Here's my helmet. I tried to make it look as similar to my real life Arai GP5K as possible. Really wish they could update the helmet shape for the game though, as it looks like crap...
LFS helmet:
Real helmet:
And finally, how it looks in other games who use the Arai helmet model (Race, rFactor etc):
Well, the design is ok, but I'd apprectiate some respect for my one, simple request stated in the template for the bodykit. All I ask is to be credited, but you even removed my logo from the black mask. Not very nice...
Haven't bothered to read the whole thread, but I seem to recall that the Nissan S-bodies (s13-s15) has got about 41-42 degrees lock in stock form. With a simple spacer it can easily be increased by at least 5-6 degrees...
And as for realism being the main argument for not allowing more lock, I must say that I don't know many stock cars that will let you adjust gear ratios, damper settings, diff settings, alignment etc. like you can with the XRT. IRL it would be way easier to increase steering angle than adjust ackerman...!
And yes, you do need more lock to drift properly. Of course one can drift with 36 degrees, but when chasing those insane entry angles it just won't do the job.
Grip racers will never get this though, as they're afraid of pushing the limits beyond what's "safe"
(Btw, I have 15 years of IRL racing experience, yet I love drifting! It's all about pushing limits and having fun in a car isn't it?)
No one knows for sure. A couple of years ago it was a huge trend in Japan to have the right side mirrored. Not all logos, but the ones that were a part of the design. I'm guessing there are several reasons:
1. Better symmetry in the design...
2. Most italic text and logos lean to the right, making them lean against the direction of travel on the right side of the car...
3. The Japansese don't usually use our greek letters, so they just don't care what way it is as long as it looks pretty...
4. You will see the design the correct way when cruising past a big store window...
4. It's easier to make...
Some explain it as jin jang, saying that the design needs to be symmetric due to eastern culture. Not so sure though, as Japanese race cars usually have the logos the right way...
So if we break it down we see that it's a trend limited to japanese drifting/street racing. That kind of supports the theory that street racers want to se their design while cruising in the city and enjoying the reflection in windows.
I think it's a combination of that, and the fact that it's way easier to make it look good. And of course it does work in order to draw attention. Not anymore perhaps, but the first dude who did it probably got a lot of attention. So everyone else just followed, making it a trend. Not really having a reason at all...
Decals are from brandsoftheworld, the web or even handmade in some cases. Been collecting logos for a couple of years. Not keen on giving them away, but take a look at the d1rdgp mod (www.fsr.no/d1rdgp). I've released templates for all the cars, and you can find a lot of logos there. Just remember to credit me if you use them in public skins...
And I'll give away a secret: A good way to find eps logos is to try and find pdf cataloges from the company you want the logo from. Very often they contain a vector version of the logo
Hi. I made another skin tonight. This is a fictional D1 drift car, but I made it to look as though it could actually exist irl. My goal was to make a design with lots of colors and logos, yet balanced and pretty. I also wanted it to be very typical japanese drift car, almost bordering on cliché...
I've been staring at it all night, so I can no longer tell if I've achieved my goal or not. I guess I'll leave it for you guys to judge...
Still havent decided if I want to release it or not, so for now I'll just post a screenie
My first public skin for LFS. Based on the Driftworks S15, allthough not 100% accurate. As I find it rather silly to try to make the XR look like a S15, I haven't used headlamps textures or stuff like that. It's a XR with Driftworks design, not a replica...
Feel free to use, but please don't mess it up or repost as your own. Thanks
