Thank you for the very good piece of advice, That works fine now. My mistake, I forgot that in real life, throttle should be released before kicking the clutch and upshifting the gear. Once again, LFS is very close to real driving.

Maybe it's time for me to move from classic joystick to wheel with rudders (gas/throttle, brake and clutch) such as Logitech G25.

This last patch Y is a big gift for christmas.

Enjoy driving.

Hello,

As you asked everybody not to create a new thread for the brandnew patch Y, I post my feedback here if you don't mind.

I encountered no problem during the installation but something strange happens while I drive Formula BMW FB02. When the car is not moving I can switch up the gear to 6th but once it rolls I won't be able to switch the gear up beyond 4th. It seems that the gearbox is stuck at this stage. Maybe you can help me to solve this problem and if someone else also encoutered this trouble.

I use Logitech attack 3 joystick which works fine with the other cars of LFS.

Awaiting your reply, I'll stay tuned.

Hi Kx Mole,

I didn't run LFS for more than 2 hours last week and I got no freeze. Freezing seldom happens during replay session but it disturbs me while driving the car but not all the time 2 weeks ago. It seems that it disappeared since a few days. I hope that this situation is going to last. I'm happy hearing that Nick also removed his frame freezing but my PC stucks from time to time during internet connexion starting by loosing my mouse using. Either I had to close windows using the keyboards or everything is stuck and I had to reboot my computer using the reset button. Maybe, this is new trouble.

I don't know if once again there is a link with the graphic card driver I installed. Anyway, LFS works better than before.

Hi All,

Bad news , I got freezes three times today with the driver which worked perfectly last week. The only thing I did meanwhile was to install firefox and video downloader. Is there a link between firefox and LFS ? I don't think so but we must check oother users. My PC was switched On since early in the morning today but I don't think that the high components temperature was the main problem as the cooling system is correctly working.

1-Please advise which navigator do you use (internet explorer, firefox, opera and which version)

Awaiting your reply all, thanks.

Hi All racers,

On my side, the fresh driver for my old GForce2 MX400 works fine with LFS, no freeze. Maybe the graphic cards driver is the main key of the problem. I already encountered such problem with Flight Simulator (I also enjoy flying hardcore software) and neither the older or newer version of the driver worked correctly. I had to find the average one after several test and that wasn't the last version.

I guess Nick that the driver you are using is the better that match with your system. I hope so!

Good Luck

Here are the result:

Thank you for the advice Nick,

My nvudisp.exe file was corrupted. I removed the previous Nvidia driver with Driver Cleaner and installed the last (4.14.0010).81.98 forceware version (10/12/2005).

The desktop right-click to display the Video Bios version now works correctly.
Here is the Video Bios version: 3.11.01.24

LFS runs without freeze until now.

I'll keep you informed about any event.

I'm sorry, I found nothing instead . I think the reason I got error message while using right click desktop is that there are some missing files during Nvidia driver installation which are noticed on the last process you asked me to do:

default.tvp
nvwcplen.hlp
nvcpl.hlp
nvagp.inf (this one could be needed for the display)

I got the last driver from the following link:
http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce2mx.html

Maybe the last driver installation did not perform full update or it skipped (or deleted) the above mentioned files.

I'm wondering why I cannot display Bios information

I saw in regedit while searching "bios" string that I encoutered " Video bios posting problem". I'm going to check what happened.

Thanks for the help Nick,

I didn't find anything using the path you mentionned, nevertheless I got the following informations through Register Editor automatic search menu:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ENUM\ROOT

Biosdate: 11/23/01 (quite old - US format)
Biosname: "Award"
Biosversion: v1.0

I hope those informations could help you. I'm going to process full test of LFS (all tracks and cars) and keep you all posted. I got no freeze until now after updating my NVidia GeForce 2 - MX400 graphic driver.

I'll stay tuned

Hi Nick,

I regret to advise you that I couldn't access to the Bios version of my card using the usual way (rightclick on the desktop/properties/advanced/ video card), I got an error dialog box. I'm going to translate it to you as I use french windows 98 version:

"An error occured while accessing windows/system/desk.cpl file"

Is there a workaround to display my BIOS version ?

Thanks

On my side, I downloaded the last driver version (81.98) for my old NVidia GForce 2 MX400 and I got no freeze after using both LFS W and X10 versions for more than 2 hours.

I hope that it is going to last. Anyway, I will advise you about any event which might happen later on. I guess, this fresh downloaded driver works better with DirectX 9.0c which I use now. Please note I still use an old computer:

AMD Athlon 1600+ - 1.4 Ghz - AMD Thunderbird Socket A
512 Mb Ram
Graphic: NVidia GForce2 MX400 - 64Mb AGP + TV
Mother board; ABIT KR7A-R VIA 266A RAID IDE AGP 4X ATA 133 DDR
DD: Maxtor 7200 T/M ATA 133 40Go and Hitachi 80Go both IDE

Software:
Windows 98 SE with the latest available pack update (no more supported now by Microsoft)
DirectX 9.0C

Once again, I wish that all together could sort this trouble out

Hello all,

I noticed that there were some common hardwares with which the trouble occurs.

-AMD Athlon
-Hitachi Ide HD
-NVidia GForce2 (but it seems that the same problem occurs with other graphic cards)

I moved LFS from my first Maxtor HD to the Hitachi one. Nevertheless, I don't think that this would affect LFS. I'm using both HD now.

I'm still wondering why LFS ran perfectly before. The graphic freezing only happened while Avast antivirus updates the virusdata at this time. I disable the Avast automatic updating option accordingly while I use LFS and I got no problem until our common trouble happened.

The problem we are encoutering occured recently. I don't know what happened meanwhile.

On the other hands, I updated my W version into X10 one and I made several tests for more than hour. There was no problem until LFS hung completely my PC. I restarted it and unfortunately the same bug which affects us occured once again.

I hope we will solve out this problem. Maybe Scawen and his team should be kept informed.

I will stay tuned

Hello Nick and all LFS drivers,

Did you solve the problem yet or not ? I'm encountering the same trouble since a few days although LFS runned perfectly before.

I use both W and X10 version but the above problem (graphic and sound freezing for 5 sec then LFS continued jumping in realtime image) happened with version W. I used to use both version because all replays I saved with version W cannot be opened with X10 version (another trouble).

Another information: I only bought and unlocked S1 from the S2W demo. That's enough for me who is a rallycross driver enthusiast.

I still use an old computer:

Hardware:
AMD Athlon 1600+ - 512mb RAM
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX400 - 64 MB

Software:
Windows 98SE
DirectX 9.0c

I didn't change any drivers but I only added some hardware:

-2nd HD Hitachi - IDE
-1 PCI firewire card for video capture
-1 PCI Ethernet card fir internet (I used USB connexion before)
-The power supply was updated from 400W to 470W.

If you found the solution to remove the graphic bug, please let me know and I will act accordingly with my PC. I'm in the nightmare at the moment and I'm not able to play in such condition.

Thank you in advance and awaiting your early reply ASAP
