I don't think that's a problem, because an admin that is following the race will notice this.

The Virgin car has a very strange design... I'm very curious on how will it perform. I really hope it performs well, in that way it will prove the accuracy of computer-simulated fluid dynamics.

I love punk rock, and bands like Strung Out, Rise Against, Anti-Flag, etc. Very nice bands with nice lyrics, too.

Quote from tinvek :funny you should say that, there was a row a few seasons ago in GP2 (or whatever it was called then) at monza when one team decided that they could still comply with the regs on the number of rear wing elements fitted but by fitting the main element upside down they could reduce downforce and drag and still have a controllable car. as far as i can remember the scruteneers passed it but i think it was protested after the race, just not sure of the outcome.

Can't get this, because if the main element is upside down it produces the same amount of drag. The angle is what matters.

I actually remember that game, I am not sure about the name, probably something like "Rally"/"Driver" or something like this.

It had some kind of strange 3 wheel vehicles.

I suggest having the wings flipped up - it would limit the speed (if you exceed the limit, you will fly), and it going behind another car will increase your grip.

I'm joking, ofc

That's so NFS!

I don't know, but VirtualBox is certainly less designed for gaming than VMWare is. VMWare got it's 3d acceleration earlier than VirtualBox.

And the seamless integration... ... All the windows applications in seamless mode in a Linux host appear as one window with VirtualBox..that's horrible.

Interesting. Try VMWare if you have a license.

Yes, if I was a regular LFS player. I am not even near playing LFS regularly.
Anyway, I already suggested that somewhere: make all the cars and tracks open for all the players, and make tools to create cars and tracks, but don't modify the game to support loading the modified stuff. That will still insure the current quality control, while LFS players will be still able to fix "bugs" in tracks/cars, than submit the fix to Eric, and if he accepts it, it would get merged into the official game.

However, going online should be payed, maybe a bit more expensive than it currently is.

Oh damn. I wish Scawen was more verbose with his progress reports so that the currently yelling players keep their mouth shut about the development of LFS.

Yeah, I already found out yesterday and read the licenses. It seems that it's not going to void my warranty - and I can always Restore in iTunes when I want.
I'll jailbreak it soon...

Quote from dumbass0 :@Ivo Georgiev - The circumstances were a bit different. The small developing team had to cope with almost endless stream of new technology. Its hard to develop something AND make it compatible with new hardware every few months (LFS developers dont have to deal with that).

Also, from what I have gathered, creating a fully working OS (even on a solid basis) is a bit more difficult than making a game and some maps every few years (just look at the development of ReactOS).

Personally, I was pretty certain that there wont be ANY new patches coming in near time (Id even assume the nearest 3 months considering the amount of stuff to be done) when I read Scawens post.

You are right about the hardware thing, and SkyOS died exactly because they couldn't cope with the hardware support.
I was exaggerating on purpose

And still, it's an example of how, if the project is started by a small group of developers, the open development model tends to survive (e.g. the Linux kernel, and the whole free software community), and the closed development model tends to survive less (e.g. SkyOS).

The development of LFS is ok. It is still playable and enjoyable, which guarantees it's "survival" (e.g. GPL), but it could be better, certainly. There are a lot of things that _have_ to be implemented to make LFS a full-feature simulator, like breakable parts, rain, etc.

There is/was a project called SkyOS. It was developed by a very small group of people. It had awesome potential. To use it, you had to pay for a license. It was a small amount of money compared to the other operating systems' prices. Everything I said by now is stunningly simular to LFS!
One day, progress just stalled. A few years after this, the project is officially frozen. The only way out is to make it open-source, and it is considered by the developers.

Personally, I think that if the LFS developers can't develop the game at normal pace, they should make it open-source and drop the license system, or require a license only to play online (to use a server).

iPod Touch
It rocks... connected it to wi-fi today.
However I can upload music only from Windows because it needs iTunes
Can I download music on it from the internet, except iTunes, and put it in my library? For example with the Dropbox application?
Can't test it, because I don't have wi-fi at home

The blackwood car park is big for a real car park, so I can't imagine where will you find a bigger car park. Except if a track like Abu Dhabi gets in LFS which has a big parking near it.

Then if the whole track is drawn there won't be a difference O.o
They are rendered, but due to camera position, there aren't visible. Note that everything in LFS is drawn only from the visible side, except if it is double-sided.

Wait... Forget about cruising now.
That limitation in the graphics engine means that it's inefficient, doesn't it?
Usually, a good optimization technique for Direct3D is to draw only the objects that are in the sight of the camera. The current LFS graphics engine draws all the objects in the so-called path - that's more to be drawn than only the things that are in the camera view.

Sorry for the offtopic, but what do you mean under "DOESN't using ALSA'... PulseAudio is always using ALSA as a back-end, except if you aren't running it on Windows (see the PulseAudio website.. it's possible to use it under Windows).
And with or without PulseAudio, you are still using ALSA. PulseAudio is not an ALSA replacement, it's an audio "proxy".
And BTW I tested PulseAudio on my old PC (onboard) and the new one (also onboard audio card) and it had no problems, despite the heavy testing.

I think both Racer and that use Pacejka.

I see no similarities with the unique futures of LFS except the forces arrows.
