I doubt this race represents ferrari's performance for the rest of the year for 2 reasons - 1. Barrichello finished 2nd in the first race of 2005 with that weak car so it's not representative of true pace especially when you consider the next --> 2. ferrari did more winter testing at bahrain then any other team, they where well setup to get the max they could this weekend but they wont have that advantage for the other 18? races.
Schumacher will as always get more performance out of the car then would seem possible and i'm sure its better then last years car but doubt they can keep up with the other top teams on true pace. Schumacher will keep trying to play mind games and try to convince people ferrari has something up their sleeve but it only seems to work for the spectators since his intimidation tactics arent working on renault or alonso, they call his bluff every time.
I noticed that aswell but id say it seems more like schumacher having some help from his semi-auto clutch giving him max engine braking where as alonso seemed to have the clutch in for all the down shifts which is not as effective or maybe the ferrai shift's slower so it was more visable.... Talking of gear's does anyone know if williams was satisfied enough with the seamless shift gearbox's reliability to run it in the race?
First 15 minutes where the best especially when they all clammered to get out of the pits with alonso not even setting a time yet but ended up fastest of that session (heart in your mouth stuff when your a fan of alonso). As for wasting fuel i'd say the lack of laps they did on friday to save their 7 tire sets for the weekend equals it out in the end (even though they are essectially wasting the fuel on purpose) but even though its nice seeing them on low fuel for qualy having the top 10 running on race fuel and the other 12 on whatever fuel they want will make the stratagies for the race mix things up *crosses fingers*. As for the ferrari's i think montoya got it perfect when he said something like "I expect them to do that pace for about 5 laps before having to pit". alonso vs. button this year i've been predicting.
I was looking on http://www.act-labs.com/race_utilsupport.htm at the games that support the act labs shifter and as you can all see when LFS is named so are each of the dev's....i've been in situations where i didnt want to list the names to discribe who makes LFS so would it be easier if they had a kind of company name? not that its very important i'm sure, no harm in it though... Ofcourse i'd be useless for suggesting one but maybe someone has a good idea....i'll be a spoil sport and name "Super Awesome Talent Agency"from south park and "Super Global Hyper Mega Net" from the simpsons
dont fully understand the question but i'll answer with my most memorable and try to get them in order.
Super Mario Bros.
Roadrash
Street Fighter 2
Legend of the Mystical Ninja
Mario Kart
Super Bomberman
Gran Turismo 2
Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars
Final Fantasy 7
Half-Life (then the mods Team Fortress Classic and Counter-Strike in that order)
Motor City Online
Live For Speed
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Half-Life 2 (Counter-Strike: Source Beta was played first and final release still is)
Out of all that i'd only consider Valve and the LFS Dev's to have my full support, gratitude and loyalty.
I like the idea and i'm sure someone can some up with a decent setup that isent undrivable for everyone so would promote racecraft. ofcourse as an option only, wouldnt want it to be the only way to get a setup.
just saw it myself now, looks bad for kimi in 2006 specially since ferrari should be up at the sharp end again and teams need to be at their peak to challenge them when they are on form. as i'm a renault fan though i'm hoping they can overcome both and fend of the rising redbull's and toyota's and looks like BAR....errr honda will be hoping to finally improve on their 2004 sesson. lot of pressure in alot of teams.
did 11 laps of blgp in an fox with 100% fuel and r1 tires (62.9% left after race), compared to just having enough for the 11 laps i found the car to be a bit more stable out of cornors, not to much slower (about 1:10.30 fastest starting with 39% fuel, 1:10.80 fastest starting with 100%) the biggest difference is that the tires where starting to burst into flames at lap 4 instead of about lap 9. so i'd say its really not a massive deal to have a couple of laps more fuel then anyone else.
i think very early on the dev's said something about not wanting licensed cars in the game. i'm guessing they can do without the pressure of car companys thinking their cars should be performing better ingame since they are more concerned about their product then the quality and realism of racing, nfsu couldnt have damage because the car companys didnt want it or so i've heard. i'm confident the dev's havent lost sight of their goal for this game, the support from us followers who share that goal hopefully keeps them from caving in
I wouldnt like to see real road cars in LFS, could take the concintration away from the racing.
as for "ice", winamp and a classic rock internet radio station is all i want. If i heard thumping bass from a car blasting dance music i'd have to run them off the road.
well the more restarts the more havoc a wrecker can cause, only solution would be a vote for people like that but i'm guessing its all be said before.
did a quick search for anything recent and didnt come up with this topic sorry, guess ill just grin and bare it :P atleast hosts can make their server standout by being set to encourage good racing, just not enough seem to try.
nerf the restart button
force it so you can only restart after so many laps are complete. good to have a race shaken up a bit and people learning to improvise on situations, would get most people taking t1 a bit more carefully seeing as there would be no quick fix. being clean ahead after a t1 crash or being right in the middle i've never went for a restart, people need to learn how to accept racing incidents.
best way ive seen a server setup was with reversed grid positions, that way the people that know what they are doing are behind and alot less likely to plow into everyone and gives a bit more adventure for the faster drivers. dont recall one restart on that server, shame ive only seen one server use it.
this is the only suggestion i could really care about tbh. the light to annoying when your trying to learn a car (obviously dont know when its coming, what it sounds like or which gear to take the cornor at), i have to take my eyes off the road to see when to shift. an option to put just the light center right or left would be a big help.
lucky i only play on a 17' moniter at 800x600, would be missing whole cornors if i had to look any further away :P
apparently when jensen button crashed into a barrier at the chicane after coming out of the tunnel in monaco the G force peaked at 89, i'm assuming you are talking about the peak aswell. he might have been going a bit slower but it was a dead stop and blacked out from it, obviously the safety features work :P
saw a kind of flashback of it from utv/itv coverage, 1:21.072 for villeneuve, schumacher and frentzen. ofcourse saw schumacher trying to takeout villeneuve but just taking himself out - commentator: "that didnt work, michael. you hit the wrong part of him my friend". schumacher got disqualifyed for it and villeneuve won the title. hakkinen won his first race from villeneuve letting him past aswell...lot of action it seems
