When I'm bored at work I play Doom 2 on my N93 + BT keys.
Still gives me shivers to time to time and is still a great game

At home I play FF12. Haven't been playing for awhile, 70+ hours...

Quote from garph :The only problem I had was when I first used it and I let XP manage the wireless connection, I got this regular sutter every minute or so, changing to the software that came with the wireless network card fixed the problem.

Great tip!

Maybe it is the XP's software which causes lots of these problems Only problem left is that I'm connected through another pc which has XP in it. So, I have only the wireless software for this pc. Well, 1 bad XP software is better than 2 bad XP softwares, right?

Nevertheless, I'll give it a try someday when I have more time. I'll report back my findings (if I remember to do so ).

E:Tried to config RaWireless Utility-software and I managed to get a connection working between the two pc's. Only thing was that I couldn't get the internet connection to work. I looked the setting from XP's own connection: ip,default gateway, dns and all, but if I but these manually on my wireless network-settings, on Control Panel/Network settings, it won't work.

I suck a lot Tips?

It's the wireless. Well, at least I think so

Is it your own secured wireless network or unsecured city network? If its for anyone to use then there is issue about the bandwidth, everyone downloading god knows what and using all the bandwidth

If its your own secured wireless that isn't used by any other, then don't keep any p2p, downloads, messenger etc open and running.

But if everything is okay then switching to wire might solve the problem. At least one I know had the same problems and got the problem fixed by using wire instead of wireless.

Today I was racing CD1 and got "connection lost" several times. Also some other ppl were getting disconnected several times and there were only 8 online! Might be server related also

Quote from jibber : Dunno why that is such a big deal for you...

No bigie, just interested

But I don't usually answer calls which caller I don't know and certainly not answering calls from other countries. There's a slight change that it would be a hoax call and it would cost me lot.

Well, for the situation has changed, at least for calls from Finland. I installed a software to my S60 phone that when call comes the software finds out who is calling, if I might not have that number.

Call me paranoid if you like

Quote from 11SuLLy11 :That is mobile my dear friend aka cell phone not a landline

Thanks! So then it might not be a corporate number

Quote from deggis :You have a secret lover

This secret lover hasn't called me anymore. Maybe she (or he, yaks!) got bored with me like every other women I've known

Still, haven't given that number anywhere. I have another number at LFS-database, I think...

My best guess is that when I downloaded Mig33 and registered, that the registration needs your number and someone at Mig-community "accidentally" called me. Hmm, duno

E: If someone could find out who the caller was I could send the full phone number via pm. And only if that wouldn't cost so that I then don't owe anyone money

Calls from Ireland?

Few months ago I got a call from number +353879691XXX. First time my phone ring three times and the second time, few hours later, it only ring one time. Didn't answer it 'cause I was afraid that it would be a hoax call.

So, is that number from Ireland and is it a office or home number? If it isn't then what number it might be?

Still got the number on me phone so that I don't answer it by mistake If someone might call from that number again.
Tried to google but haven't found much. Puzzles me still, so I thought to ask the LFS community

Quote from ans7812 :maybe there is somethign wrong with me then lol. i've never gotten that nervous while playing a video game

Like in a accident; some ppl freak out, some goes to "hero-mode". Hard cold truth is that someone is better at something, whereas someone sucks (like me)

If you can race without problems and anxious attacks, great Good for you.
But one thing is that we are many and we have many persona's. And for that someone might get "anxious attacks" while racing LFS, but still be a great driver IRL.

Closing speech, anyone?

Quote from ans7812 :it sounds like hes pretty anxious to me...

Missed that one.

It seems that he gets too much information and cannot focus at driving. He's thinking the curves, throttle, steering ratio, braking, speed and also ppl behind/front of him. That can be overwhelming when not as experienced as pro racer.
Information overload, so to say But that goes away by racing and with more experience. The brain adjusts to the situation and learns how to handle with all the information (what to keep, what to neglect)

Quote from ans7812 :...but i still can not seem to understand how a video game justifies anxiety attacks?

Hmm, has anyone said that he/she has had an anxiety attack? Speed readed thru the thread and found only that someone says that get a couple of beers to losen up, for not being so anxious.

But, anyways I haven't had anxiety attacks. Only been nervous on some situations and so on.
Like someone said that LFS and real life cannot be compared. Person who gets anxiety attacks while driving at motorway don't play LFS (well, at least I don't know anyone). Everything else which comes to my mind has been said earlier

Today I was racing online at GFC and had great time. Won a race there

I wasn't the fastest and I was getting very nervous. I thought to myself that "everything is ok. Just stick to what you have been doing all along." Almost lost confidence to the F08, but I pulled it together by thinking "The only way I'm going to lose my 1st place is by screwing race by myself and not by anyone else."

