each race and to accept people that just want participate to few races (beginners or those who have strong constraints).
for example some of my team mates have not registered just because they were not able to attend most races for sure.

i dont know if it is acceptable for the lfsendu team in terms of work load, which is already huge i believe.

cheers.

even with tyre wear long stints are very close to hotlapping.
if you want to run 15 or 20 laps in R2 at Westhill for example you must drive at a very constant pace, hence keeping tyres in a quite narrow temperature range.
in these conditions braking points and so on are mostly always the same.
low wind may help to change racing conditions and become a benefit for those who can adapt quickly, rather than seeing those who have simply run hundreds of laps ahead.
from the last race, at least in DivB I havent see many mistakes, maybe 2 or 3 small mistakes max per person.
