I just got my new PSU today! Ultra X2 550W Modular! Man is it sweet! I love that I only have to use the cables that I need... so nice for the small case I have it in Awesome looking, and it comes with nice cables.

Now to overclock!

Quote from InsaneJeff :*sigh* I give up...

You just bought a set of DDR400 ram, and your other fastest set is DDR333, the DRR400 ram you just got, will be slowed down to DDR333 (or worse if you use the other set). You might aswell just use the two new sticks you got and throw out/sell the rest.

Thanks, that is exactly what I was wondering... if the old stuff would slow me down. Out with the old, in with the new!!!

About my CPU... i have read that the one i have is good for overclocking. I just have to do a little more research before I feel comfortable attempting it. I also need to look into cooling... i am told by all the companys out there that I need to upgrade my heat sink with, you guessed it, one of theirs! So i don't know which one to get... although I think I have narrowed it down because case and mobo size is a mojor constraint.
Zalman CNPS8000, MCX64-V, OCZ tempest, or Zalman CNPS7000B.

I just ordered this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ ... .asp?Item=N82E16820145450

It's good, i think hehe

Oh, and i also found out that the 2 512 sticks i already have are 333mhz, and also confirmed that my 2 256mg sticks are 133mhz. Now the 256's are the exact same make and model, while the 2 512's are different companys, but still each 333mhz.
Which set, if any, would you suggest leaving with my new corsair set? I heard some where that if the other set is slower, then you should leave it out... or was it if the set isn't 'exactly' the same, leave em' out. I'm confussed...

What do you think?

I was wondering if using 4 sticks, with 2 being slow 133mhz sticks, and 2 being good fast ones, would slow down my load times. So note to self, buy a good fast dual set of memory, and only use that! I have to say, I only plan on playing just LFS for the next 6 months, so 1gb of memory should be fine. After that time, I will have enough money to buy 2x1gb dual set... so a total of 3gb buy then, and a second 7600GT sli gpu. but untill then, 2x512 of fast memory will be better than what I currently use, and plenty for LFS.

Here's what I did!!!

Bought a new system all togeather!
EVGA Socket 939 Micro ATX motherboard with SLI and 4 Memory slots
AMD 3200+ CPU (haven't overclocked it YET! )
nVidia 7600GT sli GPU
1.5gb Ram (only 133mhz, but free, soon to be remedied)
80gb HD (again, not top of the line, but free)
Ultra Modular PSU (flippin cool, waiting on it still)
plus a cool case, some lighting, uv braided wires, fans, fun stuff

thanks for all the help... now LFS runs so clear, that it nearly feels like I am there! Now I just need those eDimensional 3d glasses....

Thanks, I think this helps out... I think I will go with 2x512. As my mobo can handle 4gb, or 2 'sets' of dual memory, total of 4 slots... and I currently have 2x256 mb cards, and some mis-matched 512 cards in there, both sets of which are only 133mhz so sad. So I am going to get a nice dual 512 memory set, and replace my mismatched 512 set (which then I'll use at work). So I would have a total of 1.5gb ram (2x512 and 2x256) both running in dual mode.

Thanks for your help!!

The title says it all... just wondering what would be the best for me to do... I want atleast 1gb memory, and I have 4 slots for DDR memory. My mobo says it can take 3200 series 400 speed DDR. What would be best for me?
1gb, 2x512, or 4x256mb DDR RAM?

Thanks,

I couldn't agree more... I am new to online racing, but just this evening I found this to be more than a little irritating. I know the person joining means well, but really... when I am on lap 9 of 10, and just want to finnish up... let me go!

I'll try to dig up my designs...
I don't think I can find my ones showing exact messurements for each tube. But I can find a sheet full of measurments and angles that can then help you draw up your own detailed designs.

System is AMD 64 3200
1gb ram
1680x1050 screen

I just don't want to spend too much money. Any others better for the price? I am only using this computer for LFS.

it is much better than before i feel. but i do need to make the clutch stiffer. So once that is taken care of, it will be perfect!

So after a few hours with a cutting wheel, mig welder, and messuring tape, here you go! I wanted the clutch to have the longer throw, like in a real car. I based the pedals measurements off of my RX-8, which has a 2 inch throttle and brake throw, and a 4 inch clutch throw, so that is what this setup now has. I just have to stiffin up the clutch spring now though because of the added leverage.

By the way, the 1x1 tube on the right bolts to my racing rig.

Pic of my racing rig is from 4 years ago when it had the old logitech wheel. now it has the G25 and the shifter attached. I'll have to get updated pictures soon.

Yeah, it's AGP. Is that bad? I really don't know...
I am guessing that AGP is getting harder to find a good Graphic card in?
nVidia still makes some though, right? Which one would you suggest?

oh, and Forbin, is Rambus RDRAM bad? I don't know...

Thanks again every one!

Which Video Card would you suggest?

Ok, lets have some fun! I need your expert help... I am not very knowlageable in this area. I know alot about cars and racing, but not about PCs.
My set up:

(2) Intel Xeon 2.0 GHz Processors both hyperthreadable making 2 real procs and 2 virtual procs

(1) PNY Nvidia 128 MB ram Geforce FX 5700 with DVI and VGA outputs

1.5 Gigs of Rambus DRAM

1680x1050 res 21" Gateway Monitor

eDimensional 3D glasses

G25 wheel setup

As you can see, my set up is decent, but I think I need a better Video Graphics Card to run LFS and GTR2.

Any idea?

I don't want to spend more than $300, but the less the better.

THANKS!

I had to remove the face of the pedals in order to pull it out of the plastic molded base. You will know what I mean when you try to disassemble. Also, I do have a ton of allen wrentches, but for some reason, the bolts on the pedals just didn't fit. And they are really really tight with lock tite. So I had to do the ole' notch and flat-head unscrew method after stripping a few of them trying to take them off. There are 6 bolts total, and I only got 2 out with out stripping.
Well, back to racing! Man I love the G25! Every one who tries it wants one! Even if they aren't too into sim racing... its that good! There is NOTHING that can touch the quality of this G25 for less than a thousand bucks!
Happy racing! I hope to see you all online soon... I have to get a better PC first.

So I could no longer stand the way the bottom pivot pedals felt... I have been dealing with it for over 5 years... ever since my first Logitech wheel for GT3. I always wanted to flip them over, and make them top pivoting, like the way 90% of all cars are! So after spending some serious time with a level, ruler, calipers, paper, pen, and my RX8, I came up with my first prototype. I made it out of wood, because, well, that's what I had on hand. I will end up making it out of steel, to match the rest of my custom made driving setup... but that is a while in the future. And for now, I needed to try.
I started the mod at 1am... I just couldn't sleep. Taking the G25 pedals apart is easy, execpt for the pedals surfaces, those I had to use a cutting wheel and make notches to unscrew with a flat head screw driver.
After all was said and done, I have a working prototype. It works better than before... much better! I can now do a proper heel toe downshift
SWEET!

I'll post more, and better, pictures once I have my one made of metal.
