2002/2003, literally learning how to drive in the XF GTI. I'd played lots of racing 'sims' before that but the realism of LFS struck me as a learning opportunity. Got into a real car not long after and was right at home, despite transitioning from mouse to irl wheel.

Later on, someone in a drift server teaching me how to drift

then going on to spend lots of time drifting fern bay black rev to eurobeat tunes.

Not a lighting question, but, the aliasing in the screenshots made me wonder.. will new version come with new anti-aliasing options? Not a high criticality thing just curious. (currently rendering the game at 6880x2880 for my 3440x1440 display, in addition to the in-game AA, to get rid of jaggies as much as possible)

Love the progress. Blows my mind to see a game almost as old as I am getting modern overhauls, and even the small updates are good!

Having owned both a 2016 iM with this engine, and a 2021 corolla with the 2.0, some notes:

The new chassis has little/no sound deadening, and the muffler is not crazy quiet even if it is a normal muffler, so the 1.8 should be louder.

Interior is good.

Handling is pretty good, if a bit understeery (i've had the tail slip out once on me irl)

I like this a lot, but the engine sounds like im getting my teeth drilled.

This is shaping up nice. The engine doesn't feel quite right vs my 2017 EX-T 6MT, but it's been a few years since i owned that car so im not sure if it's the sim or memory.

I've been racing with a mouse in LFS on and off since 2003, almost 30,000 miles worth, and I agree.

damn near perfect. my only request is for the stock race setup to boost the braking power. It can go quite a bit higher before abs kicks in and best times are in the territory of very very mild abs kick-in (1300/1400?)

This gen civic was my first car. Incredible to sit in this mod in vr. I can almost smell it.

I don't think the handling is quite right but that may be the engine more than the mod.

Using the LFS auto-shift.

With mods i've gotten used to figuring out which will and won't perform well in auto, and do switch to manual. such as the case with this car.

In manual, I am used to letting the gas off to shift.

Weird habits from growing up with M/K on this sim and learning to drift that way over 20,000+ driven miles. lol. I don't mind manual but i've gotten used to the wonky and/or good behavior the auto shift mode puts out.

Love this mod. 10/10 sounds, 10/10 driving feel, 10/10 balance.

Good car. Only flaw is auto-shift doesn't exit to next gear from redline quite often.

In manual shift it overheats the clutch way too easily. get a few drifts out of it and it melts.

Small feature request for VR DK2 mode: bring live chat nearer the center of view and slightly enlarge it.

Right now it's either: super small hud to bring it into view while racing, barely readable. Or: I crane my neck to look that far away from the road and crash or veer just to read a text. (juust like real life, i suppose, if you were texting. but I never had issue on a monitor. just glance quick.)