I usually get my hands trembling and heart rate up. This time I was racing very cleanly

I went online and spectated awhile, got disconnected (about 9.50pm). But this time my disconnection was due to my connection Shrug

Hopefully the 3G-network's data is up and running this night, 'cause I would want to see how it would work this time on a full server...

Few hours earlier I was racing and having fun with no issues whatsoever Thumbs up

I usually get disconnected on servers with 25 - 30+ ppl online. I think it's my connection, altought I can race fully on servers with less then 20 ppl.

But these problems came about when X was released. And I have noticed that my connection on the left corner at the bar starts to peak just before I get disconnected. But until disconnection I can race against everyone else and everything seems fine (ie no lag or struttering).

I know that 3G isn't meant for online gaming. But maybe if I change my connection to 2Mb, maybe then these problems could be solved?

Was there on the server lots of ppl?

I have played the patch X very litle so I don't now exactly what might be the problem with that. But what I have seen is that when ppl come out of pits that the lagging doesn't happen for me, but this I have seen on server with 10 to 15 ppl... On servers with 30+ (or maybe less) I get disconnected to time to time. Might be my combo: wlan -> 3g hsdpa -> internet. <- this has been disgussed before, see this thread...

...and daydreaming in bed

Allways on US tv-series ppl hop on their beds wearing shoes, omg!

Anyways, I don't wear shoes when playing driving simulators. Maybe I should for more realistic feel?

Back to topic. There were some ppl online about 0800 CET and I found about 30 servers which had ppl in 'em racing.

I'll say that wait for the evening (Europe's time) and there will be lots more servers with more ppl online

Quote from DEVIL 007 :HSDPA is not mean for online gaming. You should note that.I am not suprized you got disconnectiins with these kind of connection.

Yep, I know I was suprised how well it works when I tried the demo for the first time

But, like I said, that disconnects are mostly caused by wlan disconnect. Today was different because it was first time that I tried a test patch and joined the bug test servers and the first time that I had these several disconnects.

Quote from DEVIL 007 :Your ping are jumping pretty high.I have been having constant 120-250ms on 56k dial up modem a long time ago.

Those high ones happened only once per test

I have had those same disconnect problems today on test bug servers.
On the official patch everything was fine. Well, the difference between two servers, bug and official, was that there was less ppl online in official and almost full at bug test server.

Ping:
50 pings to the master server, 0% lost
Ping range from 158ms to 291ms, average 175ms

My connection is thru 3G, HSDPA enabled network (max. 2Mb at the moment). My connection goes thru to another computer, which is connected to the internet and the connection between these computers is wireless lan.

Sometimes I get disconnected but that happens mostly because the computer, which has LFS installed, loses wlan-connection.

E: With 100 packets = 0% lost, 142 - 903ms, average 160ms

I lost connection to the server several times while racing. Sometimes I could race the hole race to the end (5 laps). It seemed to happen between races, but not always then.

Other few players were losing connection also. It might be because of the many racers (30+).

When I went to play online with the official W patch, these problems vanished. Also there was lot less ppl online.
So its not my ISP or my connection, I think

Quote from Paranoid Android :As for those that have joined mid-race, I expect them to not obstruct you in ANY way during the race. They are just there to get warmed up, and not to race.

This happened to me on CTRA new & bronze server. I was leading and two other were behind me in a 2-3 seconds distance, so the race was tight. The three of us were driving the XF GTI and one racer, who joined midrace, passed us on a 4th last corner on the last lap. He was driving the XR GT. With his action I had to take gently last corners, 'cause I didn't now what he was about to do or how skillfull he might be Well the situation went ok, I won and all but I made my opinion clear about his passing a group of competitors by sounding my horn alot.

It bugged me that someone would come and race us, even when he was laps behind us! So I left after the race shortly afterwards...

Well, I saved the replay and watched it and the situation wasn't that bad but it made mine brane overload with information and made my heart rate go way up

I'm connected via 3G HSDPA network and the lag I'm getting is from 120 - 300, when it is usually at around 150 - 170. Well, i don't know the exact lag when racing, I know those from the servers list.

I would say that sometimes I get "ghosts" but overall lag is good. Below 200 is good But I ain't sure if those "ghosts" are happening because the server or my connection?
