I don't want to drag this too far off-topic, but do I understand this 'name and shame' policy correct? It's not ok for anyone to write the name of the offender in the forum (even when proof is posted), even though basically anyone can find out what the persons name is by checking out the replay? I mean, what's the point?
I'm currently trying to get the hang of the Skippy after I'm growing a little bored of racing around in the Solstice. I'm able to consistently drive low 1:49's at Laguna and the last 2 days in most of my races I've either been clear of the field running in 1st or I've driven behind some Alien who's driving <1:48.5's and therefor leaving me basically hotlapping the most of the race.
As I've said, I'm trying to get the hang of the Skippy @ VIR South right now. I've probably done a good 100laps of practice on the track and the best I've done sofar was a 1:17.7 which seems to be not very competetive as I've discovered when I was driving in one of the qualifyings. I finished 12th out of 14th with the above time... however I felt very honored to get crashed into by AJ Allmendinger - it's just something different to get hit by a Nascar driver (even though I dislike Nascar) .
To get back to my slowlyness in the Skippy, I'm not really sure how much is down to the setup I'm using. With the current setup I'm using, which I found on the iRacing forums, the car seems very loose to me. I'm trying my best to do most of by braking before the corner and make sure that I'm at least a little on the throttle in the corners to keep the rear from slipping away. I've also watched some 1:16 time laps on youtube and try to learn from them, however it seems as if they don't have to fight the 'loosyness' that I'm experying. I'm guessing it's down to my technique getting around corners as the way you brake and accelerate through the corners are different than in the Solstice and my setup.
How long did it take you guys to get the Skippy the track around relatively quick?
This is the longest post I've written here in my very short 26 post (I think it's 26, not many anyways) LFS forum career, so I hope I didn't put you to sleep...
PS: Anyone here got a Skippy setup for VIR South that is capable of 1:16's or maybe high 1:15's? I would greatly appreacite it if you're willing to share it
I decided to give iRacing a try yesterday and after most of you guys said mostly positive things about it I went ahead and got a 6 month subscription
So far I have to say, I love it. I started practicing for 30mins. and after beeing able to keep the car on the road for more than 2 corners I decided to try a race... After figuring out how to enter a race (seems a little unclear when you're new) I drove about 7 races in Solstice @ Laguna. I managed to get my time down from first around 1:55's to a 1:49.8. I think playing LFS before starting with iRacing helped me alot. I just need to work on getting less incidence points... in the 7 races I've driven I average about 8.5inc points which is way too much.
Happens to me as well, about every 2nd to 3rd race. It was all fine a week ago iirc. It just gets a bit frustrating having to rejoin and start in the midfield just to get crashed.
I'm pretty sure it's a bug, like others posted, it only happens in the restricted FO8 and not the non-restricted ones It's not that hard to workaround it, but it would be nice if it gets fixed soon.
S2 is the full package of what is available. You can play with people who have S1 and even still play on demo servers (but why would you once you have S2 ).
I believe he is referring to SoftTH. If you have any problems setting it up, then check their forum - they have pretty much discussed any of 'today's' games and how to set them up (and if it's possible).
Once you've upgraded your account (by buying the game online) you'll be able to unlock the game without any additional downloads (if you have the demo installed already )
I'm not totally sure if I like to see Demo users on S2 servers (FBM @ BL1 for example). It's good that they need to 'activate' their account, however they'll still be able to create more accounts. (doesn't mean all demo's are bad driver, it's just that some of them like act against the intrests of racing).
I'm not complaining about it, it's just the thought I had when I was reading through the changes - There's a chance that I'm totally wrong
edit: ok, ok... I've just read some more of the Test Patch thread and I see that it's pretty well handled and controllable very nice
I visit the forum couple times a day (and yet this is my 5th (I believe) post on these boards, this needs to change!) and play LFS a couple times a week
