Quote from mattlikespeoples :'lacks balls'? a new feature in S2 is the female AI option. they're slower, more erratic and cant pit right. check around under misc and you'll see the tab for male or female AI

Indeed but the "male" drivers lack bollocks too. Very little diffence in style, except that the "male" drives are marginally better at overtaking awfully slow backmarkers.

None of my AI never EVER pit. they just run outta gas and die (a UF1000 could win on a 40lap race vs FV8's). Still as far as I'm concerned the grade should be selected via newbie / learner / pro / etc. If I wanted n00bs I'd select newbie. Sorry to say it, but this is a pointless thing. It took ages to get their confidence up to make a race of it. Sorry, pointless, End of.

AI lacks balls / Confidence issues?

EDIT by Gunn: Two threads merged to help keep things neat and sparkly.

Hi,

My first posting on the LFS forums and just one to ask about the lack of balls shown by the AI drivers in standalone (single player) mode.

Classic example. Kyoto ring, oval. Set off a normal race with the AI set to pro, me with my FXO turb and a couple of AI Formula V8's. Anyway the AI racers rocketed off as expected but then seemed to "spook" themselves and lifted right off the gas after a couple of laps. Dropping their lap times down into the 48 / 49 sec region. Hardly much of a challenge. Tried again with two "different" AI racers and the same behaviour was exhibited. As it was I've had to run the AI racers on their own for a good 150 / 200 laps of the Kyoto oval for them to "regain their confidence" and they're now lapping consistently around the low 41 sec area and have no issues with slowness.

Have I missed something or is the computer supposed to start off acting like a learner driver, even on professional mode?

Cheers

B
