Picked this up for a great price. It had one bad ignition coil but otherwise, it is a good runner. Sadly I still haven't had my replacement coil delivered yet due to the holidays.
Been autocrossing it lately. Took it apart this weekend to replace vacuum hoses and a plastic coolant pipe. Ended up sending out the injectors to be rebuilt and putting the car up on stands for the next week.
At times, I do wish I sprung for the FRS when the chance was given to me. However, it is really nice to have a cheap, old BMW that I don't have to worry about ruining when I take it to college. I've had my 318 for 9 months now and I haven't even though about washing it yet.
I have a Corsair TX750 PSU. I will be more than fine with powering up my system.
I have the former C2D E6300. I thought it was 1.83GHz but may have remembered wrong since it is so long ago. It is an old CPU for sure.
I run short watercooled loop right on my rig. Swiftech MCR220 radiator (2x120) and a Swiftech Apogee GTZ. I don't see past 35*C ever with my current setup.
Yep, I'll check on my CPU once I go back home from college.
I do have a 64-bit OS. I can probably steal 1GB of ram from my family's spare desktop too and see how it fares with that. I will have to downclock to 667 mHZ though if I do run 5 GB RAM.
Ebay prices for Q6600's are around $50 too. Doesn't seem like a bad upgrade if I really need it. I'm not big into computers anymore, as seen by my ancient hardware, so I don't really want to build a new rig or dump money into my aging one. I mainly just use my laptops for web surfing and school work.
I went for the waterproof one. I love it but it is big. The water resistant feature is good as I can always rinse off whatever college beverage gets spilled on it.
Sold it to my cousin. This car is much easier to live with being a college student. However, I'm still fixing little things wrong with it so I can't take it to school yet.
S52 would be fun, especially since it is pretty light. I do want to autox this thing though, so money will be poured into fixing it up and good suspension first.
I got the M44 in mine. The US only got the M42 or M44.
Coming from an E39 M5, it is a very humble car. I do like it, but I am getting sick of working on it out in the cold. I keep finding more things wrong with it that I don't have time to fix, or it is too cold for me to be working on it.
Once I come back from school this summer, the work resumes. Vacuum and fuel hoses, PCV, power steering hoses, cooling hoses, brakes and some rust prevention. Will need to get an alignment check to see if I need subframe and RTAB bushings.
Moved from an autotragic BMW X5 into a 5-speed Subaru Impreza. However, I haven't had it for nearly 2 weeks as Subaru is chasing a droning sound on it. They replaced the transmission already but haven't released the car back to me as they don't think it is fixed. Blech...
Third day off of school because of the recent Halloween snowstorm. I'm finally regaining my sanity after all the fire calls on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Hopefully the school gets power soon; I'm sick of being off of school with nothing to do.
