hi there... first... good to hear nothing's really happened.... and as the others said... don't be scared too much...it will make it quite hard for you to start driving again...
I had a similar "situation" like you, but there was some damage to the car, which made my account a little lighter... ;-) but I got on with driving, took it as a expensive lesson and got over it...
Years later I had a stupid crash with a motorcycle, this time no damage at all (appart from scratches which don't matter at all on a Yamaha TT600) and a couple of bruises, I drove the bike home, sold it 2 weeks later and quit riding.. It took me 6 years to get on to a bike again and it was like learning to ride again, but 5 times more scary....
Best Motoring videos of Japanese GT Series show, they do use heel&toe..
don't know about FIA GT, though, but I guess, they don't need to kick the clutch for shifting...
nope, sure not it's only you....
since i have to use contactlenses, my time in front of LFS is quite limited.. I seem to quit blinking, while trying to get faster
Hi, actually I'm suffering under similar symptoms....
I have pretty much the same components as you do...
Last week, my power supply failed... it didn't burn through, but somehow did shut down the system after 3 or 4 secs.. I replaced it after two days running on a 250w unit..and today I tried LFS but it keeps crashing after a few secs in game (crashing = it starts stuttering..then screen goes black, then PC gets stuck. with VPU recovery I can prevent a restart).
I have checked all cables and if all cards are propperly installed (I have dismantled the entire computer to find that the power supply was faulty), removed the installed ATI-drivers, installed the latest ones I knew worked before. I fiddled with the the settings of the graphics card, but with no real result... I can only run LFS a few seconds longer....
i get the feeling, that the faulty power supply somehow damaged the graphics card....
@der_jackal: thanks for the info on the clever uninstall & stuff, managed to improve, but still the game crashes, just as the others...
I did once some laps on the GP circuit in Montreal with a Ford Taurus (ok, not much of a sporty car, but still)...and I was really surprised how strong the car reacted when driven over the curbs... lots of wobbling and other unsporty stuff going on... LFS in my opinion is not that far from RL...
I agree with Linsen and would like to get one step further...
if the Devs would "outsource" elements of the game,
..they would need to take over responsibility for things they didn't create..
..they would need to to "manage" other teams, than just themselves...(timely aspects, quality....etc)
...and since we are paying for what we get (I feel its an excellent package for us though), maybe they just want to make sure, they have their hands on alle elements, to deliver value for money....
don't get me wrong, I know, that there are a lot of talented guys out there, willing to help, but it ain't easy, i guess...
and as also stated... I also enjoy, watching this sim evolving and getting better...it's something you don't see often....
after racing looooong time only offline, I started recently to join online races... I try to pick servers which are not full and have a reasonable number of drivers...
Is there a actually a way to be on the last position of the starting grid?
For the time being I'm not to happy to be in the first third of the grid, 'cos I don't (really) want to give space away, as I know the others are faster, but I don't want to block the faster ones either and possibly cause a carnage.... or something.
well, I guess I need to do more races online and get faster anyway... ;o))
I agree with above, but I think, no sim prepares one for the g-forces (especially braking), which will work on you during a race. The heat and constant poundering of noise is also something which can stress people out, distracting from the clean racing line.. ;-). Also it can be really unnerving how brutal racing drivers (or wanna-be's) are driving their cars.
Having quite some kilometers offline (and very few and slow online), I don't drive any faster on the road (if situation permits) or feel prepared by racing with LFS, because crashing IRL hurts and is expensive and in LFS you don't really need to care....
Hi, i'm trying to logon to lfsworld, but i'm not able to logon correctly all the time... username and pw are correct and on left top my username is displayed, but when i try to access "personal" sites it refuses me to do so..
i have checked my cookie-settings and i'm using firefox (latest version from today)
I agree here with some points made and disagree with others... but to sum it up (again): Adding electronic devices to supercars spoils the fun for those who could do without and saves the butts of those who can't.
In real life - since i'm able NOT to overrate my driving skills - I'm not to unhappy if i find a "powerful" car to be equipped with TC, it's just....that you can relax a bit and not need to drive with a knife between your teeth at all times...even if its a Alfa 147 (with 150 turbodiesl bhp) on sicilian mountain roads....
I simply dislike the thought having in RL the same crashes as in LFS..
And for all the supercars out there with all that gadgetery.. in the end, the market (i.e. rich customers) decides, what's being added to a car, not us who mostly will never be able to afford it...
